one of my all time favroite books. i love kate dicamillo and her writing. she has a way of expressing complex emotions and life experiences in such a beautiful and touching way that kids and adults can relate to. loved listening to you read it ☺️
Thank you Joe, Mr Zimmerman, you helped me depart the year 2020 and dip into 2021 with your soothing tone. Thanks to you, 2021 came without a shock and will hopefully continue on this way. Your clever wit has got me through the night more than once and I will forever be grateful. May your humorous observations and yarns continue far longer than Jackson's parrot or Pony Danza. You are appreciated.❤️
Oh, Joe. This is exceedingly beautiful and so are you. There's a scene in As Good As It Gets where Jack Nicholson says something to Helen Hunt along the lines of, "I don't understand how people can walk in and out of this diner every day and not realize that they just walked past one of the most amazing human beings on this earth. But, I know it. And that makes me feel good about me." That's exactly how I feel. There are billions of videos on the internet with trillions of views and yet, somehow, I did something right enough in life to get to witness this stunningly wonderful, deep moment of authenticity, vulnerability, and love, tucked away quietly on a 'comedy' RUclips channel. What a gift this is and what a gift you are. p.s. You didn't read the Coda! I will leave it here... "Once there was a china rabbit who was loved by a little girl. The rabbit went on a journey and fell overboard and was rescued by a fisherman. He was buried under garbage and unearthed by a dog. He traveled for a long time with the hobos and worked for a short time as a scarecrow. Once there was a rabbit who loved a little girl and watched her die. The rabbit danced on the streets of Memphis. His head was broken open in a diner and was put together again by a doll mender. And the rabbit swore that he would not make the mistake of loving again. Once there was a rabbit who danced in a garden in springtime with the daughter of the woman who had loved him at the beginning of his journey. The girl swung the rabbit as she danced in circles. Sometimes they went so fast, the two of them, that it seemed as if they were flying. Sometimes, it seemed as if they both had wings. Once, oh marvelous once, there was a rabbit who found his way home."
Uh oh... now this video isn’t so tucked away and instead has thousands of views, so everyone can see my awkward mushy-book-induced gushing. Dang. Well, Brene Brown would be impressed by my brave vulnerability and that’s what matters, right? 😂 #blessed #butforrealicriedwithyouattheendofthis #notashamed #brave #dovesoap
Just finished this - such a lovely job - simple and true. Captured the heart of this sweet story in your calm and gentle way. Thank you for reading this and treating it with such care ❤️
Okay small story time. Sometime in elementary school- I don't remember what grade, but I'm sure it was probably 2nd or 4th. We read it in class all of us kids sitting on the floor huddled around the teacher and she read. I was one of the only kids that cried my eyes out when she read about Bryce and his sister. And I vaguely remember being given a box of tissues. It stuck with me. I like to think that this is the story that got me into reading. It's why I became obsessed with writing my own stories. I haven't read it since then. Listening to you read it was so nostalgic and cathartic. I sobbed yet again while listening to you read. I don't think that there will ever be a time when I read/listen to this story with completely dry eyes. I love this book so much. Thank you so much for reading it.
Yes, the same with me. I read this book in fifth grade, except it was the opposite with my class. We all cried when Sara Rue died. I'm listening to it again after all these years I'm surprised I forgot so many things about this story. But once we made it to Sara Rue I alr ready started sobbing before he had even reached her death
