That is...extremely depressing, to be honest. But a very valuable look at the process behind how getting shows on the air works. Great interview!

    This explains so much.

Makes sense. That title and that book is enough for me to see a whole series. (I would have done it differently than the show that was on the air) We should be able to gain enough interest in our idea from the short logline. Simple, clear, sell-able, so that they want and ask for more. Thank you for sharing.

An idea is all you need, and I have, many. I am not a writer or producer, but the creativity is there, but who to make those things live is the question.

You could learn as much in this 3 minutes as you could at 4 years in film school

Never heard of the show Undateable until this interview, but I look it up and it's a 1 season show from 2014 but this interview was put up in 2016. How was it still on the air?

well he clearly needed to see something .. visual references have a lot of pull

It wasn't just that it was visual - it was universal. Looking at the pictures he immediately knew these "undatable" guys because he knows or has seen those types around.

He has a very similar story with Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Man, that must suck to pour your heart into an idea and then a "non-idea" gets picked up in 8 seconds!

This is depressing, He's saying I have to kiss a commissioners ass to get my story produces that may not resonate with him. Screw the commissioner.

People miss the point of his story. Instead of telling an idea the same way your teacher is trying to teach a subject, create an amazing pitch bible/document. Show something visually cool or eye-catching.
    BE CREATIVE FOR GODS SAKE.
This is a creative medium, and if you’re mad someone can get an idea picked up so easily without giving you the entire details then maybe your idea isn’t as good as you believe.
Not to discourage you, but just to let you know. Hey, if what you wanna tell right now seems impossible to describe or pitch? Then create an idea that CAN be made. Work on that, get your feet in the door, and etc. Then down the line, YOU yourself will make this project you always wanted to do because you’ll have the credibility, finances, and whatever else.

Bill. I'm no one everything you have written... I've thought of. .... Seinfeld .. it's funny. I kinda think as fast. it's a curse. How hard is it to be you? Can you sleep? Brain is always firing . I'm here. I'm as just as crazy as you feel all the time. It's gotta come out. somehow you figured it out I think. Crazy as fuck but yet functional. You don't have to hire me but, if you could, tell me how not to go crazy with all the silly ideas in my head.

I've tried to sell my true life , life threatening encounters with a infamous Iconic American Vintage ( 60s to 00s) SERIAL KILLERS. TV 40 episodes of action @ the places a outsider can access , sent to some big names ....no interest
