I just want to see him sitting in a chair in a dark lit room; with a single small light on his face. He starts looking up to the camera and says "as i walk through the valley of the shadow of death i take a look at my life, and realise its messed up!"

For once.. Ash actually sees what's really going on with Katniss, Peeta, and Gale. Yes Katniss loved Gale from the beginning, but as her best friend and someone for comfort. But Katniss fell madly in love with Peeta while playing "the game".. and in the end she didn't want to hurt either by choosing
Personally as someone who read the books I always thought Katniss cared more for Gale as a friend or brother. She loved him as they were close friends who grew up together...but I don't think she was IN love with him. And she felt guilty because she couldn't return Gale's feelings back in the way he loved her.

@@kpoppy9635 they didn't grow up together though. They didn't know each other before Katniss was 12yo, so they know each other for 5 years at this point.
@ptitepeluche05 they still knew each other for a while and Katniss mentions how Gale was with her as she grew from a little girl to a teen.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Sadly he died from a overdose from speed balling (mixing uppers and downers). Hes had an addiction problems for years but he hid it well.. as the most addicted people do. Ive been watching him for a long time and he has some incredible films under his belt. RIP Phillip.
He was actually clean for a long time and fell off the wagon. Like most that fall off the wagon he started doing an amount that his body used to be built up to withstand but could no longer handle.

was sober for over 20 years, but he got in a pretty bad accident that his doctors put😅 him on opioid pain medication for, and it triggered a relapse that he did not survive.
@@marleinasmom I couldn't remember the exact details. My favorite radio show host refused pain killers when he had his appendix removed cause he feared a situation like this.

remember Peetas skill in the games is strength !!!! all the pounds of flour and things he had to carry in the bakery ! in the first movie he threw the huge medicine ball in front of everyone to show them how strong he was.

Exactly, and besides that, Peeta was effectively a mutt in that moment from the hijacking and, unlike many movies, the general difference in physical strength between men and women is represented in these movies, as well. All of this together plus the surprise of his attack gave Katniss little if any chance for survival without help (and even then, someone had to bash Peeta on the head, HARD, to end the attack).
ash rolling his eyes at gale is my favorite thing. gale is such a leech. i think katniss loves him as a friend and he keeps pushing for more. if she really wanted to, she would go for it. but she hasn't from the beginning.
Then you'd be blindly wrong.
Because Katness has always been in love with Gale.
She ended up developing some feelings for Peeta, but being in a life and death situation. Especially with so much on your shoulders as a teen.
You're bound to end up confused about a lot of things.

I’ve watched so many of these reactions to Hunger Games and Ash is the first guy aggravated with Gale appropriately and I love it.
Technically his aggravation with Gale is not appropriate or warranted.. Gale did nothing wrong up to this point.. he's been a loving and extremely supportive and understanding boyfriend to Katniss, he's actually the 1 who had to sneak around with his girlfriend (Katniss) while watching her pretend to be in a relationship with another man and he handled that better than most men would.. What ur doing is judging Gale on future actions from Mocking Jay pt. 2, which Ash hasn't even seen yet.. How is that appropriate?
Gale was never her boyfriend. He really liked her but Katniss doesn’t even start thinking about a relationship with Gale until he was being treated for the whippings. By then she’s a different person due to the games and is then immediately after thrust back into the 75th hunger games where she only falls in love with Peeta more. She loves Gale but as her best friend and the person who protected her family but she is in love with Peeta. She just feels guilty towards Gale for not loving him the way he loves her which is why it always feels weird when she kisses him. He knows and says it too

Also Gale has done wrong allready. The way he talks about Peeta comes from his grief I get it. But... man the Guy is being tortured and you have no idea what he's going through. It's easy to say you wouldn't do something when you're not the one being tortured 😂...
(And Let's not forget peeta is not only protecting himself. They tortured people near him to force him to talk.)
Also Gale's attitude towards katniss about Peeta is bad since the end of the first movie... they are not together so he has no right to make her feel guilty repetedly. He has done wrong allready in my book... a lot of times...

when they filmed this movie, they shot the interview scenes with peeta early on and actually kept josh and jennifer apart while filming and they all knew how much jennifer loved josh and so her reaction to seeing him in the interview scenes held some sincerity to them seeing him like that

Phillip Seymour Hoffman (playing Plutarch Heavenbee) is in the final movie because they were already in the middle of filming it when he passed. They had to work around the scenes he was supposed to be in that haven’t yet been filmed but he’s in a few.
Plutarch has Katniss' personality down cold, and he knows exactly why she is so valuable as a symbol: her righteous indignation and anger. She's not much of a planner or leader, but at times she can lead by example.
She‘s brave, selfless and authentic. All you need to inspire people.
@@a.j.1819 You're absolutely right, as the first thing that Katniss did that inspired people, in both the districts and the Capitol alike, was her volunteering for her sister. And if an "ordinary", loving, peaceful person like her could be so motivated to fight the oppressors and make them burn, then everyone ought to feel the same way.
So 'Love' was never really a thing Katniss really thought about before the games. Her entire life since her father died was focused on survival. She didn't have time to think of anything else. All through the games and into the revolution, the whole love thing was kind of forced on her and she felt like she had to play along to survive... she developed feelings along the way for Peeta.
exactly, like the only thing she ever really thought about gale was that theyd probably get married just cuz of their families and they were a good hunting team but it wasn't really love

@@alricaneshama I've read the books. Even Katniss said love wasn't something she really thought about. Did she develop feelings for Gale at some point? Sure. But because her focus was on survival and keeping her family alive, she didn't have time to even think about going there with Gale until her hand was forced because of the games.
Ash, to be honest, you don't look like you live in the Capitol, you look like you live in Loompaland, home of the Oompa-Loompas when they aren't making candy for Willy Wonka. And I like that.

@@YoY187 In the books right after Katniss’s Dad dies her family is on the brink of starvation, and no one would help them (including Gale) except for Peeta with the bread and as they all grew up she would always watch Peeta from afar, but one day when she is hunting she runs into Gale and they decided to become hunting partners out of necessity. During this time, Gale was a “manslut” in the district and Katniss only considered him a hunting partner let alone a friend. No romantic intentions at all, but she would still watch Peeta and she didn’t know what that meant and ignored it out of the need of survival and putting food on her table. Her “notice” of Peeta goes so far that when they are reaped in the book, as Effie calls “Peeta Mellark” she literally freezes and internally screams “not him”. When they get home Gale basically “claims” her and treats her like garbage for her relationship with Peeta. There is more but im trying not to spoil things for Ash and Hannah. The books are fantastic. Just read the first chapter alone.
That very last scene is so powerful as she walks up and sees Peeta freaking out in the bed. So sad.
I remember when we saw that in theaters it was devastating and to have the movie finished there was heartbreaking. We honestly couldn't wait for the second part to come out in theaters.

This is my second favourite of the original movies because of the perspective that we didn’t see in the books (because we’re only seeing through Katniss) which were how the rebels react to their Mockingjay. The district 7 “If we burn, you burn with us!” And district 5’s suic!de bombing of the hydroelectric dam while singing The Hanging Tree were so chilling. No one could have made such powerful effect on the revolution as Katniss and her unscripted actions and speeches.

Yes. RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman. It was quite a shock for us when he passed. It was before he shot scenes for Mockingjay part 2 and Effie basically didthe parts he was supposedto do in part 2. It's heartbreaking. He died of an overdose. Drug addiction is a disease. Truly. 😢
He had been sober for more than ten years and relapsed. It's a reminder of just how hard sobriety is.

I decided to re-read the books and rewatch the movies before.... everything... and then when I got to Mockingjay, I really had some hard moments. This isn't a fantasy. It's happening in real life. I can't look at the burnt corpses, the bodies in bags, the bombed hospital, the skeletons under the rubble... it's all really happening right now. And everyone thinks they're Katniss and they're not.

I've been watching first time reactions to these movies lately and all I can think about is what's happening in Gaza. It's chilling how accurate the depictions of violence & suffering & death are, particularly in this movie - and even this is just a tiny taste of what the reality is actually like. What really got to me was the scene of the bombing at the hospital, bc we were seeing the perspective of experienced & trained fighters, and they were fighting back with what little they had. There aren't any people to fight against the Israeli bombings in Gaza. It's only civilians trying to take cover somehow when the entire world around them is falling apart and people are being buried under the rubble. It hurts so much to think of all the pain Palestinians are going through.

A lot of reactors I’ve watched have said the same exact thing about this movie- they don’t trust anything and experience a sense of paranoia. Especially the scene where they say they’re going to rescue Peeta. Another reactor couple also immediately said “no they’re not!” 😂 the books evoke a similar feeling since it’s Katniss’ POV. She struggles to trust, to discern what is actually genuine and what isn’t. I think it really speaks to how well done this movie is that they were able to pull that off. Can’t wait for you guys to watch part 2!!!!
I cannot imagine what they put Peeta through to turn him, or how that affected Katniss, Snow really likes to twist the knife.
This part in the book haunt me :
“Johanna, could you really hear him screaming?”
“That was part of it,” she says. “Like the jabberjays in the arena. Only it was real. And it didn't stop after an hour. Tick, tock.”
Guys, try to remember that Katniss is 17 years old. Remember how erratic you were at 17, nevermind the incredible pressure she's under.
How bout you cut her some slack?
Lumberjacks also have lots of explosives to dig up tree stumps when necessary. Those come in handy for rebellions.
I really hope they watch part 2 and put it up asap. It's so weird having all their reactions except for the last film.....

I mean the first time they kissed, he stole one kiss saying I had to do that even once. The second time : he was in agony... that's pity not love. They clearly are not together and never were. Ash's reactions to Gale is so real😂
Also- in the books Katniss never loved Gale like that, she was never interested because she didn't want a family or kids in the life she was in. That was her best friend who was going through the same thing as her. Peeta was an act turned real but there weren't romantic feelings for Gale even though she admitted that it'd make sense for her to be with him.
As a Prison Break and Hunger Games fan, I was excited to see T-Bag too. When Ash said, "Just don't let him hold your pocket," I screamed! 🤣

Philip Seymour Hoffman (Plutarch) died (in real life) of an accidental acute drug overdose. He was into some hard stuff and did it a little too hard that time, I guess. But he's still in the last _Hunger Games_ movie. He was a really good, likable actor who died so unnecessarily.
He didn't get to shoot some scenes though, there's an obvious one at the end that makes me so sad because it's my favorite dialogue from Plutarch in the book

10:26 People in the districts didn’t have pet dogs. They couldn’t afford to feed them. That dog was likely feral, descended from pets from before there were districts who then survived out in the wild afterwards.
Prim had a goat, because goats can eat the grass so they’re easier to feed, and they provide milk. Prim’s cat could survive off of hunting things like mice and birds.

If you read the books, you can see why Katniss is torn between the two of them. Gale has been there since day one and helped her family out a lot (Preventing their starvation after her dad died) while still providing for his own family. She is in a tough spot.
They both helped her family in different ways, which makes sense for their situations and it’s interesting. For Peeta he saved her life before she knew Gale, when they were 11. She was starving to death and gave up; and no one helped her. Peeta saw this and deliberately burnt that bread to risk a beating from his abusive mother to give it to her to feed her and her family, and that’s an act of kindness she could never forget or get over and she wanted to repay or thank him and didn’t know how. That stayed with her because it’s the only time someone helped her without expecting anything back, without her having to prove her usefulness to them. Which is why kindness affects her so badly, it’s a weakness that gets to her.
For Gale they both went through the same thing, Peeta’s actions gave her the strength and hope to start hunting and looking after herself, Gale is doing the same thing and they don’t trust each other at first. Gale threatens that stealing is punishable by death when she’s looking at his snares. It takes a while to warm up to each other, they begrudgingly show each other their gathering places and skills since it’s easier to work together to provide for their family’s and then that bond builds out of a mutual need for survival with themselves and their families. They have different skills that taught each other and it’s more transactional.
That isn’t hate to one or the other, it makes sense for both of their situations but I just think it’s very interesting

To answer your question Hannah: in the book, it‘s explained that the roses Snow wears are genetically modified to smell really strongly. This is to cover up Snow‘s extremely bad breath. He got that as a result of his favourite method of getting rid of rivals. He would invite them to a feast and serve them poisoned wine. To avoid suspicion he would drink it with them. He would, of course, have a medical team standing by to help him but he had done this so much that incurable and oainful sores developed in his mouth,

Love how Hannah is so much more expressive of Ash being a bad, bad boi. I swear she's a jewel Ash.
When Peeta is warning Katniss about the Capital coming to 13 to bomb it, the movie spares us from what really happens in MockingJay to Peeta in that moment, the feed does not cut out the camera is flipped and Peeta is out of frame, but he's getting beaten and Katniss and everyone can hear him screaming for (i don't remember how minutes it was) and the blood that gets on the lense of the camera before it cuts out.

I dont know if you guys have seen the film Twister. But it's a great film with Philip Seymour Hoffman as a fun supporting character. RIP Phillip and Bill Paxton.

Hannah they didn’t do Part 2 without him. He finished most of his movies before he passed. One scene he was suppose to do was done by Woody Harrison.

I've watched this series so many times, but seeing (and living vicariously through) Ash and Hannah experiencing it for the first time, I got just as emotional as the first time and I wish I could give Hannah a hug, from one cryer to another.

I'm not sure that's accurate. Philip died a week before all filming ended, which means they would've been shooting the end of MJ Part 2. I don't think they would have been shooting this scene that late. I know Plutarch had the drawings in the actual MJ book, but I believe the rewrite of them coming from Effie was more to increase her role and not bc of PSH's death. I could be wrong, though, so if you have a source, I'd be happy to read it.

@@ribbitgrl They shoot based on locations mostly. For example the scene of Beetee showing Katniss the special arrows was filmed late even though it's a "Part 1" scene
Not to be disrespectful, but since Effie and Cinna had been on her team since the start, I liked her giving it to Katniss better. I liked Effie having more of a presence.
It’s funny how ash and Hannah switch roles for reactions. Ash reacts based on emotion and Hannah thinks logically but during the non reaction segments they’re the opposite

To be fair katniss is not in a relationship with either Peeta or Gale and both of them have always known she’s kissed the other and haven’t complained. Hannah is right that there is no time to choose who she wants to date at this moment
Actually she was in a secret relationship with Gale while publicly pretending to be in a relationship with Peeta for the sole purpose of self preservation.
@@ladyjallday5450 actually in the books she wasn’t. They never made it official, she would kiss him but that’s it. She always put off deciding because there were bigger things at stake.
