The funnels are just an optional part of the coaster, not shown in this video. If the ball rolls into the top of the funnel at an angle (not straight toward the center), it should loop around it multiple times before falling through the hole in the middle.
Hi - try making a taller hill before the loop. This is a good topic for a science project - how tall does the hill need to be? Also make sure your loop is a smooth curve and does not have any kinks in it.
Make sure the transition from the hill to the loop at the bottom is smooth. If the track turns *too* quickly or has a kink in it, the marble can lose energy in a collision with the track and not make it through the loop.
The templates are available for download from our website (you will need to create an account to download): www.sciencebuddies.org/stem-activities/paper-roller-coaster#instructions?from=RUclips
My daughter’s classroom with Hannah working on this and it’s going pretty easy but she has made a few mistakes but it is OK because we do have two hilltops
It depends on how big you want them to be able to make their roller coasters. At a bare minimum you will probably want at least two sections for a hill and a loop, along with two supports to hold it up.
Yes - this project was originally designed for a classroom environment (where a teacher might not want to trust younger students with a bunch of hot glue guns), but you could use a hot glue gun instead. Just make sure not to leave glue residue on the track - you don't want the marble to get stuck.
I have no idea what the hell is happening i dont know how to make it this is why listen to people actually talking helps a little bit :l.... but yeah i can try doing this... i guess
5 years ago and this is still used by science, good job by your popularity here!
nice
I am doing it in class right now. Really fun!
not fun

THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH FOR THIS!!! This is so great! Will be trying with my students and my own children this summer!
Thanks! We love hearing from teachers who use our resources, please feel free to reach out at scibuddy@sciencebuddies.org to let us know how it went!
I'm not understanding how I am doing this wrong. Been working on this 2 days

We did this for school, kinda fun
谢谢你制作这个视频,它对我帮助很大 ❤
I needed this bro thanks
We did this in school and it was so fun
We dId this is in school yesterday and it was fun
I did this as a science project and finished in 2 days
This is so helpful, thank you!!!!
The most bombastic music
Thank you so much post this video
Thank you.
i have to do this for my class

How do you do the curve on the sheet
What are the funnels for?
They with the kit when I print them

I see.
Any tips on how tape the curved section?
no
If you pause the video around 1:38 you can see how the curved section is taped.
Dont be rude@@pinutelbs8644
ahhh help i put the tape on wrong in the video but it still holdssss@@Science.Buddies
and yes dont be rude@@amogh959i agree with u
The marble isn’t going through the loop, could there be a reason why?

Its not getting enough energy. Without the energy it needs, it will not loop. Try making the hill higher for more speed- And make the start taller.
Good one
I didn't find the link to print the templates😅
The templates are available here: www.sciencebuddies.org/stem-activities/paper-roller-coaster#materials
OMG ! Nice
Can anyone tell which tape he is using?
It is just regular clear office tape (Scotch or equivalent).
Very nice
How do you make the loops??
That’s what I was gonna ask!
What type of paper did you use???
The paper in this video is neon cardstock, available on Amazon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MRF0AX4/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Can I use normal typing paper to help save money or is cardstock a must? thx@@Science.Buddies
Hi my marble isn’t going through the hoop…the hill is already very tall and the loop is very curved there’s gotta be a solution here…
Make sure the transition from the hill to the loop at the bottom is smooth. If the track turns *too* quickly or has a kink in it, the marble can lose energy in a collision with the track and not make it through the loop.
Thanks
I love you
I got to do this in science class, it was mad goofy
i do not know how to get the paper
Same
Office works
Is this potential and kinetic energy?
Yes, this is a great project to demonstrate potential and kinetic energy!
Pretty cool but making shapes are hard
I am doing it now ☺️
Unable to get the templates from your website
Hi - can you try this link and let us know if it works? www.sciencebuddies.org/science-activities/paper-roller-coaster-template-kit-2022-07-11.pdf

Please see the links in the video description - you can buy a kit with pre-printed templates or download the templates from our site.

Super
ahh the loop is so hard
Anyone doing this in mrs hill
How many strips of paper do I give each student?

NAH I CANT GET THE TAPE ON

can we use hot glue instead of tape?
Yes - this project was originally designed for a classroom environment (where a teacher might not want to trust younger students with a bunch of hot glue guns), but you could use a hot glue gun instead. Just make sure not to leave glue residue on the track - you don't want the marble to get stuck.
Can i use color paper
Yes, you can use any type of paper.
Does anyone know how to cut the support
I will ratofify this down

This is the most ridiculous roller coaster ever. The marble will not go around the loop.
Kinda rude
Man It works how does it not work for you??
It works tho,i tried making one,as long as you have a higher end better hills for the marble to gain enough kinetic energy
