A lot of times with prenups there is a legal requirement of a waiting period from when a person gets a prenup to when they can “accept” it. Has nothing to do with a person “having time to read it”.

Georgia law doesn't work like that. It's not cut and dry and there are 3 reasons in Georgia that a Judge will invalidate a prenup and not allowing sufficient time to review with an attorney and be advised on it is one of them. 1.) Give plenty of time before the wedding to sign the prenuptial- no later than 30 days before the wedding. To make it even better, no later than 60- 90 days before the wedding. Confirm a strict deadline, and if it's not signed, then no wedding.
2.) Give enough time to go over the contract with a hired lawyer of their choosing. Give at least 30- 60 days for them to read over and comprehend the prenuptial before the deadline.
3.) The prenuptial should be signed with both parties and their lawyers present. If anything needs to be added to or omitted from the contract, then it should be done by the lawyers with both parties present at the time of the edit.
4.) DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES LET YOUR SOON TO BE SPOUSE SIGN UNDER DURESS. If they are too stressed, tired, overwhelmed, dealing with grief, etc., then the deadline for the prenuptial should be postponed to a later date. If your wedding is approaching but the prenuptial deadline has been postponed, then your wedding will have to be postponed to at least 30 days after the new deadline for the prenuptial.
5.) If you want to go the extra mile, have your spouse sign an agreement that they are in their sound mind, have read and comprehended the contract, and they are not under any kind of duress on the day of the signing.
6.) Make sure to have each segment of the prenuptial FAIR AND INCLUSIVE of the other party. If not, then find out the hard way and get your prenuptial thrown out in court.

As adults, no one plays games when it comes to money. I also recall an episode on the Real when Jeannie said a family does not need a lot of money to live well. That’s not true. Prenups can be invalidated if signed under duress. Signing 5 days prior could suggest that you tried to sneak a prenup in at the last minute when a person is probably incredibly busy in hopes they won’t fully read and understand all the terms. While at the same time feeling pressured to sign because everything is paid for and everyone is expecting a wedding. That’s why they tell you to do it months prior.

B. Therefore, you can either take the initiative yourself, or you can opt for a stranger (laws in your place of residence) to take it for you.

3. "Who hurt you?"
4. "Why are you already expecting us to divorce?"
5. "Do you really think I care about your money?"
These are shaming tactics; do not let these rebuttals alter your decision.
