On this day in 1965 {January 30th} two versions of "Goldfinger" entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart...
Shirley Bassey's version peaked at #8 and spent 13 weeks on the Top 100...
While the version by Jack LaForge reached #96 and stayed on the Top 100 for 5 weeks...
Also in 1965 two other versions entered the Top 100; Billy Strange took it to #55 and its composer, John Barry, made it to #72 on the Top 100...
    R.I.P. Mr. Barry {1933 - 2011} and Mr. Strange {1930 - 2012}...

Somehow Saltzman did not like Bassey and Barry. He did not like Goldfinger and he did not like Diamonds are forever although they are two of the best and most famous bond songs today. I love all the Barry themes, specially with the voice of Bassey, i do also love Thunderball and From Russia with love, a example of a recent great Bond theme is Goldeneye. I hate Live and let die, it sounds not like a Bond song to me. Barry is the greatest Bond composer and Shirley the best Bond singer.
