All four are still original, thankfully :)
Went here yesterday on my last visit in Hong Kong before cruising back to Singapore. Oh, these apartments are known as Tai Cheung Building based on the Use Permit certificate inside the elevators.

I am as fascinated about elevators as much as I am afraid of them. I use to get stuck in a freight elevator all the time at one of my old jobs. They are so interesting to me.

Obviously the inside buttons have been replaced at some time in the 1970s with R-Series.

I remember when blocks of flats in the UK used to be like this - Open doors, external lift blocks (walk from the street straight into a lift. Then came security doors and all the lift blocks were enclosed and concierges were added on. Hong Kong is the place to be for old lifts it would seem. I've been to Hong Kong quite a few times, but unfortunately it has always been a flight connection and I've never left the airport. Would absolutely love to explore Hong Kong like you've done here. Did you have any luck with the machine rooms? Used to love you videos when you filmed motor rooms, the dedicated camera views, angles and detail. Even if the door is locked, always interesting to see where they are in relation to the lift, as sometimes they are gloomy and dark (and sometimes unlocked! ;)

Ah, that sounds like good memories. My best memories are when all elevators with manual doors still had no inner doors (in Denmark). That was before the big fat nasty bureaucrats decided to end that around year 2000. Hong Kong is an amazing place to explore. They are not at all hysteric about security and modernizations. One of the best places on earth.
I do have an interesting motor room tour scheduled to be released on 24. March. It's an original 1960s Schindler (pop-out) with selector wheel.. located in Belgrade, Serbia

The elevators are probably refubished by Schindler R-series in 1970's

Why do they keep these old, creepy and dangerous buildings? If this was in South Korea or other countries, these buildings were demolished in 90s...
Also, these elevators' maintenance is quite bad. I rode an old Schindler from 1957 in Korea, the ride was perfect, like that lift is new
