    These are my favorite cowboy boots of all time. They’re the most practical. Rubber-soled (can be worn around water), no leather midsole (midsole never gets scruffed nor needs to be dyed, so always looks presentable), no unnecessary cowboy stitching on the vamp (I don’t like such stitching), and still has a cowboy heel. Very comfortable too

Then since all the PNW companies are lazy or just waiting to get bought out. They all refuse to standardize their sizing... They could do this in a weekend at the Stitchdown event... But many PNW companies have come and gone.. So just give it time...

    I’ve been wearing red wings pecos for 30 years and in that time I have tried other brands. None can compare to the durability of redwing. Pacific north west boots excluded because I have never tried them. I would try the 11 1/2b before trying the 12 b though because I do wear a smaller size redwing than I do other boots

    In the "bend of the vamp", they almost "folded" over, or "rolled" over...like shell cordovan. I like them. The only disappointment for me, would be the composite heel block. No worries however, I would just wear the soles out...then when recrafting them...have them fitted with a nice stacked leather heel block. Those boots would last 10 years or so...working in them every day. I have about 4 pair of Pecos, 2 of which have lasted me almost 25 years, but to be fair, I dont wear them everyday. Good boots though, back in 1999 when I bought them...they were only $99 a pair.

    Pecos usually run true to size. I’m a 14C and wear a 14B (because of my low instep, I’d wear a 14C otherwise.). Most of the work line is true to size.

    • @Resistculturaldecline
      @Resistculturaldecline 7 месяцев назад

      How much heel slip do you have when new vs. after broken-in ? And do you have heel slip when walking uphill, such as working in ditches ?
      I've have several redwings over the last 25 yrs, but never the 1155.

    • @MrDavidlfields
      @MrDavidlfields 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@Resistculturaldecline I have had 1105, 1132, and 1104 as well. These are lower heeled than the 1155. I generally have more ski when new than after broken-in. Never much though. Maybe 1/2 to 3/4 inch.
      For me, they always slip a little in the heel. If the forefoot flexes, the heel raises. So even walking uphill, there is a little slip.
      I always wear over-the-calf boot socks. Always.

    Thanks for the review. I grew up wearing the 1178 which had a much thinner heal and if you have talked to anyone who has worn those they will tell you it was amazingly comfortable. Curious if anyone has asked for a comparison to that boot. My main concern with this boot is the heal size. Redwing has told me they are not bringing back the 1178.

    Red wings are no longer the qaulity they once were. There is no lifetime warranty on them anymore. Now there is only a year warranty, if anything happens after a year your paying for shipping and whatever cost they decided they want to charge you. Also people don't realize it but they are not solely made in USA anymore most are made over seas. I have owned at least 11 red wings boots throughout my Life. I'm 56 years old and a contractor who has tried pretty much every brand out there . Red wings were good back in the 80s but not no more . They would last at least 5 years before the soles or stitching started to unravel. I just purchased a pair last year 2023 and paid $400 for them 2 days ago the stitches Ontop came apart, I took them into the red wings store in my area they said I barely made it in time before my 1 year warranty expired, I told them I thought they were lifetime warranty? They said not any more. They gave me a brand new pair because it was only 11 months and they couldn't be repaired. Back in the 80s they always could be repaired even if the stitching were to unravel. They said no they use machines for everything, therefore they are not hand made from scratch like they were in the 80s. She went on to say that they are a union company as well and they are having problems keeping people aboard to work because of our lazy new generation no one wants to work. They live with mommy and daddy till they are 40 years old so the qaulity of the manufacturing is just not there anymore. I have a pair of iron age that are now 7 years old and still going strong and 1/4 of the price that you pay for red wings. You see back in the 80s people cared about there jobs, they cared about the workmanship, in 2024 the only thing the new generation cared about is being on there cell phones and social media. She ( manager ) at this store is 65 years old and been working for red wings for over 30 years she said it's the new generation that has caused red wings qaulity to fall to the curb side,

      @TonySop Stronger is a matter of opinion. I've never destroyed either. Composite is way worse for your feet, knees and back. They don't allow your weight to distribute evenly within the boot. The insole needs to collapse around and support the foot, not hold the weight up like rubber or Composite.

      @@Noah-vm4ibthe insole in this boot is the same as the 1105, 1159 and 1178. Worn those, and this boot. Compared to others, my feet and knees and back do better with these over modern day insoles. Newer removable styles actually cause more problems
