Was not expecting some of the most power early season coming from The Colts. This is sick. I’m not a percussionist but whatever was happening at the end of the ballad was awesome.
@@jasenswalley3985 Their designs the past couple years have prioritized the concept and not given the music aspect a chance to shine. Their show this year has all the features, screamers, soloists and other musical moments that drum corps is known for and I think that’ll really elevate their standing in the eyes of the audience.
The timing issues need to be cleaned up and there are some weird show design things, IMO. Especially the ending. I suspect there will be some changes and it will be exciting to see if they can get it done. I'm an alum so I'm always following their shows and this one is noticeably different than prior years. Faster and more complex. They have a shot for sure. I'm really excited for the corps this year.
im not a guard person but is it me or is their guard very good. i think i saw more drops and sails in the top 5 corps first performances than this first performance
I was able to watch them several times while they were in DSM. They're definitely going for it this year. The show is much more challenging in terms of tempos and listening environments compared to previous years. The biggest issue right now is it constantly feels like it's going to fall apart. I think that will change. There's also a few show design things that are just awkward and I'd bet they get addressed. There's so much potential here, I'm super excited to see how the season goes. This show is way better than Phantom's premiere.
Auggh!!! The first circle at the end was WILD!! My high school played it for jazz this year and it is a beast to play let alone march, alternating 12/8 10/8, damn. Keep up the work Colts!
How dare you ? A show that you can recognise, the music is entertaining and you look like the Colts what ever next-thank you for keeping the faith great show
this show has really good roots. I'm excited to see where it goes. Well done Colts! was so afraid you would have a massive talent drain after last season!

Music and program are interesting and I cant wait to see where it goes over the next 6 weeks!! THOSE COSTUMES THOUGH.. What in the actual hell.... Perfect illustration of one of the HUGE issues that is killing off DCI financially - the insane insistence on a new costume and new props EVERY DAMN YEAR. 2022 Silk Road special costumes, 2023 That Yearning for home business last year.. new costumes; 2024, NEW (and hideous) costumes --insane amount of wasted money - that is all 100 %on corps directors/boards /etc. I am truly, SERIOUSLY beginning to wonder if there isnt some sort of secret agreement between DCI and WGI with the costuming companies (FJM, FRUHAUF, etc) that drives this insanity. Marching Bands have evolved into major theatricality,; and frankly that has always been more about truly showing off and entertaining. Drum and Bugle Corps is *supposed* to have **some** sort of connection back to the Military Ceremonial Units (See USMC Corps at Indy every year) that inspired those men 70+ years ago to create a youth civilian equivalent concept. Looking at this, one is hard pressed to find a single think that hearkens back to Troopers, SCV, Cavvies, etc from 1972 era. Some evolution is reasonable - some amplification, indoor arena, sideline percussion - because they only add to or enhance the projection of the show etc. But abandoning actual *uniforms*/hats, abandoning of any resemblance to military drill concepts (see Cadets 2011 for single best example I can remember off top of head), and worst of all no true COLOR GUARD (IE national state flags etc/retreat - as a former Navy man who did Colors details at my base in Italy for 4 years, I truly mourn the loss of any real respect for the founders ideals. The concept of a musician EVER placing their expensive brass instrument on the ground and dancing around is an abomination that has got to be eradicated. DO Orchestras put their instruments down to do artisitic interpretive dance? OFC not. So why should the brilliant youth musicians, performing some amazing orchestral level music often, in Military inspired activity ever do so? #HeadAsploding I will always find something in most corps every year to be excited about - but there are also examples like BLOO last year - I watched that abomination ONCE early on, and then never again.. I Enjoyed their music and execution a great deal.. but those costumes and props were lifted straight out out of Lidsville, Pufnstuf, other weird 70s shows. But mere musical writing, technical perfection/execution.. those only go so far. I have bee 150% UNINTERESTED, if not bored to death, by BD the last 2 years.. ENOUGH ARTSY conceptual crap BD! Give me the power of Paradise Lost, The White WHale, No Walk Too Far, vorAcious, Lasso The Sun, etc. THOSE keep me interested all season. Ill be watching Colts - hopefully the show evolves to being so brilliant I can overlook the costumes LOL.
first of all, the costumes aren’t even bad, and are much better than something like bluecoats, second of all, costumes are one of the cheapest things for a drum corps to pay for every season. the real cost is travel.
This show is so dumb. Won't even make semi's. But this is what you get with management that the Board will never replace. But hey Board, as an alumni at our peak, this is why I will never give money to the program.

Colts making all the right moves for their push to the Top 6! Wow!
Maybe. They've been underrated for awhile. Maybe this season they'll get what they deserve.

@@tbildz I always just assume nobody has an actual ending to the show until like…Finals.
I'm telling you, Colts are due to be elite status!
I love that the Colts are becoming stylistically distinct. That opening front ensemble lick sounds so similar to last year.
Wow, this show is absolutely AMAZING!!!!!! This show could rank up there with 1999, 2007 and 2023.
What the fuck? This show is actually fucking incredible. Bravo, Colts. This shit is gonna go WILD at finals.
colts 100% a finalist this year
RIGHT!!
@@babboon they made finals last year.
@@babboon You never know...the competition for the top 12 seems to get tougher almost every year.
im not a guard person but is it me or is their guard very good. i think i saw more drops and sails in the top 5 corps first performances than this first performance
Yes.. They have NEVER been this Spectacular!!😮😮😮🎉🎉🎉
Wtf…. Like for real…. Colts… this is incredible
Excuse me while I go pick my jaw up off the floor
I very loudly exclaimed "What the fuck!?" Multiple times throughout my first watch.
Wow! That trumpet super C (double C, C7) was incredible! 🎉
Nice touch... Pat Metheny's "First Circle" to end the show. One of my all-time favorite musical pieces.
Oh my God?!? This is insanely good!
Might be my favorite show since 2007 from the Colts. Love the music!

The demand and exposure on One Black shoe, and one White Shoe... I hope this becomes impressive!
sometimes these choices can be very hard to clean...
BASS DRUMS ARE INCREDIBLE! I can hear their tones better than any other corps
How dare you ? A show that you can recognise, the music is entertaining and you look like the Colts what ever next-thank you for keeping the faith great show

This is a fantastic show. This is better than the Phantom Regiment show that was posted this week.
Best Ive 😊seen so far this season
LOW BRAAAASSS. They finally figured it out. I'm very proud of this year's Corp. Definitely top 12.
Very interesting take on MacArthur Park!
Lovin' it! Farm Animals are honkin'! Dark/White is great stuff!
Good shit red team!
absolutely nuts
i can't wait to see them in Rochester!!
this is a step up lol
man that drumset player is something else 😻
Holy shit colts, this does not feel like a 10-12 show
Nope
Nice early season performance Good Luck this season
Holy moly! 😮 Way to go, red team!
Proud Alum
Damn colts leads. I hear u
Damn they are marching
Yeah baby!!!!
This is the problem with performing on fields with tracks.. the audience is simply missing out on the full spectrum of volume available.
Slaps
macarthur park? what is happening
🥲
Fine tune the ballad choreography…push harder for synchronization

Bait used to be good and entertaining. "Won't even make semis" is just wholeheartedly unrealistic.
What an actually horrible take
Wouldn't expect anything less than a horrible take from someone with a blue lives matter flag as their profile picture. Grow up.
have you considered broadening your mindset or is it your mind too small for that?
