I apologize, I realized I never put anything in the description box. I have linked everything for you, and it roughly cost me about $100. Hope that helps!
Hello!!! Great job! I’m doing something similar later this Abe am so glad I ran across your video, I’m definitely getting spackling for my project!! Also, a little tip (if I can), use bamboo skewers to adhere the faux dummies together. That way you’ll be able to separate them easier later.
@@withwondercakehouse I did it!!! It came out better than I’d hoped! I ran out of time and had to change my initial design, but loved the finished product! Thanks again, and thank you for deciphering my typos 😂
Can you give your thoughts on remaking this and letting it dry and then storing it in a plastic bag for a wedding on January 20? Not with the real cake of course yet. But we an we premade all the dummies? 😊
I have definitely made a few faux cakes lately and never removed the spackle and its held up from months on end! I stored them fully decorated and "iced" on top of my fridge until I was ready to use them again lol So you can make your dummies far in advance.
Thanks! I didn’t know how to “frost” styrofoam! I tried and it was a frustrating fail but with your tips (gripper pad/heavy can on top) I will give it another try!
Thank you so much for this! 1)How long before can you prepare it? 2) Can you reuse the foam for practice multiple times on? 3) is it hard to stick real flowers in it?
Honestly, you can make this months advance with the faux buttercream [spackle]. It hardens and can last for a very long time. You can reuse the foam by scraping off real or faux buttercream. If you take care of it properly, the dummy cake can last you a little while. I didn't have a hard time putting florals in, I recommend using toothpicks or wire! Hope this helps! 💕
Wish I knew this method existed when I made my wedding cake. I just put up the video on my channel and i used real fondant which turned out beautiful but this is so much easier!!
Most times, it's because the couple wants a certain look/size but don't actually need that much cake. They had sheet cakes already sliced and plated and then were served to the guests after they "cut the cake" and took the "cake cutting" photos!
🎉❤ awesome I still believe you should’ve charged for cake sometime we do things but yet now you’re gonna make it hard when you want to charge so it’s better to say yes supplies plus $250 something because your work is awesome blessing dear resize you gotta start preparing for college for that baby🎉
Quick Question… I also make fake cakes with patch and paint.. I need to make a cut out for cake BUT I don’t want to use buttercream because I have to ship it… I’m not including cake also… just the cutout
Yes, it will harden and crust almost like real buttercream. I haven't tried reusing it yet, but I feel like you can if you just scrape it off with hot water [just like I would do with real buttercream].
Where and how much were the materials?
I apologize, I realized I never put anything in the description box. I have linked everything for you, and it roughly cost me about $100. Hope that helps!
I'm about to pull out my cake decorating tool box and save $600
Do it sis! Save some coins!
Can I use a cardboard box or from the Dollar Tree boxes where I can put my hand inside to spackle? New to all things arts and crafts.
Very beautiful, what are the measurements? Thank you! ❤
I’ve never seen someone use real food mixed with non food item I think ill pass on that idea rather use all fake roaches lol
So glad I found this video. Great ideas
Thanks for watching!! 💕

Yes, it can be frustrating since it's so lightweight 😩 but putting something heavy on top definitely helped! Good Luck!
If it was real cake will be transported in a dirty car too?
Thank you so much for this!

I've also seen them wrap the styrofoam in seran wrap to ease removal and reuse foam.
How long does it take to dry
Love this and thank you ! May I ask where and how much these styrofoams were. Thanks !
Beautiful! Yes please make more tutorials.

Why would anyone want a styrofoam wedding cake genuine question was it just for decoration??

Maybe you could cover the cutout with a thin layer of fondant or chocolate?
Great job
Thank you so much!!
Thanks for the video! This is so helpful 🥰 What icing did you use to match the spackling?
Hi! I used american buttercream!
Thank you for the tutorial, does the fake buttercream harden?
Is it what I can scrape and reuse?
Yes, it will harden and crust almost like real buttercream. I haven't tried reusing it yet, but I feel like you can if you just scrape it off with hot water [just like I would do with real buttercream].
It's so beautiful
Too much chit chat.
hermoso ❤️
Is this wall putty?
Essentially! Its a putty to fill holes on wall. It has a very similar texture to buttercream!
