My concern is one of hygiene and efficacy. J**king off in a solo cup and letting it sit until someone shows up? Hardly sterile. And how long can sperm survive like that? It just seems very sketchy. Motives and methods aside, these children are very lucky to be wanted and welcomed.

This has to be one of the toughest subjects on this planet. If you are really a unbiased morally good person, this one just stumps me. To get this off my chest right away, there 100% has to be a mental health issue with Ari. I'm not saying he is a bad person or a immoral guy. I like how he goes about things, but your dam naive if you think you can "be there" for all these kids if they feel like asking for help or for contact. It's like setting yourself up for failure. BUT who cares if it will make the recipient happy and both agree on the rules and know the situation. BUT is the recipient doing this for herself? Or for the child? BUT will the child be happy? BUT when the child is not happy because she had 100 siblings, SO its ok for her if there was only 10 siblings? Who is she to say any number. I DEEPLY understand the need and want to have a child. Its deff a unfathomable feeling if someone was trying to conceive for years. BUT in the end, who is this really all for? The parents selfish reasons? The donors naive feelings and reasons? Poor kids have no fcuking say in anything. Everyone needs to celebrate June 1st and protect real biological kids and keep humanity out of La La Land.

He's procreating and spreading his genes with minimal responsibility while traveling the world; maybe he has mental health issues or he's an overgrown child. I agree the issue is a tough one. I thought the same thing you mentioned about the donor-conceived woman activist - actually she nor any of the other such offspring has the right to 'cap' the number of "siblings" they may have. I thought it was awfully weird that that's even within the realm of perceived 'rights.' It's one thing to say one has a 'right' to know who their biological parent is - but that's something of a moral right, not a legal right (even a biological mom may not know, in which case she's violating that 'right') - and are these people even your 'siblings' anyway? They share half their genes with you but you actually have no real connection to them when you don't even know whose sperm you all came from. And why is it a 'right' to (try and) establish a relationship with these people? As someone mentioned below, my biggest concern would be about the possibility of incest, but unless he's donating to people in a concentrated geographical area, the probability seems unlikely.

27:54 We've reached a point where nearly anyone and everyone can create a human life. Relationship status, sexual preference, financial means are no longer barriers." Only because of Ari and his like! Otherwise the financial costs can be a significant burden. This is the point. And as for donor-conceived children, if one has the mindset of being a victim, then one is a victim. Yes, victim complex. If one is happy to be living a life, then one might consider being grateful. My $0.02.

As someone raised by a single mom I would be mad if my mom used a donor instead of finding a father I wouldn't be mad a t the guy though

What's needed are precise national (and international) regulations about sperm donation which is centered around the rights of the children (and adults who were conceived due to donation). They have an absolute right to know about their parentage, their genetic and health history and contact information with their birth father and updated full list of siblings. Ari is an attention-seeking narcissistic ass, but just because this film purposely sought him out doesn't mean donation is somehow wrong. And as to religious objections, maybe they should first worry about abuse of women, sexual assault, child abuse and corruption within their own faiths.

Unimpressed. This is not right. But at least I do now think that if anyone is going to do it, it should never be done anonymously... And the sperm donor should ACTUALLY CARE enough about the child's future well being to really get to know the mother beforehand to make sure she is of outstanding character and fit to raise a child... It's a hell of a thing... And I imagine a donor conceived child would feel much better if they were the one and only child that sperm donor has fathered and therefore are "special" to him... as opposed to one of a hundred... took 3 mins for a quick wank in a hotel room... Disgusting. Additionally if I would even consider sperm donation for a moment I'd want there to be mutual attraction, otherwise it is violating a sacred law of nature... It's the type of thing that for me would have to be with a FWB casual relationship or something where they pop the question for me to be a no-responsibility donor... Even then... There's probably a reason I don't want to wife them up... and for that same reason, I'd probably be reluctant to go ahead... Children should in general be conceived in a traditional family structure where both parents have mutually vetted each other as attractive, good natured people that have thoroughly vetted each other for marriage beforehand (with the characteristics that will hopefully make children the same!) - sperm donation is dangerous territory.

@@Christ_Is_King34 i would be extremely angry if my parent could have chosen a good gene but chose a bad one. every day i would suffer the lack of intelligence even worse than now which is horrible and makes me think we are living in hell instead of limbo. imagine humanity in 1000 years with no evolutionary pressure. we will be like how dogs devolved from wolves but worse, stacy and chad but they need constant surgery, lack brain, almost blind and deaf, and lifespan of 20 years. just because you were told a concept is bad (arbitrarily), then found it in my comment, doesnt mean my comment is bad.
