This sing got me through one of the hardest times in my life. i will forever be in debt to the Souls for that. I know a youtube comment means nothing, but thank you
The souls get lots of us thru tough times... I belee they do appreciate our youtube comments. They are just punx from new jersey, and I bet they do care about us.
Proof that one can have an appealing and catchy sound while maintaining artistic integrity. so few bands do that these days that these guys earned my instant respect the first time i heard them.
It was a cloudy night, or so it looked to me I felt so lost, I couldn't say why I needed strength to change my mind, but these ghosts stick to me like glue Hating life, believing I was no good It was a darkness all my own A song played on the radio It went straight to my heart I carried it with me until the darkness was gone It was a cloudy night, or so it looked to me I felt so lost, I couldn't say why I built this cloud to live in, it was a bunch of lies in my mind The world wants me to believe it, so I had to change my mind It was a darkness all my own A song played on the radio It went straight to my heart I carried it with me until the darkness was gone I built this cloud, I can break it The world can't change how I feel Because I know it's a lie My heart is real
That’s something I always loved about the Souls. They’re smart guys and great musicians but they don’t over-complicate the message they’re trying to send in their songs. Just a great riff and lyrics about how music pulls us out of dark times for a moment or two. A truly universal human experience.
Man, I'm almost 30, I remember listening to their music when I was about 14. I love these guys. So glad they are still around. A piece of musical history.
Marketing? With the Bouncing Souls, the band who insisted that MTV not be serviced with their videos? Don't be a douchebag. The Souls are as close as any of you guys will ever see to 80's hardcore. They live it. They love it and they've been inspiring us for damn near twenty years. The Bouncing Souls are probably the finest punk/HC band of the last fifteen years. Respect. sunset BlankTV
This song optimise's my love for this band. No matter my mood this song always brings me back up again, The Bouncing Souls are one of the greatest punk bands ever and some of the coolest people (in bands) I have had the chance to meet.
7 Seconds, what a band. A sound of my youth and they're always be. I love the message, the music and the I know it sounds corny but the 'naivety' and the 'niceness'. Punk Rock how it should always be.
ok kids - there is not reason to fight over which band is "better"...everyone has a different opinion and is entitled to it. i personally love the bouncing souls and have for a very long time! HAPPY 20 YEAR ANNIVERSARY BOUNCING SOULS and THANK YOU for making it to Denver for Warped Tour!
I caught these guys when i was 13 playing to 200 people at a Snowboard Tramp contest at then Vernon Valley (now Mountain creek) promoting the 'green ball crew" They are the absoulte best and i think its great how much love and respect they get in the comments- they deserve it. They covered 'growing up' by springsteen at their last show at CBGB and Max Weinberg himself stepped in in drums. My Jersey pride was off the charts!
To me music like this is summer idk why bands like the bouncing souls, descendants, nofx, offspring etc are just the perfect songs to blast on a hot summer day
I love how people are talking shit about this amazing, iconic band and calling them sellouts. What makes them sellouts? The fact that they didn't record this in their basement? They're not even close to sellouts. You know what label they're on now? Rise Records. The farthest thing from a major label. Yea I know they got a bunch of shitty "scene-core" bands but they got some great ones too. This being one. Who the fuck cares about how huge they are or whatever. All that matters is if they love the music they make and I'm pretty sure they do. So stop talking shit about this band on their own video and go home if you can't handle that.
no one gives a shit about what? about what makes music music? cause if so than pretty much no one should be on this website at all cause all half the people do here is talk shit about bands that don't deserve it
***** +FrontLineProspect +FrontLineProspect Are you going to debate about the definition of "psychology" just because you don't know what sarcasm is and you don't have any arguments to reply? I'm pretty sure I don't have any friend as disrespectful and mentally poor as you (calling someone faggot just because he gave an opinion about a band plus telling him to "calm down" is being mentally poor) so you, "my friend", are not my friend.
Sitting here with tears in my eyes cause everything is fucked.. I came to this song to remember how I felt before life REALLY got bad and I wasn't just looking for things to complain about. Punk rock is my only therapist.
7 seconds shirt ftw. They were a brilliant band as well that not many people knew about. It's nice to that Bryan likes them. This band never fails to make me happy, their sound, the lyrics, it's all amazing.
that band means a lot 2 me espacially that whole record with songs like "the something special""lifetime" n "gone"!!!!!!!!!!! "until the darkness is gone!!!!!!!!"
This and Manthem are their 2 songs I've carried with me since my teenage years. These guys belong right up there with Springsteen and Bon Jovi as the pride of New Jersey.
It was a cloudy night...or so it looked to me.... I felt so lost; I couldn't say why. I needed strength to change my mind, but these ghosts stick to me like glue. FUCKING YES.
I'm 29 so I've learned along time ago that anyone who proclaims how "punk" they are is probably in reality a poser, the real punks i grew up around would never be so quick to label themselves....really anything haha, remember that kids, just enjoy whatever you enjoy and dont be a wuss about it and dont aplogize, that shits punk(also the hardest core punk kid i ever knew wore blue polo shirts, not just a denim jacket with blackflag shit pinned on haha)
I consider the Ramones and descendents punk as well as blink 182's first four or 5 albums, sure they switched to a more alternative rock sound but they're still not bad and I still like them but hell descendents is one of my favourite bands of all time
ive seen them live a ton of times i used to see them at all the punk shows in nyc and not only that i met them at a coffee shop after one of the shows they are all really cool you def need to check out a show sometime
Anyone hating on the Souls needs to go watch their documentary Do You Remember! Then you'll see these guys worked their butts off to get where they are today! These guys earned it! Now piss off!
it was a cloudy night.. so it looked to me.. i felt so lost, i couldn't say why.. i needed strength to change my mind.. but those ghosts stick to me like glue, hating life, believing I was no good.. true that i feel like listening to punk makes all the difference when shit gets hard, like i feel so much more optimistic when listening. Take it easy and stay positive, good luck with whatever it is your dealing with
i saw these guys at the fest in Gainesville during Halloween that shit was crazy one of the best concerts i have ever been to and i have been to a lot of concerts
stop comparing punk bands punk is one music genre. When punk started it was a chance for the working class to finally say what he or she felt and the souls, rancid anit pasti, black flag, i can go on and on lol are keeping it alive but people comparing it is breaking punk up into little peices then it will all be thrown away like it never happened. Long live the souls. Long live punk.

Keep the faith. Life is really really hard for us all, you are not alone.
The world would be a fuck of a lot better place with more bouncing souls.....period!!!!!!!!!!
Agreed.
As a jersey shore punk kid, I consult this song when I have to make a life decision. Thanks as always, Souls❤
Middletown, NJ '97, represent. The souls are ours. Yours and mine.
I love new jersey and the souls ❤️❤️❤️
Proof that one can have an appealing and catchy sound while maintaining artistic integrity. so few bands do that these days that these guys earned my instant respect the first time i heard them.
First punk band I ever saw in the early 1990's, and still one of the best of all time.
Joe Schloes there nxactympink but there American / pop if that helps 😊

I am really young, but have listened to these guys since I was ..... well forever.
I LOVE BOUNCING SOULS!
I remember watching this video on Punk-o-Rama after coming how from punk or ska shows. I was introduced there to the Bouncing Souls. Good band.
7 Seconds, what a band. A sound of my youth and they're always be. I love the message, the music and the I know it sounds corny but the 'naivety' and the 'niceness'. Punk Rock how it should always be.
I love this song!!!!!! Bouncing Souls are just a simple classic punk band.

it was a cloudy night.. so it looked to me.. i felt so lost, i couldn't say why.. i needed strength to change my mind.. but those ghosts stick to me like glue, hating life, believing I was no good.. It was a darkness all my own a song played on the radio, but it went straight to my heart..

It was a cloudy night,
or so it looked to me,
I felt so lost,
I couldn't say why
I built this cloud to live in,
It was a bunch of lies in my mind.
the world wants me to believe it
so I had to change my mind.
It was a darkness all my own
a song played on the radio,
but it went straight to my heart
I carried it with me
until the darkness was gone...
I built this cloud I can break it
The world can’t change how I feel
Because I know it’s a lie
My heart is real
Gone...
If you can't enjoy the souls, you don't have one.
