"Irrespective of age, we mourn for those loved and lost. Mourning is one of the deepest expressions of pure love. It is a natural response in complete accord with divine commandment: 'Thou shalt live together in love, insomuch that thou shalt weep for the loss of them that die.' Moreover, we can’t fully appreciate joyful reunions later without tearful separations now. The only way to take sorrow out of death is to take love out of life." 💛 -Russell M. Nelson
Our mortal life is like us going away to college. We signed up for some very difficult classes and many times we felt that there was no way we could hand in our paper in time or maybe we had to deal with a roommate that helped themselves to our car without permission, BUT, it is also filled with some of the most fun times of our lives! "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times". And, we get an education out of the deal that can never be taken from us 😊.
I love these podcasts! I learn so much! I just want to thank you guys. With Brother Dirkmaat, I feel there's a lot you guys edited out. I would have loved to have heard him.
It’s very interesting to me how for many when their“ projected reality fails to meet the actual reality of circumstances “ (ie regarding Church History and real people who have weaknesses and make mistakes)their faith is shaken and they often end up leaving and reject the reality and truth before them bc their expectations were disappointed. It’s important as we’re traveling the treacherous rivers of our life journey that we Trust the Lord to see what we cannot see and direct what we cannot yet understand so when we crash into some seemingly“sawyerlike” obstacles of understanding, we don’t leave and walk away from the very truths that will bring ultimate peace and clear understanding. Ones False expectations can cause such myopic tunnel vision that we completely miss the Mark! The ultimate example of false expectations are the Jews who had the Savior of the World before them, but crucified Him bc He didn’t fit their expectations of who a Messiah “should be”. It’s tragic bc of the blessings that are forfeited from such a blinded mindset .😔
For some, they thought it was a race to Missouri. They didn't realize that the last to arrive were the "winners"! Any coach of youth sports will run into this at some point. They're teaching resistance training, but the kids just want to be the firs to finish, which then doesn't accomplish the exercise the coach was going for.
Great stuff. The line in a time share presentation and mortality with a mosquitoe lol priceless! Sure love it faith in the Lord. It is ruff I'm holding tight to that promise of it will all be worth it.
I loved part 2 of this section. I needed to hear it today - late as it is. Keep bringing us God and to love and to remembrance.

Hank, Where can I find your reference to Elder Scott's statement about "difficult things are layed on the background of a very happy life." ?
Great question! You can find transcripts and show notes for all our episodes at followhim.co/episodes/
Someone said... it's not always for the sower to see the harvest.
