    Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you! These have been on my wish list and l had given up on ever affording them. I have the ingredients already for this alternative. Brilliant! It amazes me how much craft supplies cost and l have found that there is usually a cheaper alternative somewhere. You deserve a medal!💐

      Same here. I cannot afford buying them because here arts/crafts supplies are so expensive due to taxation. So I use mostly recycled materials and things I can collect in nature 🌲🌱🍁Thank you so much! Hugs from a Brazilian living in Finland 🇧🇷🇫🇮♥

    I can’t wait to try this. 🤩 I’m thinking adding some mica powder might be nice since my pastels are all matte. A coffee cup warmer might work nicely for a slow low heat melt. Hmmmm I might have an empty pallet of lip gloss that might work for storage🤗

    Great idea, DIYing supplies is so much fun. Consider making smaller amounts of each colour as coconut oil will go rancid over time. That way you use up what you have before you may have to toss it. And sealing it is definitely a good idea for the same reason. Even the commercial metallic waxes can mold and end up getting tossed.

    Noit, you are quite the chemist! It seems like there are many uses for coconut oil but yours is the most clever! I wonder if the same melting and mixing could be done, using a low power in a microwave and small glass bowls or dishes? I also love the look of the texture paste covered with black gesso. Thanks for sharing these ideas with us. They are much appreciated, believe me. :-)

      The metallic waxes by Viva Decor are made with beeswax. They are prone to growing mold because of the beeswax, but it's a very good wax for making the metallic wax colors. Scraping the wax out of the container with a pallet knife instead of dipping fingers in the container seems to help prevent the mold.

      If I will add glue it will not be in the consistency of wax that can be rubbed on texture. Glue and eyeshadow are great as paint or glaze

    have you ran into the issue of it going rancid (smelling bad)?

    Hi, it’s a few years since you made this video and these metallic pastes. Just wondering how they have lasted after this time? Wondering about it as you used coconut oil. Also how did you melt it in the kitchen over the hob? Did you still put the oil and colours into a metal dish inside a saucepan on the heat or did you mix it directly in an old (?) with pan?

    • @NoitArt
      @NoitArt  3 года назад +2

      They have lasted as the day I made them. I used aluminum pan to melt the oil pastels and than added the coconut oil and stirred. Than into the plastic container

    • @eh2179
      @eh2179 3 года назад

      @@NoitArt I used a pancake frying pan, very flat, and put 4 small aluminium cups in and the mixture. Stirred each with a different lolly stick. Not sure I’ve used enough coconut oil...one teaspoon per pastel stick.

    I wonder if you can not find cheap oil pastels if metallic crayons would work if you added a bit more oil or if the finished product would end up being to oily ? Also, does using the coconut oil eventually make it go rancid ?
