Suggestion attempt 3: Make Coloradan El Paso County be heavily inclined towards a militaristic mindset. (El Paso County has 4 major military installations including 2 Air Force bases, an Army fort, and the Air Force Academy. This may lead to a major antagonistic character that seeks to unite all lands visible from the summit of Pikes Peak under one banner. Name may be changed to "Dominion of Pikes Peak" or similar. However, this empire could then attempt to spread out across the entire great plains region, attempting to bring the entire region under the banner of the granite compass.
