This is revolutionary. I've been using IRs to make my acoustic sound like slightly different acoustics through the IR, and it works wonders for that. One thing I've had great success with is getting a guitar IR that's exactly shaped like my guitar -- a Taylor 814ce to go with my 314ce, for instance -- and recording my guitar pickup through Channel A, at the same time as I plug a condenser mic into helix Channel B, then play with the two tracks together in my DAW. That sounds better than just recording through either one alone. But I can't believe how perfectly you've got it working with a Strat. That's absolute sorcery.
When you started play at 5:18 I was convinced you were lying and actually recorded with an acoustic guitar, hidden because of the camera cropping. What an amazing sound that is!
I have been using your podgo presets but just got helix native so just sent my payment! Can’t wait for all the helix presets 😍😍 love your content. Thanks for all you do 🤘🤘
Just got the time to watch this. I've been using 3 sigma IRs with great results. I even blended in a cello IR to get some "wood" on a jazz preset. It's harder to get classical but I've gotten close. I usually AB with a recording to tweak. Using an actual classical player and classical piece will surprise you how easy it is too fool your ear thinking you've got it then... you listen to the real one ........... You're right the less effects the more real it sounds. And it beats the heck out of piezo quack.
It’s surprisingly good. Obviously not flawless, but if you were in a pitch it’s pretty dang good. Nice job of showing the various combos between fx and IRs.
Steel strings will sound like steel strings through an IR, nylon strings will sound like nylon strings through an IR, you get the picture. I get great results using acoustic IRs, but I use Classical impulses on my nylon strings, and Dreanoughts and the like impulses on metalstring acoustics ;-)
This mate, rip Glenn’s ones to pieces, he uses stacking IR’s which is unusual and the results are there, but then throw in expression pedals on the parameters of the Acoustic sim, whilst playing you can wind them in different directions and this bumps a level of dynamics to the playing which is unreal. Small touches to panning in a delay are pretty amazing
I am trying to get the exact IRs from Noodler. Can you or anyone tell me the IR exact file names as none seem to match exactly with what was said on this video.
At 15:03: "... Obviously the Helix version. Whooo, that's a lot nicer!" Understatement of the month. Exactly which Helix device were you using? It sounded great.
Hello from Italy ! Good sound. I don’t understand well what bundle contain all acoustic preset . Is possibile to know what presets there are in each bundle bifore buy? Thanks for your work. Bye.
It's really very impressive, is the way that i'm being dreaming since too much time ago how to switch from a furious guitar to a big & warm acosutic on stage without guitars changing. The only problem is that i really need a dumbs-proof step by step guide and i can't find it anywhere. i'm absolutely alone in a world of pure wisdom hahahahaa :(
Thanks John. The difference between the helix and stomp versions is really night and day in your video. I watched the video few times, while I realize that helix has more processing power and more blocks support, I still don't understand how parallel paths (or the helix specific paths) can create such a difference (perhaps I missed some details) . Could you help me understand? In my particular case, I have a semi-hollow piezo (and humbuckers) so I don't really need the acousticsim, just the IR and stereo/delay/reverb/imager stuff that made it sound so good. Thanks again.
I tried my Holy Grail acoustic IR with the sim last night and the sound cut out. 🤷 if you do make a stomp version, I’ll be interested in seeing it. I haven’t checked the folder in a while!
Looking at the dual IR paths, you seem to go via the first Ir, THEN split the signal, sending the second of the two via another IR, instead of splitting before the first IR. Is this accidental or on purpose? Sounds nice in any case. Just doesn't make sense!
Hello Johnnatan, I'm playing with a HX FX in 4CM on a PRS MT-15 head and a 4X12 Mesa Rectifier cab. Do you think adding an Acoustic IR to my preset with Acoustic Sim will improve the tone?
@@johnnathancordy Yep, of course I understand and I am aware of that. I already create a preset with the Ac Sim on the clean channel of the MT-15 and I think it's cool. I understand that this won't be the best way to get a nice Acoustic sound. But using an IR while playing on a real cab is a bit of a nonsense......that's the meaning of my question, will it be a plus or not?
@@oliviertroupin4512 if you have an frfr you can send a separate output to that for acoustic. If you have a piezo enabled electric with a separate output like a JP style guitar that would give you the option to use acoustic irs
Sounds great! But what is the point for using 1th IR for the left channel and 1st and 2nd in series for right? Why didn't use 1st for left and 2nd for right?
It just seems to me that it just scoops most mid frequency content out and thins everything out. It sounds fine by itself, (especially with Johnathon playing), but throw it into a gigging context or just playing with other musicians, and it just seems to completely disappear ....
