I’ve become a Chester Morris fan- these films are such great entertainment! No phony special effects or gratuitous violence needed - but there was plenty of action and there were interesting plots. I can’t wait to watch the next one. I can imagine his fans must have looked forward to every next film he made !

Chester was one of the first stars of the talkies and was incredibly popular. His only Oscar nomination was for Alibi. He sadly died from cancer in 1970 after completing The Great White Hope.

Chester Morris had charm and comedic timing. He reminded me of Robin Williams when he was pretending he was commenting a boxing game!

Anne Emms....I agree. I am always amazed when I see little children able to say their lines and act the part convincingly. I looked her up on IMDb but there was nothing there but a few movies that she was in. We can only wonder what kind of life she had and if she is still alive.

Why Chester was never an A-List actor is crazy.
He was 10 times better than most every other at the time.

Wrong aspect ratio makes the images flat and people fat. The original ratio is 1.37:1, NOT 1.85:1. Please correct.

For some reason, Chester Morris movies seem kinda smart & modern. That scene near the start where the Morris character is standing on the van with the fire scene behind him has a modern look to it. His acting is also breezy but clearly spoken. Like other commenters, I look for movies with him in it. He can also play an effective villain.

This is one cliffhanger that matters! When is the last time you ever heard of a news reporter who put everything on the line to rectify a terrible wrong for which he/she was responsible? That would be some kind of news indeed!!@
