I take my other new bike out for its first proper ride. I was in two minds whether to get the KTM Duke 790 for a couple of reasons, one being naked bikes have never really been on my radar. So check out my first ride review and see how I got on with the Scalpel and if it's as good as everyone says it is. Авто/Мото
Hoping to ride that beast someday 👌👌👌
If you get a chance go for it. It's the most fun bike Iver ridden in years.
I'll ride together with you soon sir may motor r150 chill ride lang sir
Triple B planning to get duke 690 soon
im sure you wont be disappointed. If the 690 engine is anything like the 790 then its a beauty.
This was an awesome review! Your enthusiasm for your new ride is infectious, looking at the Duke 790 now! Funny you came into owning the bike with the concerns from the 44Teeth guys (brakes, tires, non adjustable suspension) but in the end it maybe doesn't make much difference because the bike is so fun.
Thanks. Yeh it doesn't matter at all. This bike is so much fun. Brakes get better after bedding in, tires are fine and the suspension is set up perfectly for my weight.
Fell in love with your 790 the same way I did, put a good smile on my face! [Subscribed]
Thanks for commenting. Yeh the 790 is a properly fun bike. Enjoy.
Great to see you are happy with the new bike. Wait for the roads to dry, get it in track mode with the AWC switched to off and enjoy the ride!
Thanks for the shout also fella 👍🏻
Thanks Will. Gotta say I'm loving this bike. So track mode around July then 😂.
You got a great deal there .Had mine a year and it's been great in all scenarios ,touring ,pillions say it's great , track days, commuting etc .you will love it more with a decant set of tyres on it .
Thanks. I had to sell mine just before lock down. I want to pick up another one when we are back in the Philippines next month but the price is sky high there. Around £12-13000 🙄
also do you think i could ride this to Germany ?
Loving your review of this bike. I guess you are realty happy with it. Do you think this bike would suit someone who will have an A2 licence KTM day it can be restricted but not sure if I will have all the features that are standard or do you think I would be better with the 390
Personally I'd go for the 390. By all accounts it's a really fun bike with enough power to keep you interested. I don't see the point of getting the 790 and restricting it as the power is the fun with this bike. Ive never ridden the 390 but will likely be getting one in a month or so and will stick a review up here. I have owned an RC390 and it has plenty of power to keep things entertaining.
The stock exhaust sounds so good especially on a cold start 😁
Agreed. It sounds awesome, especially when you use the clipper on the downshift.
It sounds like the riding position of my Duke 390. I ride that in Thailand and noticed the other day, when I took my 390 into a new dealer in Chiang Rai to get my rear brake bled, that they had a couple of these bikes, along with the 790 Adventure. I quite fancy a Duke 790. I rather enjoy riding a small bike, the 390 is actually easily fast enough for Thai roads, but the 790 is tempting me. The 790 is assembled in the Philippines, so there is no import duty in Thailand.
Has your bike been reliable?
Just bought a 2019 plate, its coming in a few weeks. Canna wait.
Congrats, you’re about to have a lot of fun
@@TripleB6036 ive got it now, been out twice on it, its so nimble compared to my old VXS1100.
@@McBeagleHound fantastic. Yeh it’s so light and torquey. Have fun.
good review, i just picked up mine last month.
Thanks. How you finding it?
@@TripleB6036 I'm loooving ittt
like and comment first before watching hahaha, what a monster bike
Haha thanks for liking. It's a beauty of a bike. Probably the most fun I've had in years 😁
Just bought this bike (2019 mod), but it will not be ok to ride here until mid april, so now I am here.
I bet it’s killing you having to wait. I’m back in the Philippines now so can ride again. I picked up a Duke 390 and an Africa twin but I miss the Duke 790.
@@TripleB6036 It really is. I'm like a kid, can't get it soon enough. How do you like the africa twin? I'm trying to go touring when all the restrictions are lifted. Seems like a great bike, altough expensive.
Im 1st viewer sir.. Ganda ng duke mo sir..
Awesome, man you were fast. Have a great weekend.
@@TripleB6036 im waiting so long for new vlog sir. Seeing for your place where you grow..hehe and 2nd video the sun show up hehe Godbless always sir..
This is just quick local rides. I'll show you some beautiful places too soon. Thank for watching and commenting.
I notice sir you hide ur speedometer when you shift to 4gr to 5th . I did not see what speed that moment ..hehe
@@erms1101 We have to here bro as sometimes the police may watch videos and fine you if you were over the speed limit. Obviously I wasn't though, must just be an error on the video ;-)
Nice review. You got a bargain at that price. Still liking it? What’s it like in juice? I’m looking to get one once the lockdown is over.
Thanks Stuart, I had to sell it at the start of lockdown. I miss that bike. I’d definitely recommend it as one of the most fun bikes out there. Fuel was ok, just a slightly small tank at 14 litres. I’d buy another for sure and I still might if they get stock over here. I’m about to head out on my new bike over here in the Philippines, video to come soon.
were could you get this bike for 6.800 ? its the same as the 2020 ?
Hi Tony, it was £6749 delivered. But they're all sold out. I've seen one at Colwyn Bay KTM for £6999. It's exactly the same as the 2020 except the paint scheme is slightly different. Yeh I'd ride Europe on one without worries.
Great choice .. they are cracking bikes .. I love mine 🙂 .... might pay to be a bit wary with yer running in though fella, supposed to keep it under 6K rpm until after the first service ... I've seen on some forums that KTM have allegedly been known to throw a hissy fit if ya take it over that limit too many times (apparently it's all recorded in the ECU and they can see everything when they plug in for diagnostics during the service). The engine also has thinner oil in it for the running in period (Motorex Cobra oil) so it's best not to thrash it too hard anyways until that gets swapped out for proper stuff at the service 😉 Oh and yeah you're right, give the brakes a chance to bed in as they do definitely get better after a few hundred miles ... maybe still not top spec brembo level but still much better once the pads and discs have lost their shiny newness, lol
Haha thanks for the heads up about them being fussy over the break in. I must admit I'm a believer in not baying the engine for break in. I tend to give it a good workout through the rev range (not up to redline though) early then ride it more gently until that first oil change. How long you had yours?
You still have the 790? How have you liked it over the long term?
Unfortunately I had to sell it at the start of lockdown so I don’t know,
Is there any leakage or something now? I’ve heard bad reliability control on these ktms
I think they fixed the issues after the first production run so 2019 onwards are supposedly ok.
What is a non naked bike that has torque and acceleration.
Well any 1000cc super sport has loads of both but probably too much for the street. It’s my personal opinion that a 600cc is better on the street. If you can’t grin from ear to ear while thrashing a ZX6R on good roads then you have to be dead inside. Or a Ducati Panigale 959 or the new V2.
how woud i fit on it if im 6'2
?
Well I’m 6ft and had no problems so I think you’d be fine. It wasn’t cramped for me unlike something like the Kawasaki z650 which certainly was.
Can I ask did you have any issues with the bike ? The reason why is that I am about to buy that exact bike !! 🤯🤯
None but I didn’t have it long.
@@TripleB6036 I can tell 😉
How come you sold it?
I left the U.K. so had to sell all my bikes.
Needs an extended front mudguard, and a hugger. Great looking bike. ( prefer the vstrom though ;)
I'm not sure I can put huggers on this bike, might ruin the aesthetics. Thanks for your comments. The V-Strom and this are so different to ride. I know which one I'd tour Europe on 😁
i think am gonna order the 2020 they give me a deal for 8200 you think its good ?
Seems pretty good. You won't regret getting the Duke 790. It's amazing fun. I've got a Duke 890R pre ordered. Where you from?
@@TripleB6036 the guy said he has 1 left but many people asking so ill hope to get it .. if not guess ill have to get the 2020 for 8200 . am from Liverpool but lived Germany for years so that's the drive i want
Well even if you get a 2020 it's still great value bike at 8200. Quickshifter, blipper, anti wheelie, riding modes and the torque is awesome fun. I had to sell mine before lock down to free up some cash otherwise I'd never have sold it. I gotta wait until June until my 890R is available sadly but got a ZX6R coming this Friday so that should keep me busy. I'll be interested to see what you think of the 790.
@@TripleB6036 ya i hope the 2020 is sam tourque as yours what did you sell your for ? m very new to these bikes I only ever had cross bikes really .. the 890r must be a monster .. ill look forward to a video from it ;) .. ill let you know once I have it and my licence
@@tonypritchard1321 The 2020 is exactly the same except a new paint job so im sure you'll love it. Good luck getting your license. Sold mine for £6000 so didnt lose too much and I've got a great deal on the new bikes. New videos should be coming after Friday with the new ZX6R. then mid/late next month for the 890R.
Yeah I'm gonna need to know what that into song is mate
The intro or the song that kicks in when showing the bike at the start?
@@TripleB6036 about a minute in
Nice sir ride safe sir good bless
I'm Just about to buy one of these, Managed to get mine for same price as you for 2019 model. But mine will be registered on 1st March with a 2020 plate. I cant f**king wait.....
Congrats, you wont be disappointed. Its the most fun I've had on a bike in years. Where did you get yours from?
@@TripleB6036 getting mine from Northampton Moto, but they are delivering it down to me near Reading. Im super excited...Are you going to add any mods or change anything on yours or do you leave you bikes stock?
I literally just got back from a ride on it. Sometimes I mod sometimes I don't. The thing with the Duke is it's so good stock I'm struggling to see what I would do to improve it. Maybe an Akra pipe but I genuinely like the sound of the stock can. I'll probably whack a tail tidy on it and maybe a few annodised parts at some point. Even the brakes felt good today now they're bedded in a bit. I adjusted the brake lever all the way out and it feels way better than before. The tires were grippy enough riding today on dry roads in 8c. Suspension is perfect for me as it is. Did you test ride before you bought it?
I think they might have some left. I opted out of getting the Akra pipe which made it cheaper and delivery was £99
Best review ever! 😍
Haha not sure about that but I had a great time making it. Thanks.
Please when videoing can you either keep your head up or down.. or adjust the camera angle... or upgrade your cam, I’m getting dizzy on this one 🤣👌
Better brakes for those tight british mountain twist... oh wait :)))
I'll try drive that one sir I Barrow hehe
Hahaha. Sure 😜
Hey thanks mate I seen one 2019 in pottories its called orange one I just gotten get my licence low Haha
They're not far from me. That's a used one though isn't it? Ex demo model. Just put in KTM Duke 790 on ebay and you will see one listed brand new 2019 model at £6995. They had about 6 left last week.

@@TripleB6036 i have called and sent a email I think its closed few other places have sold out of the last ones ! so gonna see if that one is still there ,, or for the 2020 they said 8200
@@tonypritchard1321 I spoke to them last week and they had 6 left. I guess they will be open on Tuesday as its Bank Holiday tomorrow.

Sofia your so cute ❤️😍 anyway nice bike 😍
Haha. Nice of her to buy me a bike although she didn't give me the cash yet 🙄
Liked the video just for your sweet Daughter! You have to know this.
Haha thanks. Yeh she accommodates my love of bikes well bless her. She keeps telling me to buy a Ducati. How can I argue with her 😁
@@TripleB6036 I am Italian! You should listen to her cause she is very smart!!! Buy Ducati amico mio😆
@@NattyDreaddy Haha she is right. I always wanted a Ducati since I was a young boy. The only problem is I am back in the Philippines now and I’m not sure about parts availability.
Thanks for commenting. Italy is my favourite country in the World. Such great people, food and Ducati plus Aprilia. I miss the gelateries 😁
@@TripleB6036 🙂 ✌✌ So one day you will Buy one! Maybe a Diavel like mine. 👋👋 wish you all good things
@@NattyDreaddy oh nice. If I get one it will be a Panigale. I’m actually reading up on the V2 now and doing some maths 😁 The V4 would be way too much power for the roads here. I’d actually be happy to have a V2 just as an object of beauty in my garage let alone get to ride it.
Ha ha - excellent!
Haha and not a dog in sight 😁
Jeezus talk some more why don't ya Christ lol
Don’t really see the point of your comment. It’s dead easy to click on another video if you don’t like what you see or hear. Don’t worry I won’t be offended.
