So this was just a small story time video about my first toxic friend and her Karen of a mother that I felt compelled to share with you all between lots and lots of shifts at work.

Imagine being so predatory that you would yell at a child for a beef you had with their parents. This Karren sounds like someone who crawled out of hell because the devil kicked her seedy ass out. The fact that you had to deal with that as a kid is very heartbreaking.

That horrible woman probably made sure no one else was around when she yelled at you about your mother.
I was a weenie as a child. If an angry woman stormed up to me like that I would have ran screaming. Deepest sympathies that you had to actually hear what she said.

I definitely understand what its like to completely miss the red flags about toxic friendships. I'm sorry this happened to you, and completely agree with you on the morals...even when its hard 😅

I was in a toxic friendship, for 3 years. She was so nice and a great friend in the first year and then she met my other friends. She started to be a pick me friend, (I'd that a term?) She would put me down to make herself seem cooler in front of my friends. My self esteem what shite so I just let it happen. Until year 3 came around and near the end of the school year I was fed up, one day at lunch I chewed her out, and oh, she could not even give a valid point to her insults and constant manipulation besides "because your annoying" or "I just don't like you" and that was it we weren't friends. It was so freeing and I got to keep most of my friends and make way cooler and new ones!💞

I think the main change between kids and adults making friends, is kids don't have a clear concept of what a garbage human being looks like, so they latch on to everyone nearby who is close in age, inevitably also catching some of the toxic ones along the way. and then think they have lots of friends.
Adults on the other hand, have been burned before, and now know what red flags to look for. So only latch on to people who are worth it.
The change isn't that you can't make friends as an adult, the change is realizing that most people are not worth being friends with, and the ones that are worth it, are the minority often hard to find.

Not excusing it, but as someone who was abused as a kid this set off a lot of abuse flags for me, showing up at your friend's house late because you don't want to go home, the fact the mother was so aggressive at you, the fact ruby turned on you and later turned violent...
