And 7 years of updates versus the three that are left on my current phone is compelling to trade. Also, another thing I can now take into consideration after having the experience was that I broke a screen on this phone. If the S pen isn't a must then the 24U is overpriced. That's basically it lol. Camera is all subjective. Most phones camera is more than good enough for everyone. Other wise, get a professional camera. No phone can beat that.
I'd swap the SPen (that I NEVER use) for the IR blaster and bigger battery in a second. For some odd reason I can get the S24U in Australia, after all the magic cupons for a lot less than the One Plus. I even considered the x100 pro, but it turned out to be, at its cheapest, A$100 more than the S24U.
Unfortunately it will not be the same at all, Samsung's strength is to perfectly integrate its OS and not to have a third-party application which will not provide the same ergonomics.
Lol there are still apps for that but they all suck in quality! Samsung's quality is really good.. nothing on Android or iOS at least that can compare with it
I've been very happy with previous Oneplus smartphones purchases. The company is not greedy like the other competitors. Their phones are not only durable and well made but also very affordable. I am still holding on my One plus 7 pro, even thou its battery is already slowing down. This is the phone I will be replacing it with sometime this year; even thou I only paid $550 for my 7 pro on a promotion special in 2019. I am waiting and hoping for the Oneplus 12 to lowered its current price of $799 on a promotion special later this year!? even thou it seems fairly priced and very competitive for the $799 price. If my current phone dies, this is going to be its replacement!!
Really impressive review of this flagship smartphone.I didn't know about this phone coming out this month, but it does seem like a significant upgrade over last year's One Plus 11, considering this phone has a better display, better battery life, and a much better camera system than the one from last year. And it even trades blows with the Samsung Galaxy S24 ultra for the most part in the camera department.Very interesting.
But actually you can long press the home button and it will let you search for anything just like the circle to search. Like you said it's a Google feature and it's implemented.
On paper, this should always be compared to the highest tier phones such as the S24 Ultra or iPhone 15 Pro Max. To have the same tech (RAM, Resolution, Processor) or better (battery/charging) and to be a cheaper price screams value all around. As a former Samsung owner, the S pen is not enough to separate the Ultra phone into a class of its own. Furthermore, many if not all of those AI features are going to roll out to the other Samsung phones and exist in some fashion for other Android phones. Also, Pixel owners will get many of these features by default anyway. The only knock I see is that the phone is IP65 rated instead of 68

I don't understand why this phone ranks so low in Geekbench 6 at 10:40 - It confuses me about Snapdragon 800 Gen 3 performance - And many "Tech News Outlets" don't even understand there's a "Galaxy Version" of the SoC as well.. But if this gets 941 / 4738 while S24 Ultra gets 2,200 / 6.8 - 7.2k - Then that's a big difference, and something that's impacting my main reason if I should steer clear - We don't know if this will be patched.. (I was hoping on getting this phone and just use 3rd party AI Software - Plus I miss the IR Sensors so much!! And +4 extra Gigs of RAM, so what's up with that benchmark?).
funfact about the fingerprint sensor: when i calibrated my finger i assume i used too much pressure so after a while my phone didnt recognize my fingerprint anymore, luckily i remembered the unlock code. i then did a new calibration with the same pressure i would use when i would unlock my phone and up til now i didnt have this problem anymore.
I’m actually glad OnePlus isn’t going down the AI route. It’s gimmicky and irritating to me honestly. That’s the one thing that Google makes both better and worse for everyone in my opinion. The OnePlus 12 looks like a fantastic device to me.
Same. I have the regular S23 and it's the only size that works. I wish companies can make smaller versions along with there main flagships. Also trying to fit a 6.82 in your pocket doing day to day activities.
greetings and nice review.... As always through European taxes the prices go through the roof. if the base price in the USA is 800 dollars, and with the trade at 700 dollars, in my state the minimum price is 1000 euros ... which brings OnePlus to a price that becomes 50% more than other markets
I am currently on my 4th consecutive Samsung and had enough of the Camera side of things! They just tend to overexpose and oversaturate the colours and that is why I am looking for a different Brand I tend to like the Samples of Google and Sony Phones and since this one has a Sony Lenses I think it is a Great Proposition.
Bought my ultra for 1160 after tax, 1000% worth the 230$ difference. I'd give that for the design/feel alone, throw in the screen glare blocker, spen, and AI and it's no contest.
The price starting at 1000 Euros in the EU is such bs, why can't we get it at the same aggressive pricing than in the US? The s24U and OP12 are priced almost the same where I'm at
Hi Ben, big admirer of your reviews. What is your take on OnePlus 12 vs. iQOO 12? The 12/256 versions of both in India are about 150$ apart. Would love your take on this comparo.
Its worth mentioning the camera setup is almost identical to the OnePlus Open, that took #4 in MKBHDs Blind Camera Test. The top 3 were all Pixels so OnePlus made a generational leap since the OnePlus 11.
It's because OnePlus Open has the TRUE LYTIA pixel stacked sensor lyt-t808 where OnePlus 12 has a NONE pixel stacked lyt-808 which was a revised version of the imx789 used in the OnePlus 9 series
Well done mate. Good review. I like oneplus 12. I did order the S24 ultra though. But because i had lots of discount (512gb same price as 256gb version as pre order promo. 12% discount because I'm samsung member. So I could buy a S24 ultra 512 with a 450 euro discount). Otherwise maybe i would have picked the oneplus this time. And i'm a big fan of the S-spen (especially because you can use it for taking pictures on a distance)
I've preordered my OnePlus 12 here in the UK, upgrading from my OnePlus 7 Pro, it's been a fantastic phone but I recently broke the screen and it's time for a replacement! It retails at £899 on the OnePlus store but because I was one of the first 1000 to preorder I've got a free Bang and Olufsen headset that's worth £449 coming with the phone! I'm over the moon, even without the free headset I wouldn't be paying the extra for the s24 ultra it's personally just not worth it for me but Im not knocking it either, I like the design and it's features but I'm after the best value for money and my OnePlus 7 Pro has proved that for me tenfold over the years.
As always a great review. At the price for anyone not wanting A China varient phone oneplus offers great value for money. AI and enabling it could well be a lot worse than having spyware on your phone with a few years worth of data stored about every aspect of your life. I am sure insurance companies are dying to get hold of the data to triple your premiums.
You cant beat oneplus phones fir the money you get a powerful phone im getting op12 16 gb and 512 for 800 is unbelievable I think if more people tried the OnePlus phones they definitely would switch over to them The battery life is unbelievable and the fact that it charges in 22 minutes is even better once you go fast charge it's hard to go back to any other phone
As an ex 8T user, the specs of this phone are very attractive. Sadly I take alot of photos and I think they are still behind in terms of photos. It really just needs google's post processing and I'll definitely buy it
Oneplus 12 lyt-808 sensor is NOT the same as the lyt-T808 sensor as in the OnePlus Open. It's missing the "T" which means it's NOT the sony lytia pixel stacked sensor. The ONLY pixel stacked sensor was the one with the "T", which was the lyt -T808 in the OnePlus Open/Oppo Find N3. The lyt-808 used in OnePlus 12 was actually the revised version of the IMX789 used in OnePlus 9 series, which was NOT pixel stacked. Idk if openplus got tricked by Sony or Sony wanted to trick everyone coz the pixel stacked sensor for smartphone was the lyt-T808 ONLY which was NOT used in the OnePlus 12. Same thing with the 1" sensor lyt-900 in the Oppo Find 7 or the upcoming xiaomi 14 ultra and vivo x100 ultra. It's a REVISED version of the imx989 and it's NOT pixel stacked. Started last year, Sony RENAMED some of it's IMX sensor to the "NEW' LYTIA lineup, like the IMX789 to LYT-808 and IMX989 to LTY-900 for idk what reasons but both of were missing the "T" in front of the number and both of them were NOT pixel stacked
great video, thanks. I was looking for best camera phone. Unfortunately, best cameras are on chinese phones not really working fluid in Europe. Than was trying to like the s24 Ultra as still good camera phone, but this is really huge device. Was motivated to like it, but no way. You need huge palm to feel comfortable with the size of this device. Oneplus is the one I have now. This is the most fair device for the money, but Vivo x100 and most of it Oppo find x7 ultra are seriously outperforming the OP12 cameras. Biggest problem with OP12 is night video stabilization, it is like none in comparison. Good luck everybody ❤
Super fast charging that kills your battery fast. Have a xiaomi 11t pro with 120 watt charging that has a battery thats down to 40% cuz of it, while my Poco F3 that only has 33 watt still has high in the 80s, both with similar usage,.

Better value, and better looking than the S24+, and especially better looking than the S24 Ultra, mainly from the front.
muy bien One Plus, ya el año pasado el 11 fue un buen teléfono, éste 12 muy completo!!! Genial tu contenido, Ben.
funfact about the fingerprint sensor: when i calibrated my finger i assume i used too much pressure so after a while my phone didnt recognize my fingerprint anymore, luckily i remembered the unlock code. i then did a new calibration with the same pressure i would use when i would unlock my phone and up til now i didnt have this problem anymore.
I’m actually glad OnePlus isn’t going down the AI route. It’s gimmicky and irritating to me honestly. That’s the one thing that Google makes both better and worse for everyone in my opinion. The OnePlus 12 looks like a fantastic device to me.
I don't trust AI. It's bad enough with the amount of information apps and phone companies are collecting from customers.
It's soooo big though. That is my only hang up on OnePlus. I have little hands and the size of the regular S24 is really perfect.
Same. I have the regular S23 and it's the only size that works. I wish companies can make smaller versions along with there main flagships. Also trying to fit a 6.82 in your pocket doing day to day activities.
Was looking forward to this. Thanks for the review!
Thanks for the Review. Waitin for the Nubia Z60 Ultra Review.
greetings and nice review.... As always through European taxes the prices go through the roof. if the base price in the USA is 800 dollars, and with the trade at 700 dollars, in my state the minimum price is 1000 euros ... which brings OnePlus to a price that becomes 50% more than other markets
Did they fix the gap by camera that was reported to be glued on and coming off for some Chinese models ?
I always love your review Ben.. Bold and clear..
I am currently on my 4th consecutive Samsung and had enough of the Camera side of things!
They just tend to overexpose and oversaturate the colours and that is why I am looking for a different Brand
I tend to like the Samples of Google and Sony Phones and since this one has a Sony Lenses I think it is a Great Proposition.
Does this One Plus 12 have fixed their "whitening face" issue they had with the 11 ?
More like better value and also a better phone than yhe S24 Ultra as well, period.
i get Samsung not because of value but for One ui , better&longer OS updates and i know where to go when something with phone goes south
Oxygen OS is so much faster and without the bloatware. It is a pleasure to use everyday.
Oxygen OS 10 was... the newer roms nothing special but ok. @@machtschnell7452
The s24U and OP12 are priced almost the same where I'm at
Can i use with any service
Awesome review yet again Ben
05 july 2024 .oneplus 12 now already have the ai eraser which super cool to use basically just same like oppo find x7 ultra
We need comparison video between OP12, S24+(SD) and S24+(tensor)
@@blackysan hmmm. PhoneArena claims it's better than the Opens sensor.
@@blackysan They are sister sensors. You need to read more and stop doing false claims
The OnePlus 12 camera Ring, is it metal with the glass as an insert? Meaning if metal would protect the big round glass on top of lenses like 11?
Well done mate. Good review. I like oneplus 12. I did order the S24 ultra though. But because i had lots of discount (512gb same price as 256gb version as pre order promo. 12% discount because I'm samsung member. So I could buy a S24 ultra 512 with a 450 euro discount). Otherwise maybe i would have picked the oneplus this time. And i'm a big fan of the S-spen (especially because you can use it for taking pictures on a distance)
Anyone can get 12 percent discount for being a samsung member?
@asianstud7 I think it was a pre order promo for all samsung members. They sended me a code by email.
Yeah oneplus has alot going for it always did but samsung being more bigger and one u.i being so improved is just a better deal
Choosing between this or the Xiaomi 14 Pro. Which do you think would be a better pick?
Please do a camera test with the S24 Ultra
ALREADY a new Oneplus phone...
damn time goes EXTREMELY FAST now !
Oneplus fucked up the pricing for europe 969€ , better to import and flash the global rom
Terrific review. Thanks much Ben.
Oneplus is Chinese
You cant beat oneplus phones fir the money you get a powerful phone im getting op12 16 gb and 512 for 800 is unbelievable I think if more people tried the OnePlus phones they definitely would switch over to them The battery life is unbelievable and the fact that it charges in 22 minutes is even better once you go fast charge it's hard to go back to any other phone
Wait, colorOS includes Google Lens, you can search based on your screen, just bring the side menu abd hit teanslate, it will bring Google Lens
apart from price variations, what is the difference between buying oneplus 12 in india and uk ?
As an ex 8T user, the specs of this phone are very attractive. Sadly I take alot of photos and I think they are still behind in terms of photos. It really just needs google's post processing and I'll definitely buy it
Just when i thought one plus fell off. I have the 10 pro, and wanted something different. Should I upgrade?
I think the comparison would've been better if you had the S24+ side by side
Best review of the oneplus 12 out there!! Great video
Rubbish, Ben said it was.
For you, which is better, the OnePlus 12 or the oppo find x7 ultra?
great video, thanks.
Look at that qhd and super fast charging in that price 😍
Super fast charging that kills your battery fast. Have a xiaomi 11t pro with 120 watt charging that has a battery thats down to 40% cuz of it, while my Poco F3 that only has 33 watt still has high in the 80s, both with similar usage,.
If all the best, first of all they install authorization for phone recording devices by country, then we will talk about the cameras and more.
