  • We’ve hit the halfway point of 2023 iRacing Season 2! For Week 6 of Dave Cam’s Zero to Hero series, Dave is revisiting a car he became very familiar with in Season 1, that being the Toyota GR86 Cup.
In fact, this is technically a combination that he’s done before. The first race of his GR86 Cup Series was at this same track - VIRginia International Raceway - but it was the previous version of the track that no longer exists. This will then be a new challenge with the newly rescanned 3.270-mile (5.262-kilometer) venue with 17 corners.
There’s no Piers Prior or Jack Doohan in the field this week, but the action is just as intense as ever. In the 17-car field, Dave is starting from the 16th starting spot. This may be one of his tougher challenges at first glance, but some very early contact ahead of Dave could prove to be useful in his quest to finish as high as possible.
Things will get spicy towards the end of the race as well in the fight for the victory. You’ll need to stay tuned to see how it all plays out!
Be sure to check out the rest of the Dave Cam content we’ve got here on the Traxion.GG website and Traxion.GG RUclips page. Also, we’ve got a huge library of content related to racing games, equipment, and more on the channel as well. Tune in to the Traxion.GG Discord to see when Dave’s next race will be! Keep it pinned!

Well, I just can say it was a pleasure racing against Dave. I toasted the qualy trying to push it too hard. Once I saw we were starting at the back I kinda felt like we could push through the pack. At the end though we wouldn't have catched up to the lead if it hadn't been for the carnage so that's why I decided to fight for position as soon as I got the chance. I'm definently in need of a triple-screen setup though, because sometimes I can't see and I give a lot of space as a precaution. Great Racing! See you on track!

I know this wasn't necessarily a track guide, but I learned so much from this video vs track guides on how to drive the gr86 at VIR. I was stuck in 2:09s before watching this and got down to a 2:07.6 and drove it safely. Thank you!!!

After earlier frustrations with carnâge it's great to see Dave cresting a recent wave of good fortune and brilliant driving!
Another great choice of combo, with VIR being another Dave speciality, but then to find a great duel with Joan added, really adds a cherry to an already tasty race.

Damn, my editor had one job....to cut out the pace lap. I'll have a word 😁

It's not the first time Editor Chan has been 'on holiday'. I do sometimes query why iRacing persists with such long pace laps.
I'm sure I've seen some VIR races start on the long straight previously, or am I mistaken?! Perhaps that's just for multi-class?
But if it's possible for that, then why not an option? I'm not sure if ACC's ghosting on a pace lap is better or not, but is safer!

Damn, if you think about it, 4 weeks is a pretty long time when spent on a page lap. 😉

Great combo to hotlap, but in reality the racing is usually quite dull 🫤
