Priceless means you can't put a number on it. The tomb of Tutankhamun housed 5400 artifacts including his layered priceless mummy, and to price his tomb at $1.2 million dollars is an insult.
The tomb of Tutankhamon is actually priceless, well over 10 billion dollars, the 1 million dollar estimate is way under.

Has it been considered the huge leverage Africa has by simply withholding commercial rapport with Europe until the items are returned? Or, at the very least, establish a firm contractual arrangement to be in effect, before further trade may continue., with regular shipments occurring during a specified time-frame. If, in the case of default. The trade having been re-established due to proper compliance with the arrangement, will be discontinued.
Please. Use the power you have to your benefit. There is no use asking a thief to return what is yours, especially if he is enriching himself with you belongings. They will say anything to keep them. The most ridiculous being, you cannot care for them. As if they were not pillaged from palaces and other places where they received honor and care.

This is good strategy if Africa were not more dependent on European trade than Europe on Africa's. I suggest a multipronged approach. First, the bold, non-negotiable request to the United Nations, with a case filed in the ICJ, for African Artifacts to be returned to Africa's possession needs to come from the African Union supported by the 54/55 nation states, not from Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt, etc. Second, Africa needs to become self-sufficient quickly, feeding itself, producing for itself, and investing in itself. Third, Africa needs to use its economic leverage based on its resources which are sorely needed in the west, withholding business concessions to those countries that are currently withholding our Artifacts. Finally, we demand financial reparations for the time the Artifacts are in foreign hands. This should encourage them to return them sooner than later!
I think much of the trade being done is resources controlled by "the west", obtained by their "spreading of democracy", which basically means creating a problem, then going in and solving the problem... which always somehow involves privatizing everything and then buying it up.
But admittedly, that is an assumption on my part based on specific examples where politician's relatives and friends currently own gold mines and the like in countries they "helped".
Putting that aside, due to the nature of politics in Africa, much of what would be returned may be looted and sold again.
I basically agree with you but the west needs to return what the stole. We will cross the bridge of future looting and illegal sales if we get to it.
Africans need to realise these are not just works of art...These stuff contain knowledge on advanced math and science. Africans mastered electricty, gravity, quantum mechanics over 3000 years ago... If it was me ruling Africa I will destroy their collective economies and they would be forced to return them with apologies and compensation. You cut them off getting their hands on any resources from the continent of Africa by labelling them as thieves. Because they should all have been returned under international laws. You make sure that their industries collapse. If they can manage to get resources else fine. Eventually those places would run out then Africa can fine them for delayed returns and double the prices of these minerals. They can take it or leave it. You will see how fast their return them all because they operate a parasite economic system that depends on Africa’s natural resources to boost their stock markets and their industrial technologies, military, scientific, space research etc. That Nefertiti bust is not African. It’s a fake and if returned should be bashed into unrepairable pieces for racism visited on the memories of our ancestors. The Chinese destroy fake artefacts. So should we.

How shameful and very disgraceful to display a stolen properties in your museum and call it your property? These Armed European Robbers not only stole human beings, but processions of Africans.

You forgot the brass/bronze Ife head sculpture, which was created in the 14th c. by the Yoruba. It is priceless and in the British museum.

The Benin bronzes were stolen after the brits burnt down our kingdom and exiled our king.
We fought and our kingdom was the last to be conquered in present day Nigeria.
We fought with sword, bows and arrows but they had the gun powder and that was the difference.
Our forefathers fought and many died too.
Our forefathers were taken and forced into slavery against their wish.
They took all the artifacts away and destroyed the king's palace to the ground.
