Hoy, caminemos por la Avenida Corrientes, desde Calle Suipacha hasta Avenida Callao.
La avenida Corrientes es el eje de la vida nocturna y bohemia de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires. En sus bares y teatros se acuñó el tango, y a lo largo de su historia lo interpretaron en ellos las grandes orquestas y cantores, entre ellos el ídolo popular Carlos Gardel, quien vivió a su vera. Sus desaparecidos teatros Politeama Argentino, Apolo, Odeón y el viejo Ópera, fueron escenario de los más altos exponentes de la lírica mundial, así como del nacimiento del considerado teatro nacional: el drama gauchesco Juan Moreira.
Su nombre actual le fue dado oficialmente en 1822 en homenaje a la ciudad argentina de Corrientes en reconocimiento a su fervor por la causa de la Revolución de Mayo.
Fue calle angosta hasta que en 1931 comenzó su ensanche, concluido en 1936.

Today, let's walk along Corrientes Avenue, from Suipacha Street to Callao Avenue.
Corrientes Avenue is the hub of the nightlife and bohemian life of the City of Buenos Aires. Tango was coined in its bars and theaters, and throughout its history it was interpreted in them by great orchestras and singers, among them the popular idol Carlos Gardel, who lived by its side. Its disappeared theaters Politeama Argentino, Apolo, Odeon and the old Opera, were the scene of the highest exponents of world poetry, as well as the birth of the considered national theater: the gaucho drama Juan Moreira.
Its current name was officially given in 1822 in homage to the Argentine city of Corrientes in recognition of its fervor for the cause of the May Revolution.
It was a narrow street until its widening began in 1931, completed in 1936.
