Bullying can be a tough situation because there’s not always an easy way to handle it. If students let it happen, then they become a punching bag. Even if they report it, the bullying doesn’t always stop. The bully gets punished and they continue the same behavior. If the person being bullied tries to stand up for themselves, then they may get in trouble as well. It’s a difficult situation to find good balance in.

One of my favorite bully”centric” episodes in TV is Recess, “Gus’s Last Stand”. It tackles some of the same thoughts in this episode like standing up for yourself and the continued harassment after reporting to faculty

Knowing the bully’s schedule can also help you deduce the fastest routes between classrooms, which I guess is what Ned means. That can help you walk along routes that don’t overlap with the bully’s routes.

I remember when I was in kindergarten I was bullied on the bus by a guy three years older than me, I told the bus driver, guidance counselor, teachers, principal nothing happened my mom told me "son I don't encourage fighting but if nothing is being done than sometimes fighting is necessary" that's what happened, I fought back and well broke his nose. But funny enough I was later suspended from the bus for a month. My elementary school didn't care they I think only do the what they call the zero tolerance plan because I think it's required from the school board. Reporting it to teachers and the principal only made things worse. The bullying only stopped when I fought back.

    • @TheCrazyDuelist

I was about to share a similar story, they always throw out that 0 tolerance policy, yet don't do anything about it until you defend yourself. This always seemed to happen where I grew up so nobody would report it bc of the fear of getting in more trouble than the bullies & also being chastised by your peers, or get bullied even more/worse in some cases

I unfortunately did have to deal with bullies. Specifically in middle school. One of them actually realized how hurtful they were being though and matured a lot by 8th grade and apologized for what he did. And I could tell he was being sincere. And we’ve been great friends ever since. And still have a healthy friendship. The other bully though was from 7th grade and this one really liked picking on me. Especially since I was sensitive and really emotional. That one never matured and I made sure to stay from them. And even told them off. Because even if I was sensitive. I wasn’t a pushover.

I was bullied a lot growing up (expect high school when I changed schools). I got bullied for the way I talked and for liking anime. In middle school a group of boys would throw things at me from paper balls to a broken pencils that almost hit me in the eye.
The teachers never did anything. They would say I'm either being too sensitive or don't interact with them. That's not easy when you are in the same class as your bully and see them every single day. They only left me alone when I fought back. I either told them off or I would either threaten to physically harm them or myself.

I hate bullies I had a bad experience with them and didn't tell my parents the next few years I had been the sickest I had ever been. The worst part was that the teachers didn't care . And If I told my dad who was and still is a big name in the field of education it would all be fixed instantly but when my dad found out lets just say a lot of people were in trouble when I changed schools another kid tried to bully me at my new school and I beat him until he had red face. Moral of the story don't let others bully you at school whether it be kids or teachers there is a difference between respect and kindness and a different between letting people walk over you. You may get into trouble with the educational system if you' fight back' but it's best to teach the bully a lesson before things go out of hand and you go into depression at an early age and come out of it after a long time.

I have seen students drinking coffee at school before. In fact, my old high school actually served coffee with school breakfasts, and I even saw some students taking their coffee into their first-period classes. (They served the coffee in clear plastic cups with straws, kind of like what you’d see at some restaurants like Torchy’s. If you aren’t familiar with Torchy’s, that’s a chain of taco restaurants that owns a place in my county, and they have plastic cups for the self-serve drink machines.)

Why does it feel like a lot of media involving bullies tends to defend them or excuse their behavior also, here are two shows you should check out. The first is Fillmore, the Disney cartoon that takes old cop shows and put them in a middle school setting the second is Wayside just about a very unusual school And the principal is very crazy episode has him fire half his school faculty just to build a gondola Canal another one has him basically in a way to improve efficiency has all afterschool activities taking place during school hours and all actual school happening after school

4:19 They're putting a LOT of trust into thinking that Loomer's mother is going to do that specifically rather than try to hold Ned and Cookie accountable.
13:23 If I were invisible and had to deal with Loomer, I would probably pretend to be the voice of God and scare him into not bullying people anymore.
13:48 When I was in high school there were teachers who would allow students into their classrooms during free periods where they would drink coffee, eat snacks, and talk with the teachers, and at least one of my teachers even allowed students to play video games with him in his classroom during lunch. If this took place at my school, the only potential problem with Gordy doing this would be if he were to do it in the main office without the permission of the principal, but if he did it in his own office, and he didn't have to do any work at that particular time, and the students in his room weren't skipping class, then there would be no problem.

Here’s another cartoon I remember called the replacements basically a brother and sister have the abilities to replace anyone they want with someone they think is better. There’s an episode about bullying and it’s about the brother becoming one and there’s something that I think anyone tried to talk to someone will recognize they claim they have to see it to punish them and the bully that attacked the brother took his shoes and when Todd points us out the guy points. How do I know you didn’t come to school without shoes and punishes him for coming to school without shoes and then his sister tried to have him and the boy talk it out that doesn’t go well and the security guard doesn’t help him because it’s after hours

Growing up, I pretty much despise bullies as much as scammers and as much as those who believe in hate. only time I experienced kids being bullied was in middle school. However, one of the reason's I noticed kids not telling on the bullies is due to peer persona of them being labeled a "wuss" and outcasted amongst their classmates.
However, for kids I've noticed that did tell on a bully, especially if the bully was popular or had numerous friends, that kid would become a target to mean spirited pranks and hazing. It got even worse for those kids, especially if they lived in the same neighborhood of the bully and his friends, especially when waiting at the same bus stop for the school bus.
I think one of the few times, I've noticed the stopping of bullying, was when the school's guidance counselor got involved , and had a peer discussion meeting with the Bully and the victim student, in which the bully was "scared straight " after being told that there would be consequences, such as police involvement or expulsion, if the action of bullying did not stop.
Aside from those examples, I have noticed that non-nonsense teachers were the best at mitigating school bullying. It just made it easier for kids to not need to tell on a bully since a no-nonsense teacher would quickly take notice and put a stop to it.

There’s an episode of Fillmore that does with bullying and mixes it with being a vigilante I like how they show different kinds of bullying there is jock, bullying mean girl, bullying and academic bullying basically someone who’s more of a geek, but still push people down. There’s also a point where the main character feels like you should let the bullies feel what it’s like, and one of the bullies that was targeted was given a bodyguard for mentioning bullies. They could be a victim, and I like how the bully points out that Fillmore that she was supposed to get protection and accuses him of letting her get attacked and she calls him a bully too

It depends on what is meant by “standing up” to the bully. If the victim is attacked they typically aren’t punished. If the victim agreed to fight the bully and makes no attempt to tell someone, they are punished too. Every situation is different.

I remembered I was getting bullied by 2 kids in elementary school growing up to the point they were physically assaulting me, I reported it multiple times but the teachers/councilors never did anything. So i took the advice of my parents to defend myself if they were actually hitting me, so one time they were literally holding me down & both assaulting/kicking me, so I finally defended myself (no blood was shed or broken bones, I was literally only like in 1st grade lol) and somehow I got more in trouble than they did (suspended for multiple days) & they just got a slap on the wrist and a one day suspension. They eventually stopped after that incident, but my mother caused a huge stirr with the office bc I had reported the bullying multiple times & nothing was done, yet I was still the one who got punished more than them. I know during this time the show was made, especially when I was in school, alot of kids back then would get bullied worse & looked down upon by most kids for going to a teacher or someone of authority. Back then it came across to alot of kids that teachers didn't actually seem to care much for it, so sadly you somehow had to handle it yourself. That's what I liked about this episode, bc from my experience I was onboard with Ned & cookies plan (as extreme as it was) but they eventually just settled it without it getting worse (although it still pretty much continued throughout the rest of the show funny enough lol)

Back in high school the Principal and Vice Principals would use a Mobile app/Website called Remind to send out announcements about what's coming up. However, Remind also allowed students to contact the Administrators. During a class I would send a message to an administrator and the office would sometimes buzz into the classroom and call the student to an administrator's office. Students who bullied me would beg me not to report them through Remind, and however, I would still report them and they would get in trouble.

I was bullied in high school and did get into a fist fight for self-defense because the bully wanted me to pay him for my chair in every class subject ($0.27 for Math, English, History, Art Class, etc etc). He forced me to pay money when I don't have money at the time, he pestered me and then punched him in the face and did a DDT Wrestling move to the concrete floor. We were fighting for like 30 seconds punching each other on the floor and our teacher learned about the situation and escorted us to the guidance counselor's office. We became friends in the next day, probably he got scared cuz I broke his arm that time. I realized I became a bully after that moment, he gets so scared of me when I go near him. I tried to avoid making the same mistake again when I made it to college. I instead befriended with the bullies and hang out with them after school. The bullies, were so upset, thinking they were the reason why I dropped out of college, but its all mostly due to personal issues I can't avoid. After all these years, I still think I'm the bully. I'm known to be sarcastic and like to roast people.
