Exactly, and there are some people in the US who would like to keep it going. They can not accept the fact that many have grown past racism and are getting along wonderfully. They want to make us believe that the work of such heroes/heroines as Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks meant nothing at all. I lived during their time and saw what it was like then. I am not saying that there are no racist persons today. I am sure that there are plenty, but not in my 50/50 circle.

I think it is wrong to generalize all people of one race as alike, knowing or not knowing the same things. I am half Italian and half Irish, so I am categorized as white. Here's an interesting bit: I have had Black people tell me that Italians are not white. This is not true; I do not know where they got that idea. Anyway, I have three children and a grandchild. All are adults. My first born in 1972, had a Chinese father. She married a Black man and they had a son together. My second child born in 1980, has a Black father. She decided not to have children. She works with young children every day. My third child, a son born 1985, had a
Puerto Rican father. He has blue eyes from a recessive gene. I knew nothing of recessive genes until he was born. A recessive gene can occur when a child has a grandparent on EACH side (cannot be two grandparents on one side) so my Irish mother had blue eyes; his dad's father was a blue eyed Puerto Rican. So a blue eyed grandparent on each side; my son inherited a recessive gene for blue eyes. A lot of folks do not know that Puerto Ricans can have blue eyes. Anyway, having Black people in my immediate family, I am pretty familiar with Black people. I also lived with my kids in a 99% Black neighborhood for 16 yrs. During that time the area became integrated with white people who had a bit more money to invest into the area (also known as gentrified) which was two sides of the coin, loss of families and low income people, along with improvements to infastructure, bigger tax base to pay for improvements (schools, play grounds, street lights, new businesses to create jobs, ect.) so I had Black friends, dated Black men (I was a single mother) and I've always liked Black people anyway and always had Black friends, before moving to that neighborhood. And no, none of my children are adopted; I gave birth to all of them at home with Midwives. I added that bit because I had people ask me if they were adopted! If my kids were white, they would have never asked. One more thing: My son has Black 10% Spanish not sure the percentage, Taino (the tribe in Puerto Rico before the Spanish invasion and colonization, which included the import of Black African slaves) Most of his genetics on his father's side is likely Taino. So my point is I'm not a "typical" white person (if there is such a thing) so please do not generalize.

@@hooleyqueenWhile I appreciate your family tree and your statement about how it is wrong to generalize, you are missing so much of the point. Congratulations on your ecclectic racial experience, however, you are an anomooooly in your familial make up, therefore have a different experience. It is safe to say that the points Amy made to ring true for the general population of White and Black individuals in America. In a talk such as the one Amy provided, she cannot address everyone's unique situation and to focus on the piece you address here is to miss the important educational points Amy was trying to make. I would suffice to say had you listened with learning ears you may not have made some of the statements you made here. One of the very first rules of thumb in interacting with Black people is not to talk about all the ways you know what it is to be Black or the experience of Black people. This statement DOES translate over. This tells me she as probably only experienced "city life" mostly in her life. If you go to a smaller town one thing people with notice if they are from a larger town/city is how many people simply wave at you or give you a head nod that means exactly the same as she described.
She talks about "culture" as being owned by different ethnic groups but "people" living in different areas have different "cultures". The biggest "well known" culture divide amongst people of the same race in the US is Northern and Southern "culture". A white person living in New York City lives in and has a complete different "culture" and abides by completely different "social rules" than a white person living in a smaller more rural town.

This is where the "Church" teaches God cut man's lifespan down from 1k years to 100 years..... My spirit will not (struggle) with man forever... for HE TO IS ALSO FLESH....
God knows man is flesh, the ANGELS know man is flesh... MAN knows man is flesh.... that was essentially a GIVEN and EVERYONE knew man was flesh.... for he to is ALSO flesh...
This line reminds me of a FATHER talking to his kids when he gets close to the end... He was nearing the end of his life. We were made in THEIR image after THEIR OWN likeness....
ALSO.... The SONS of GOD fell in LOVE with the daughters of man and took them for WIVES and had SEX with them and produced CHILDREN with them.... not only are they FLESH... but they are BIOLOGICALLY compatable with "us".... We were created in THEIR image afterall!
God said BLOOD is life and commanded us not to consume the blood from animals we eat. Only BLOOD of innocence can cleanse our sins... For a GOD who is not FLESH, he sure does put a LOT of importance on BLOOD.... and the ULTIMATE sacrifice was the BLOOD of his SON...
So... if GOD grew old and died... how is he the Alpha and Omega... ruling FOREVER?
God is NOT the only of his kind... there are others like him... Does that make him one GOD among GODS? NO!!!!! he was GOD... and lets make this simpler to comprehend... Replace "GOD" with "KING"! What makes a KING a KING? What is the DIFFERENCE between a KING and the person plowing the fields? NOTHING... they are both the same.... but the ONE difference that makes a KING the KING is the BLOOD in his veins. And through the BLOOD the kings son becomes the king when the king dies.
The BLOODLINE makes a king a king.... and such through the BLOOD GOD reigns forever.
GOD or the "KING" even had a revolt by his own MILITARY... that tried to EJECT the KING from his THRONE and take it... And this one convinced 1/3 to rally behind him.
We humans copied this system of rule from THEM... the KING is ordained by GOD... some pharoes even claimed to be GODS.... We humans copied this system of rule from them... pretty much from the beginning.

a black child has to know to survive about our society in general in the US. That conversation was never taught to us or was even thought of growing up as a white child. I notice that it’s slowly changing in our community but racism is still strong especially with the older generations who grew up being taught (even subtly or unaware) to be racist. It really opened my eyes that we need to change in order to survive and thrive and truly love one another. We need to look into each other’s eyes more often and see the person inside their skin. I would like to add that when my white son was 12 years old he was running home at around 8:00 pm because he was late getting home and was stopped by the cops and sat in the back of the police car, they took his shoes, and kept him for about an hour and then released him. He told them he was running home but they did their investigation anyway. He cooperated and all was fine in the end. We must teach our children to cooperate with the police, whatever color. BTW there had been a robbery in the neighborhood he was running through.) I did not fault the police. Please listen to Larry Elder (a black man) who proves that all the victimhood of black people is not racism. Listen to Thomas Sowell (a black man) who also proves it! Don't buy into this racism. We all have to pretend to like people around us regardless of skin color. I found the comment about white people needing to love other white people regardless of how terrible white people really are, appalling . You are entitled to sell your home to whom ever you want and you don’t have to feel guilty because your parents left you an inheritance. As far as time is concerned , on time is on time and your own fluid interpretation does not dictate the reality of time. Hotels don’t have to get special shampoo for Black hair, neither do they have to get shampoo for oily hair or dyed hair or thin hair. The rest of the world is not responsible for internalizing the dynamics of your family or your community. It’s your responsibility to learn our common culture, and yes our common culture is heavily influenced by European Judeo-Christian Western values because the USA is and has always been a white majority. We don’t need to apologize for this reality. It’s dismissive and condescending to say white students in advanced classes are not really more intelligent or gifted. It may be that these classes should contain more Black and Brown students but this doesn’t mean we need to diminish the achievements of white students. If your kid’s friends were drinking, the probability of him drinking as well is rather high. Furthermore, police officers showing interest in your child is not a negative thing, unless that’s the spin you want to put on it. You didn’t say anything that substantiated the idea that the police were harassing your son. Oh and I’m not white.

It's for this same reason that I don't get "more excited about Jesus". I'd honestly like to know why you believe that the books in the Bible are accurate accounts of actual events. Because the Bible says it's true?
If you know your Bible then you know 1st Peter 3:15..." Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have"
So what's your reason as an intelligent, reasonable and logical adult who has had the benefit of at least 12 years of primary education? Faith? What good is faith? Faith is belief in the absence of evidence. If someone asked you to prove something and you had irrefutable evidence, you'd merely present the evidence and be done with it, you wouldn't need faith at all. I tried to listen to this, but right off of the bat I was turned off- everything that this woman says is actually (WITHOUT HER EVEN KNOWING IT) divisive and stereotypical... When she THINKS that she is speaking against such things. I do not agree with there being white or black names, a name is a name... and phrases such as "do you know my people"? When I say "my people", I am referring to HUMANS. I consider all people as individuals and judge only based on my personal compatibility or chemistry with that person, their skin tone is inconsequential. I hate when anyone of ANY color says things like MY PEOPLE. If you say "your people" are only people of a specific color, you are automatically separating yourself from other people. ALL people are my people. Even if I don't like you, you have a right to exist and I will defend you even by laying down my life to protect you. But, if I don't like you, you can take it to the bank that it has absolutely NOTHING to do with the tone of your fucking skin, as that is absolutely infantile. There should be NO RACIAL LINES, because in reality there are no racial lines, we are ALL of the human race. We have been pre-programmed to draw these imaginary lines. All of the problems that she discusses here, are BECAUSE OF THESE IMAGINARY LINES!!!! Until everyone learns to stop thinking in these terms, these racial divides will exist. The only way to stop that is to stop separating ourselves. I do not look at any man or any woman as a white or black person, JUST a PERSON. I grew up in a diverse area, and was never taught to separate. I thank God that I don't have to be burdened with such nonsense. The thought of a persons color never enters my mind until people like her PUT IT THERE. Stop separating ourselves and all of this nonsensical racism goes away.

I never did a wrong thing to anyone in my life based on the color of their skin, and if I saw someone being discriminated against, or even thought that that might be happening, I was the first to stand up and do something about it. If she believes that politicians are going to fix race relations, she is sadly mistaken... they fuel the hate, even if unintentionally... when you go around telling an entire group of people that they need to apologize for something, all that is going to do is piss off the ones responsible for the hate in the first place causing them to retaliate further, and alienate others, to appease one group of people... when we shouldn't be thinking in terms of "groups" in the first place. If everyone stopped drawing these imaginary lines and grouping ourselves, the old generation of haters will die off and the new mindset becomes the norm. One race... the HUMAN race.

Definitely agree that any church must teach us to love one another, looks and color and hairstyle and clothing choices aside. That being said, there's no need to condescend. It is all of our responsibility to teach each other to love when we have the opportunity, skin color be darned. It's not as if white people can't love and are expecting black people to bring in their expertise. Far more white people love others including black people than black people realize. Sometimes we can get so ingrained in family stories that include terrible experiences of the past that we don't look up and accept the love that is already there. Are some white people guilty of hatred and selfishness? Of course. As are some black people. We are all sinners in some way or another. So singling out white people as a "them" that don't know how to love when it may be the perpetuation of racist stereotypes about white people that is the wall between you doesn't make sense. It makes me sad to hear black folks say they expect others not to like them. But it's not because people don't inherently like them. Expect to be liked, and it changes one's confidence. We can't live in fear. Sure, there may be someone who doesn't like us, and not for a good reason. That is our universal experience, color aside. But most people will!!

    • @reservist7
      @reservist7 3 года назад

@@jlheathfam2 I appreciate your intervention and I have seen a lot of interesting points. I like the intro and I thank you for thinking like that. Yet again what saddened me especially among Caucasian Christians is everything that comes from when you mention condescending. Why does it always, i mean always why does it have to be a justification? Why can't you just acknowledge what she is saying, trying to see from her perspective (which apparently seems very hard ) and ask so how can we work things out how can we, where do we go from there to make things better for both parties. And this is something you rarely hear from the Caucasian side. Always trying to justify or challenge what the black are saying about their experiences I mean why not just listen and work together to improve things? She is not being condescending she says what she is going through. I mean were the caucasians victims of slavery? No. Are they been denying jobs because of their names? No. Are the young caucasians males being shot by the police at the same rate than the black? No. So if the black community want to tell you what they are going through I mean why do you have to keep questioning that? That is what makes reconciliation difficult . the ego and the lack of "let me just shush and listen because my brother seems hurt" kind of mentality. Its just a sad situation.

I'm an Afro-Caribbean male born in the UK and raised in Jamaica, It still surprises me that talks like this gets responses like I've seen, both positive and negative. I've come to realize a few things over the years:-(1) no one with absolute power relinquishes it willingly or helps people deemed lower than themselves without having a hidden agenda so I say to people of colour, stop looking for reparation, 40 acres and a mule etc. It's not going to happen. (2) We need to educate our children but focus on Economics and Politics, 2 of the most influencial aspects of Western society. When we concentrate on these things, we'll learn to work for and by ourselves and stop having expectations of other people including our own. Politics is important to learn to govern ourselves and to negotiate with other nations. Let's face it, Japan was down after the 2nd World War but are not anymore. Yes, we may have been down for longer but we need to broaden our horizon and look to Africa. With a good business plan, you can build a Blue Chip Company in Africa in FIVE YEARS! Go to Africa on a vacation and see for yourself how much development is going on there, not just by the Chinese but various projects all over Africa. It is not stricken with poverty like the media will tell you. I am a strong believer in the thinking that injustice, racism, victimization of any sort are clear indications of you not being wanted around so why stay? To fight for equal rights and justice only to be told you should grateful to be around them in THEIR COUNTRY, a land they stole and a people they victimized and killed then enslaved YOUR ANCESTORS? Stop being like a dog sitting by your slavemaster's table begging for scraps. The people today may not be the slavemasters of yesteryear but they and their have benefitted from slavery indirectly through the advent of the Industrial Revolution financed by slave money to what it is today. The society is built on the psychology of exploitation so to fight it is futile, everyone who has buck the system are targeted and humiliated then destroyed and what they have fought for destroyed by the powers that be :- they give you with one hand then take it back with the next. So, just work towards a better you by loving yourself, believing in yourself and strive to know yourself....not what people tell you, knowing your true self is knowing God/Allah/Jah/Eloh/, whatever you call the Divine Source of all that is because that is your essence. Your greater than what you have been told, good or bad, you are greater that so return home like the prodigal son and remember your greatness!

Another salty attitude towards whites... Please go find your rainbow somewhere else if you hate America and white people so much. Nobody needs that negative sh*t, life is already hard, then you get a$$holes trying to heap a load of misplaced guilt trips on regular white people who just want to mind their own business and be left the f*ck alone. Sorry you hate whites so much, but that's your problem to find a way through. I'm not taking blame for the slavery and racism of other folks, forget about it... I'm accountable for myself only! Try that on for size, it fits nicely.

I love how this lady tells other people how they think..Wow, she's a mind reader. She's in a "church" and she doesn't preach Jesus, instead She points out what she thinks is wrong with white people. What kind of church is this! Oh,no wonder...It's California!

So what would your sermon have been sir? I really think you should watch it again I don’t think she’s telling them what to think at all. So again what would your sermon be on race and inequality in America and what have you done in your community and or surrounding communities bridge people together? I patiently and eagerly await your response if you actually care about God and his children. Thank you sir.
