You're an inspiration to anyone that sees themselves becoming a Physician. Husband, Dad, Soldier, Physician, all around great guy! Thank you for continuing to share your journey with us, Dr. Webb!
I’m a junior in high school and have been thinking of becoming a orthopedic spine surgeon since freshmen year and I find your videos as an inspirational follow that dream. I sometimes wake up thinking “what if I’m not smart enough” or “What about spending time with family” and things of that nature but I find ur videos helpful to remove those thoughts. Im already stressing out for no reason without me even being in college yet. The only thing I’m hoping for now is that If i get accepted to med school, that I don’t stay in debt as my family isn’t wealthy and I’m hoping me becoming a doctor will also change that.
Man, it seems like a grind rounding at up to 4 hospitals a day! Podcasts and lectures are a great way to squeeze in some productivity. A self-driving car could free up even more time 👀
I want to be an Orthopedic surgeon. I love the human anatomy its intriguing. I'm 14, and I've watched a lot of videos on the human anatomy, I even started learning chemistry last year in Hope's to get good at it at a young age, especially for the mcat. Lol I still have like 9 years.
There's an anesthesiologist who has a RUclips channel, and her husband is an orthopedic surgeon. They have a ranch in Texas, so I thought that's who you were going to visit. lol. Nice video as usual.
Man, I love how you've seemed to ignore every "stereotype" identity, which is so so hard, because we're shaped by the society around us. Black Surgeon Cowboy RUclipsr. Fuck off I'm me!
Hooray for podcasts that you can listen to in your car. Have you ever tried AUDIBLE [ digital files of books ] ?? Have you tried BLINKIST? It's supposed to be digital files of book summaries. The company says in their TV commercials that they take all the most popular books and compress them into fifteen minute summaries. It's a beautiful, informative TV commercial.
I thought I was done with MD. I used to watch your videos a lot in my freshman year of college because I thought I was going to go into medicine, it took me one failure in biology to give up on my dreams. Now I’m on my junior year, studying psychology and always thinking of MD. Is it to late for me?
If your science GPA is above 3.5, you're still in the running just as much as anyone else. Apply broadly to both MD and DO schools (and aim for that magic 510 number on your MCAT) and you're golden. If your GPA is below 3.5, continue to do well in school and crush the MCAT, but consider taking a year or two off to do a post bac program to get those grades up. OR if you don't want to waste any time, apply to the Carribean (which imo is a bad idea unless you have contacts who can get you into residency. Otherwise you're paying 300K dollars for a 50/50 shot.) If you're below a 3.0, I'm gonna go ahead and say don't bother and pick a different career. I'm 23 and I just started my 1st year of med school. There are people in my class that are 29, 32, one is even 35. So its' never too late.
@@emperormouse5487 Even if she's below a 3.0, she still has a shot at stateside schools. Consider post-bacc or graduate programs that gear you for entry into medical school if your GPA is low. A killer MCAT also helps. - Current M3
What’s your opinion on VBT spine surgery I had it 3 months ago do you think that you would ever learn to do the surgery. My surgeon has the same background as you, he was in the military.

Doc, How do u think college athletics would affect my chances of admission into med school. I want to play in college but I don’t want it to cause me to not get into med school because ultimately college sports is just 4 years and med school will affect the rest of my life. Do u think, in the long run, if I want to pursue medicine, it’s smarter to opt out of college sport and try to do as well as I can academically or is the small hit I take on grades not too significant. How would you respond to this and what would you do in this situation? Thx
If you are passionate in both, both will work. I was a NCAA D1 athlete for football and I know it greatly helped my medical school application process. Now in med school I can see how balancing college sports and a rigorous academic course load helps me be good at managing my time in medical school. Don't let sports get in the way of your education, but if you are dedicated there is no reason you need to give up on your athletic passion.
Im an M1 just started a month ago. Theres like 5 college athletes in my class of 104 (which is a lot). It is definitely doable and college athletics stand out as a phenomenal extracurricular.
Hey Dr. Webb. amazing videos and always love them. What are you opinions on tattooing for a medical students? as i have one on my upper arm (visible a bit when wearing scrubs) and another on the torso area (invisible under a scrub). are they going to hurt my chance of getting in medical school and matching into a competitive residency program?
I don't know if you'll see this, but I myself have scoliosis. My spine is sort of off to my left side just a bit off center. I'm curious of if there is any good way outside of surgery to at least aid this issue. I just want to know your thoughts. I'm not in pain most of the time, but doing certain things can quickly fatigue my back. Thank you.

Hey Dr. W, next time give a sista a heads up video is about fishing... :-) serious question: how do I find an African American Orthopedic Surgeon in D or M or a dermatologist? Is a black doctor directory? Dr. Simone said that there only 6% of doctors are black. Is that true?

Love the music.
I know there’s a lot of softies out there but don’t be afraid to pull out those real fun target shooters, some ARs and what not! Great video Dr. Webb
