ManU hope that it was an aberration and not a collapse, but take it from me that they lost the ability to play football in the 2nd half and Liverpool scored 7 from 8 shots on target - just ruthless.
As Gary Neville rightly said, Anfield has a deserved reputation for humbling the greatest teams and that's true but ManU capitulated after that second goal and had a captain who could not and did not lead on the pitch. Klopp get the tactics right and ETH got them dead wrong and there was no Plan B.
Yes it's a reality check but ManU need to find the belief back that they deserve to be in the CL next season because there are great teams and managers who watched that game with great interest.

For what you're about to read, just know I'm a Derby fan, and a neutral for this fixture
Didn't a lot of those come either last season or early this one.
      - 6-1 City (Ole?) Tactically outclassed, can't really be excused
      - 6-1 Spurs (Ole) Defence well and truly exposed, Shaw and Maguire revealing their weakness, that or tactics were a complete mismatch
      - 5-0 Liverpool (Ole/Rangnick?) In the midst of an awful season, rotten attitude in dressing room, CR7 possibly not helping, same old exposed defence, same with the other 0-4
      - 4-0 Brighton (ETH) Trying to use that exposed defence instead of instantly replacing them for new boys, show why they weren't the right people to start, we're quickly changed, either after this or the Brentford game. Also worth noting that Brighton (and Brentford) had started the properly click, and their moneyballing philosophy was coming into play a lot more than previously, just see their results vs other big 6 teams this season.
      - 6-3 vs City (ETH) The established defence, but meeting the absolute beast that was Haaland, quick goals and shock took them by surprise and they didn't really recover until City backed off toward the end.
      - 7-0 Liverpool (ETH) Had a good first half and christ knows what happened in the 2nd, my only guess is down to shock of how quickly the game went against them, lost their heads.

Even if Arteta misses out on the league (which I doubt he will) he's still had a far far FAR better season than Ten Hag. Arteta didn't get smashed 4 nil by Brentford, 6 at city and 7 at Liverpool. They just had a huge injury crisis, a resulting decline in results, a subsequent crisis of confidence, and extremely high level competitors around them. A season prior they went within two 90 minute games of winning the quadruple. As we speak now, Liverpool are undefeated in the Premier League in 15 matches... the longest running undefeated streak of all teams in the league. I agree with Gary that it's a freak performance because of what we've seen from United so far this season. I'm not concerned as United fan that this will derail the season because we've already seen ETH lift the team after heavy defeats. Top 4 was always the priority this season, the Cup a bonus, it was others that were talking about us being Title Contenders, we never were. This squad clearly isn't good enough for that and ETH needs to be supported in the coming Transfers window if he is to change that.
