The magic of recovery is one alcoholic sharing with another alcoholic the Experience, strengths and hopes. It was important in my experience to surround myself with folks who had the same problems I was experiencing. I saw that they had something I wanted. Once I got sober everything from my music to my family got better and the creativity just seems to be there. It's a good life when you can remember what the hell you did the previous day💜✌️🌻
Great story and it tells exactly how it works to get sober. I met SRV at a show he played in Hilton Head Island SC in, I think 1983? Maybe 84? My buddy ran a club in another town and we were able to hang backstage. Stevie Ray was a wreck at that time on alcohol and cocaine. He even made the comment just casually that, “I gotta quit, this shits killing me”. He got sober way before me. If you notice the ring he wore and is on his hand on his statue, it bears the AA triangle (recovery, unity, service).
Rosie and I live a few miles away from Alpine Valley Ski resort where Stevie Ray flew out of on that fateful night. We bought a couple acres at another Ski hill called Paradise Valley. I don't even try any of Vaughan's stuff but I always do Red Neck Mother at a local Brew Pub. Thanks for another great session Otis. Burlington Bill singer songwriter busking from the road and home!
Man, your interviews are priceless ! They take me to places & times of days gone by, as well as thinking of great times I’ve enjoyed following the various artists. I saw many of these guys in small venues, before they made it to bigger audiences. Thanks for capturing & sharing these gems !

OTIS, by putting these artist stories together you have put together a history of time of outlaw country and true Americana music and how many folks played this type sound . These artist have always touch my heart , because it is the real deal , with true life imperfections. Like the rest of us .

Sounds like Willie talking.
Don Boman’s version of Wildwood Weed is the best, and the first. 😊
That guy was funny !!!!!!!
Don Bowman was indeed funnier than hell! He wrote songs that were hilarious as well.
