Do they? People say that, but they've been saying that for decades. AFAIK, the research is moving towards a more nuanced picture, but at the end of the day, animals are not humans and assuming they have the same sort of rich inner life that humans do is a bold claim that really requires some supporting evidence.
What we do know with plenty of certainty is that they can feel pain and do have their own wants and needs that need to be respected. But, you're not going to see anything coming from animals any time soon that will warrant the same level of artistic merit as even a middle school short story by a D student.

There was a guy in Taiwan who was also doing those videos and he ended up in jail. The reason the guy in China didn't end up in jail is that he only killed strays, not cats purchased by someone from a store. Since the cats had no value and no owner, there was no one to file damages and as such no crime. There's not really many animal protection laws for wild animals, or strays. Unless an animal is protected by law like Panda's, and a few others, or legally belongs to someone, you can basically do anything you want to it and it's not illegal. That why you hear of markets selling things like bats and pangolins, because a lot of farms actually grow exotic wild animals for people to eat, and for chinese medicine because it's not illegal.

As has already been said, animal abuse featues highly in psychopaths profiling. What the schools could have done is accepted him on the proviso he undertake psychiatrict assessment every few months and take medication if need be. Any lapse will result in imprisonment. Under no circumstances is he to have a pet.

If he has any sense of remorse. He should admit he's wrong and apologize. Understand he's wrong. Now if he was raised seeing this type of behavior then it comes from somewhere. But he can change .

He starts small by abusing small creatures. Once he holds some kind of position, he'll start abusing his power by bullying his colleagues or employees. So no, he shouldn't be given any chance.

I would have to hear the story of the abuse itself to make an informed decision. I am not saying any form of abuse is acceptable. I would need to know the info to determine if he should be kept out of school.

I know that this suggestion would be financially infeasible but what if he were required to be evaluated and participate in therapy while he is in school. He should also be required to do community service. Perhaps some of the community service could be with an animal welfare organization. Upon graduation he can be released from the program if there are no further issues or referred to parole if there are still concerns. Of course, all of this is assuming the student was convicted of the crime of animal cruelty.

I think his problems are all of his own making. If he’s going to retaliate against society because he isn’t allowed to continue academically then that just proves the schools correct in their decision.

No animals wildlife or non wildlife should go through that. Ones two many sometimes the animals have to put to asleep so they won’t suffer.
I wander the people enjoy it. And experience what’s it’s like to get abuse. And get beat on. Left outside in all kinds a weather all changed up. No food and water. And abandon. And hear the cry!!!!!!!!!!!! When they get hit on. and hear the cry about human babies and children. 😢😓🕊God will take care of them.

Honestly if he wanted to go to school then he should not have hurt animals. People can say what they want but they all respond hard when it comes to child abuse and so they should with animal abuse... otherwise if that difference still exists then how can we call ourselves human whilst we rather hurt being that can't even understand us whom are supposed to be our best friends or even family...

A couple of months ago here in Hawaii they found a Monk Seal dead, the police were searching for suspects because apparently it had been stabbed. Monk Seals are a protected species, whenever they come on land volunteers will cordon off the area and keep people from getting too close. I think you have a serious mental illness to harm an animal, but this goes beyond that because it’s a huge risk to injure a seal and get caught. My theory is the perpetrator is a homeless person, probably suffering from mental illness. The motive is all the attention and adoration the Monk Seal has when they arrive on the beaches. Someone was making a point that ignoring their plight while providing free healthcare and food to animals makes them want revenge. What do you think?

I'm confused. China is not known for animal abuse. I thought the philosophy in China was if it walks crawls or swims it can be eaten. Did this student not eat the animals after or what. I have seen dreadful things done to creatures in China in the name of food and they don't necessarily have to be dead at the time of consumption.
