- Hey folks! In today’s video we’re back with more modded Balatro. Here, we’re trying out the Cryptid mod created by members of the Balatro Discord. Cryptid is an intentionally unbalanced mod that adds a bunch of new Jokers, enhancements, decks, challenges, and even stakes to Balatro so there’s plenty to explore. For this run, I tried the Deck of Equilibrium which gives all cards the same chance of appearing in shops, making it so, among other things, higher rarity Jokers appear more often and vouchers can show up at any point instead of once per round. Enjoy the video!
Balatro is a poker roguelike deck building game centered around creating powerful synergies and winning with big hands. In it, you can combine valid poker hands with unique Jokers in order to create varied synergies and builds. Earn enough chips to beat blinds, including challenging boss blinds, to make it to the next ante and progress your run!

Nothing scratches my brain in the wrong way like seeing balatro without all the “counting” animations.
I think just like x100 would be a lot better
It's especially a shame after he got Exponentia. The Power Mult sound is very satisfying.

@@Sam-me5wz yes however playing this mod i had a turn last over an hour with the scoring animations, so. i can see why they did it
I can't follow along what's going on. Speed 4 is bad enough, but at least I can slow that down or pause to figure it out. This just isn't Balatro without the animations.
Please turn the animations back on.
Roffle walks into a casino with a picture of waluigi, several illegal jokers and 300 pictures of the dwarf planet eris. He knocks out the dealer, takes the entire deck and slaps down 5 kings. The framerate of the universe slows down as he scores infinite chips. He cashes out for the gdp of Bulgaria. He buys a picture of a wraith and rewinds time to before the big bang.

I tried this mod quite a few times and it is more a battle against your computer than the blinds. It has also literally been updated like twice in the past 3 days.
Canvas is guarentee crashing if you have too many jokers, which is a shame because it seems very fun (strong)
@@adam17tt this is true, i tried it out had like 5 of them at once with quite a few cards to the right and left, and lets just say i had to reconfigure my cards to even get past the round with a minimal high card, it took 3 hours to go through the animations, and that my flush was Lvl. 2.01928377285724e+137, cause white hole
I wanted to try out the Cryptid mod but I couldn't get it to work, just crash after crash. Do you happen to have a video recommendation on how to do a proper install or is it easier to just wait for the mod to be more stable? Thanks!
The mod requires steamodded 1.0.0, which I can't for the love of all that's holy, get to work. I feel like I need to learn programming to get it to work. There are no videos explaining how to either, just text that says "oh yeah use git", which I don't know how to use...
@@Le0n0I got it working without any issues and I didn't have to do any programming. I use windows though so it may be different for your device. Are you sure your antivirus isn't deleting the lovely version file?
End game Modded Balatro always looks to me like that pokemon meme image that asks "What is wrong with this picture?" And it shows level -8 squirtle named charmander with negative hp.
And it's using Solar Beam while the attack graphic is that of Thunderbolt.

"makes all cards have equal probability in shops" oh, huh. i guess it's kinda neat for rare jokers to appear more but i don't really see why this had to be a whole unique deck

I have mixed feelings about a mod that speeds up hand scoring. On one hand, it makes the game go a lot faster, especially with high scoring late game stuff. On the other hand, I don't get to hear card go ding and see number go up.
Well in this instance if there wasn’t this, the video’s length would probably be a day
you can toggle this effect on and off, after playing with the mod myself, i created 700+ consumables in one turn which would’ve taken like an hour to load

Now that e308 isn’t the limit to scoring anymore you could theoretically get to even higher antes than 39

i cant remember what it says exactly but the mod definitely lets you get into exponent numbers of ante
Kinda weird how this mod has a theme with Jolly Jokers, making Jolly Jokers, benefiting from Jolly Jokers, giving you the room for more Jolly Jokers, but also makes it the worst thing you can do.
I think it's a joke towards the fact that the Jolly Joker is one of the most useless Jokers in the base game and almost any other Joker will just do it's job better, so to 'fix' that there's a whole set of cards dedicated to making the collection of them it's own playstyle. Now why all of the cards in that subset are related to the letter M is what I don't understand...

In all seriousness I’d like to applaude Localthunk for making the game robust enough to account for all these insane interactions to the point of the UI resizing accordingly even if there’s awkward overlaps, and to the modders finding a way to make the score count exceed naneinf (which for reference is a measly 10^308 chips)
calling 10^308 "measly" surprised me until i played the mod and got 10^1704 before ante 3
the Talisman mod says it should extend the upper limit to 10{1000}10 chips
(for reference in basic terms {2} is tetration/repeated exponentiation, {3} is repeated {2}/tetration, so on up to {1000})
which i feel like you shouldnt be able to get anywhere near just with a few exponents?

yeah after getting the mod myself it turns out theres a setting for what the max should be
10{1000}10 _is_ an option but the default is in fact ee308
@@thatoneguy9582 I’m actually curious just how many bytes you need to even store 10{1000}10 unless it just stores the exponents of the exponents of the exponents… endlessly until that point (which would still probably be a lot of bytes for a single value)

Cryptid makes me think of a Balatro version of TBOI's Fiend Folio. Intentionally pretty unbalanced and good to play when you just want a fun time.

If you look closely, there is a comma before the 967, because it is actually ante -1.2 million~. The joker lowered the ante for every $10 spent, and it considered 12 million dollars spent
Not actually 1.2 million, just got a chance to read the joker again, but still over 1,000 at the very least, I'm not doing the math for that

I like how he completely didn't notice that Exponent card was giving him ^27471022 mult, and gained another ^741 mult every time a XMult was triggered.
If he had 2 Mult before that card took effect, he would end up with a Mult of 4.3007 * 10^8,269,606 after it's effect applied. I swear the numbers being manipulated here could probably start to approach Graham's number if there was no limit to how big of a number the game could process in one sitting.

I think the infinity in this game is something like 10e308e308? So 10^(10^308)? Might have to start breaking out the Knuths up arrow notation
If normal naneinf is 10e308 and this mod supports double exponentiation, thats the only logical conclusion.

It used to be 10e10e308 but has now been updated to 10{1000}10 which is physically impossible to reach

I decided to try out this mod after watching and it really does go absolutely insane. I highly highly recommend using the Incantation mod along with it to make consumables stack and able to be used/sold in bulk.
would love to see more modded runs, and with different goals than just "beat the game" so you can show off more of the silliness. I wonder what other boss blinds they came up with!

it would be nice if the scoring speed just scaled up faster up to the point where it just stops and auto-completes the score, instead of just doing this auto calc immediately. no beeps n boops feels so wrong....

It did, it jumped from 72 to 78 when the hand was played and then eventually the new kings spawned in
