Amazing horse and amazing person! He has beautiful strong feathered feet, and the lady shows a lot of care and knowledge on how to ride. What a nice situation for everyone involved!!!
Funny, the side-sadle is called "Damensattel" in German, which basically means "Lady's saddle". Very fitting I think after seeing the video of this fabolous duo.
She said it's a young horse, I think the double mane and most of the hair starts to really get profuse when they're like four or five, but yeah she got lucky, that little mare will give her everything she's got.
Reminds me of my old horse He has Beautiful Markings, Very Well Feathered & Very Good Manners The 2 of them were meant to be by the look of it Happy Days Ahead
That lady and horse have a great bond and she clearly knows how to look after her horse. The horse is beautiful. I would love to try side saddle 😃 those precision reins would be quite handy for her :) The pony has her forelock nice and long to keep the flies away. I love long Manes and fore locks :) lovely pony and kind lady :) my mother has arthritis in her hands too 😘 Her tweed jacket is very fancy ❤️😜
It's so great to see a horse that was obviously illtreated & neglected looking wonderful & also behaving like that. This is why I would love a rescue horse from World Horse Welfare!!
+Morgan Styles i am planning to get a horse as i have started riding again after 15 years and in the last year a spinal oparation to fuse 2 discs. it will take some time as just like this lady i am not strong in my back. if i can would love to give a home to one of thees lovely horses from world horse welfare.
Wow, Shanly is such a beautiful horse and you two have such a great bond! I ride English, but, I would love to learn more about the art of side-saddle!
There us a we bit more to this story.... you can tell she wants to keep it private. Part of me wants to find out more about her. Though, I also respect her privacy. Love how she thinks of the future and has a plan for her horse.
Nice. Although I'm curious why the long mane over the horse's face hasn't been trimmed. Would it not be irritating for him, having it in his eyes all the time..?
I know zero about horses but I cannot imagine how it could be comfortable riding side saddle. can someone please explain. It does seem rather uncomfortable and a complete recipe for messing up your back , you being turned at that odd angle combined with the rocking gait of the horse.
I think there's a good reason almost no one rides side saddle these days - it's a worse way of riding in almost every way, and now that women aren't forced to ride side saddle, almost no one will do it. BUT it clearly is more comfortable for this particular woman. Presumably she has pain when she turns her hip joints in certain ways, which she doesn't need to do for side saddle.
jussayin mipeece When riding side-saddle, you are actually sitting square on the horse's back. The seat is designed slightly wider with a short ridge on the right side of the horse to help your right leg stay put. When you are in the saddle, your left leg drops down, and makes room for your right. It doesn't twist your back at all. Try sitting straight in a chair and cross your legs, right over left, with your left not moving. That's about the same angle that your leg sits. Make sense? :)
I'm pretty sure it's English. It was invented for upper class women who were not allowed to ride normally because it was considered 'indecent' because it showed their legs too much. Almost no one rides side saddle any more, because it's far less practical and effective. I never thought of someone with arthritis finding it more comfortable but apparently so!
Nina Clarke Side-Saddle is primarily English. The Western 'side-saddle' only popped up in the last 20-40ish years. If someone claims to have an antique western side saddle, it's a fake, or the padded Spanish design used on the Andalusians/Lustianos/etc. :)
He’s so beautiful. The woman as well. But is it just me? But do all these Pinto/Paint horses I’ve seen so many in these videos seem like part “Gypsy Vanner” horses? Says a lot....those horses were essential to travellers back through the centuries, but now they just seem to get dumped in commons to interbreed with other horses/ponies. I’m not saying that’s what happens to ALL of them; but it seems there’s a high percentage that do. Maybe more because travellers have hard times stabling and caring for Vanners as their constantly on the move themselves. But ive always wanted one to be honest. Pinto is my favourite coat colour, and I love the feathers on their feet
What a lovely lady to be thinking ahead about Shanly's welfare if she becomes unable to care for him. A beautiful partnership.
a gorgeous gentle pony and just right for that lady. Thanks for the great story
Amazing horse and amazing person! He has beautiful strong feathered feet, and the lady shows a lot of care and knowledge on how to ride. What a nice situation for everyone involved!!!

There's truly a horse for everyone, isn't there?
Great to see how the right horse finds the right human. Love it.

AWWWW!
I feel really sorry for that lady
Nice. Although I'm curious why the long mane over the horse's face hasn't been trimmed. Would it not be irritating for him, having it in his eyes all the time..?
Forelocks help protect horses' faces from flies in summer and bad weather in winter. For a traditional cob, it's correct to leave it long.
Nah. These breeds of horses are used to it and usually the owner will push the forelock out of its eyes before riding.
His forelock is so long
The hours is very very very favarate best hours is a nice😎😍
2:01 Is the camera gone yet? Nope.
❤️❤️
Is that more painful for the horsr?

jussayin mipeece She said that riding astride caused her pain. I didn't hear why, possibly a problem with her hips.

what kind of horse is this?
He looks like he has Gypsy Vanner blood in him he’s a beautiful horse.
So would you say “side saddle” is western or english
I'm pretty sure it's English. It was invented for upper class women who were not allowed to ride normally because it was considered 'indecent' because it showed their legs too much. Almost no one rides side saddle any more, because it's far less practical and effective. I never thought of someone with arthritis finding it more comfortable but apparently so!
This side saddle is English, you can also get western side saddles though.
