      Darkhero, you can use the wirebug reload to reposition between compressed discharges, you can also get off a 3 hit combo before using it and still have it protected. Im a beyblade switch axe user.

    one thing ive seen some people not doing is morphing after soaring wyvern. pressing R2 after soaring wyvern does a quick morph attack and skips the pull back sword animation, so there's less recovery, and you can move with it

      You can also attack immediately in sword mode after it. Personally what I use depends on how much gauge I have, my positioning and the monster's positioning or attacks.

      @@matthieumartelct well switch axe is a good weapon for that at least lol. just messing around in training mode will teach u a lot, and switch axe is fun to do that with. been forever since I played not sure how different switch axe is now but try to use sword mode for offense and axe mode for mobility. sword mode is very strong and landing enough hits will amp the weapon and make it even stronger. the regular sword attacks are strong (X on switch triangle on PS) and the element discharge (x+a or triangle+circle and mash x or triangle) is super strong, if you can safely land a discharge and have the gauge then go for it, and you can use the soaring wyvern silkbind attack after (and then press the morph button like I talk about in my 1st comment). silkbind attacks in general are super strong and you should spam them, but especially on switch axe. soaring wyvern and whatever the axe attack is that makes you resist knockdown are both super good

    One niche of the wirestep silkbind is that it activates bladescale hone. Theoretically, you can forego protective polish and maybe even speed sharpening for maybe just one point of bladescale hone.

    Great video! A few things like spamming ZR to recover gauge quickly was something I never realised! Something you may have missed, after invcincible gambit if you hold back and press attack, you do a final spin that hits around 2/3 times for massive damage, finished by a back attack to reposition back to where you are to do it again (I cannot remember which attack buttons they were)

    Compressed Discharge was essentially made irrelevant by Elemental Burst Counter. The whole reason for using Compressed Discharge in base game was because power phials took a year and a half to get into amped state and Compressed Discharge didn't need amped state to be effective. But now even power phials can get amped right away with the counter so Compressed Discharge is only useful for wanting to do something different once in a while.

    I personally really like Invincible Gambit cuz of a combination of how much it moves me, the hyper armor, and how easy to makes wyvern riding. I usually spam it during small openings where I can't commit to a full ground combo. Its really good for getting hits in during roars if I don't have time to prep the counter for whatever reason

    Been a fan of Switch Axe since MH3, After realizing that a lot of the maps for Rise were taken from that game, I just had to pick it back up. But when I did so as a kid I really didn't know what I was doing.
    I came here looking for some advice and guidance on the use of this great weapon now that I finished the Sunbreak story. And I have to say that I'm very surprised to see that we coincide in a lot of points and impressions. I've been drawn towards using the same exact wirebug skills you recommend, separated in the two scrolls accordingly, and have agreed on mamy of your points.
    One thing I didn't realize is how guid Wirebug Wisperer can be with this weapon, so thanks for opening my eyes to that skill choice.
    Also, something I didn't notice you doing in those clips is pressing circle right after Soaring Wyvern. If you do that you'll skip the lag animation and chain into an attack immediately. The best part about it is that you can aim with your left joystick anywhere around your hunter and the attack will get directed in that direction, so even if you land behind, or next to a monster, you can immediately do the dou le slash into a fast thrust that will activate another discharge and second Soaring Wyvern. If you have enough gauge you can even do it a third time! Though, after that you will definitely have no more gauge left, so you'll be locked into the long fall animation. But you can also cancel out of that animation's ending lag by spam rolling as you hit the ground and chain that roll into a phial reload or any wirebug skill you can perform. It's specially useful with the one that charges your axe bar up since then you can immediately go for the monster again after the multiple Soaring Wyverns.

    In my opinion, Compressed Finishing Discharge would be more viable if it had a 3rd attack/hit.
    Say right after the the sword spin to cool down, you go into a final stance to unleash a larger explosion,
    making it a stationary, high commitment move with high damage payoff.

    • @darkhero2
      @darkhero2  2 года назад +5

      Yeah, it's a real shame in my opinion. It could be much stronger to compete with Finishing Discharge

    • @dragonitaslavedon1745
      @dragonitaslavedon1745 2 года назад +2

      Something I've noticed is that both hits of the Compressed Discharge seem to have a "explosion" attribute to them. I find it easier than normal to knock monsters down, break parts, and cancel their attacks when hitting them with it.
      Maybe the devs didn't make it as damaging because of that.
      For the record, I too think that the Finishing Discharge is much better overall, specially since it can chain into Soaring Wyvern, which technically makes it have 2 "explosion" damage sources too.

      A fun combo to use is to fade slash to evade or pull back for a moment and then come flying back into the fight with invincible gambit. Gambit is also great for powering through roars when you dont have the 2 wirebugs needed or the time to set up elemental burst counter.

    Dont know if anyone else has noticed this but since picking up the switch axe Ive noticed that there are times when I randomly reload for seemingly no reason. Regardless if amped and sword gauge is full and also if the sword gauge hasn't dipped below the line or gone purple. Also happens even if I dont use a counter, ZSD or soaring wyvern. Usually, this occurs during a morph combo or going into one from sheathe. Apparently, there is bug on both PC and Switch(Im on switch) to do with the frame rate(?) and when you execute a morph attack. Basically, if you time a morph attack on or between certain frames you will just reload for some odd reason even if you shouldn't need to. Its seems this has been an issue for some time as well, I thought I was doing something wrong, but maybe I still am idk.

    • @CobraDar23

      I notices this too, i think it happens when your sword gauge gets too low and your character auto reloads. But then, I've had it happen when I had a little bit of purple gauge left. So honestly, idk why the fuck your guy just decides to reload. I'm base ps5 atm, so i just recharge with the silkbind anytime I'm close to below the sword threshold on the guage to try to avoid that shit. There probably is a reason it happens, this my first MH game dude there are so many unexplained mechanics lmao

    Imo dadoras soul is better than the switch phail deco.
    This is because ur gauge fills fast already and the bonus crit you get is still less.
    Also with chain crit 1 and the soul and wex you have enough crit.
    Switcher is better if you have 15% crit already and hit the cap. But this is mainly for comfy stuff.
    But you should just use anti species then in that case. This is mainly a quality of life deco for more comfort. I found it nice to put it in fights where I'm not comfortable in.
    I like it how SA has multiple rampage decos depending on build and skill rather than just anti species or meme

      @@mr.voidroy6869 Look I don’t want to be that guy, but how else was I supposed to interpret “Also with Chain crit 1 and the soul and WEX you have enough crit”? The way that was written implied that chain crit was included in the affinity calculations, which didn’t make sense.

    I'm personally tired of these preemptive set up "counters". The only true counters in this game as far as I'm concerned are Metsu and anchor rage. I think LS has a sinkbind counter too that's not that sheath attack.
