After Ella Fitzgerald and Dinah Washington, the world has waited for decades for someone like Samara to appear. Finally.
And Sarah Vaughn. ❤
Just perfection!!!!!!!! And I'm 85 so I saw Ella and Sarah in person at Birdland as a teenager!
Here Here
Well said! ♥
Wow 😮
After listening to (suffering through) all of the Grammy auto tone excuses for talent...comes this real treasure! The "New Artist" Grammy winner! A true VELVET VOICE for our age! You go girl!
you don't have to put down other people to uplift one. samara is a wonder without comparison
True, but at the same time, he is right.
Yesssssss
@@carnigob42069 many are sick and tired of autotune and always the same chords.
@Roger Pointer lhe falo com toda sinceridade, que eu como brasileiro sou um dos milhares que torceu pela vitória de Samara Joy. Música, isso sim é música. Sem devassidão nas letras e no corpo e sem pornografia audível. Meus ouvidos agradecem.😊❤
I'm 70.. 'listened to every version of this song imaginable. This composition over all is perfect. I don't usually care for as much busy-ness from a jazz guitar supporting a vocal, but he pulls it off. Her voice on the other hand, tonally, is just beautiful, and only compares to her perfect sense of phrasing. I am so impressed. Thank you for posting something so beautiful I was fortunate to find. I will now listen to anything I can find that you've recorded ;)
Me too 70. My Dad would remember my Mama and sing this song. The one by Nat King Coles. I liked it for those reasons alone. I love the one by Willie Nelson. I never listened to a female sing it. I am sold, hook line and reel me in. I agree with all you've said. Congratulations Ms. Joy...
Agree...
Who's the guitarist? Usually, Samantha gives credit to supporting musicians.
Pasquale Grasso.
Well said!
Stardust is said by Jazz singers to be one of the hardest jazz standard to sing. Well here Samara makes it look easy. I keep thinking this over and over but her phrasing and tonal vocals are just sublime. I could melt listening to this classy lady. I appreciate her talent enormously.
Not only is it difficult to sing properly, it has the misfortune to be the piece of music that has been recorded by more performers than any other. Most should give up trying because it is technically beyond their ability. Samara, on the other hand, gives a master class in how it should be done. Out of this world
@@michaeltutty1540 Absolutely! It's remarkable how effortless and beautiful her rendition is. Exemplary.
She takes me back to a world I can only imagine. Thanks Samara for the journey.
SAME!😊
I've discovered Samara today and I have immediately become an absolute fan. The classic style of Sarah Vaughan, and Carmen McRae is still alive. What a great voice and sense of jazz!
Absolutely!
Sarah Vaughn and Carmen McRae are my absolute favs…
amazing
This young lady is absolutely amazing. The richness of her tone is haunting!
Very few singers today can sing like this, they just don't have the OCTAVES to do it, SAMARA JOY does, and a JOY to listen to.
I've ordered a copy of vinyl. Such a beautiful voice, such a splendid jazz guitar playing!
There's Vinyl!???!!
At last a new voice. A bowl of fresh air. Thank you Samara Joy!
Wishing you the very best ! ♥️😘
Wow! That voice is so mature I was expecting to see a grand dame. I love her. I've just purchased her CD.
Can I just say, this reminds me of the 20s-30s music you hear them listening to during WW2 documentaries. Gotta love her melodic, voice. Angels couldn’t have done it better 💯
My Dad would love this God Rest His Soul x He loved Duke Ellington Ella Fitzgerald plus Many More x
A Jazz man! May he rest in peace with the greats,
Samara, cashmere and velvet. Your voice is the perfect mixture.
She is just absolutely once in a generation voice! It is truly a musical instrument.
Echoes of Ella... Simply beautiful! ❤
So beautifully rendered, Samara. And Mr. Grasso, you're superb. Greetings from Brazil.
We had the privilege of hearing her in Seattle last week with fine pianist Sullivan F. Wow.
Samara Joy! She & Emmet Cohen are as good as it gets! ❤️❤️
There was Sarah and Ella and now Samara. Thank you LORD!
I'm just mesmerized. I can't wait to get the CD and vinyl. This is the kind of music we need now. While in a pandemic, talk of war, prices sky high, in some way everyone is suffering some type of stress or anxiety. We need a calm voice.
My God… her voice is beautiful and speaks to my soul. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾❤️❤️
When my eyes open in the morning Samara is the only voice I need to hear to start my day and end it !!!. I’m in love…❤ 3:51
Here I am, a young at heart 75 year "young" man, discovering this absolutely incredible new talent singing Jazz standards from my dear Mother's WW2 generation. Standards she taught me to love at the tender age of ten (1957). Thank you Samara for the talent you've so painstakingly developed and shared during this precious time of your beautiful young life! Congrats on your 2023 Best New artist Grammy! Wishing you years of continuing success!
OMG❤❤❤She is phenomenal! Two years ago and she is up there with the great jazz vocalist (Nancy Wilson, Sarah Vaughn, Carmen McRae, etc.) She has a God's gift that is soothing and smooth! 💖
Beautiful guitar playing Mr. Grasso.❤
Wow!! she's impressive....Excellent vocalist !
And now the purple dusk of twilight time
Steals across the meadows of my heart
High up in the sky those little stars climb
Always reminding me that we're apart
You wandered down the lane and far away
Leaving me a song that will not die
Love is now the stardust of yesterday
The music of the years gone by
Sometimes I wonder why I spend
The lonely night
Dreaming of a song
The melody haunts my reverie
And I am once again with you
When our love was new
And each kiss an inspiration
But that was long ago
And now my consolation
Is in the stardust of a song
Besides the garden wall
When stars are bright
You are in my arms
The nightingale tells his fairytale
Of paradise where roses grew
Though I dream in vain
In my heart it will remain
My stardust melody
A memory of love's refrain
Woooow its like an old timely voice. Sooo soothing and kudos to whoever made the video. Superb!
Elizabeth Rollano woooooow you're a new Timely DUMBASS
Beautiful!
How Blessedly beautiful is Samara Joy’s talent of expressing herself through singing! This is one of those songs I will love to dance to, and end with his kiss…
What joyful memories it brings of Ella's singing. ❤
Samara's naturally rich vocal and Pasquale's intricate guitar works perfected the alchemy of turning this short song into a drop-dead gorgeous masterpiece!! This rendition IS now my role model for singing and playing guitar to this tune. Can't wait to hear her perform at Monterey Jazz Fess in 2 weeks!! Thank you for posting!

Absolutely beautiful. Perfect pitch. Makes the multitude of “pretenders” fade away.
Wow. Another great jazz singer appears in Samara Joy. We are truly blessed with her and Veronica and Jazzmeia. Very blessed.
OMG ❤❤❤❤
No one sang this as well as Nat Cole; even Carmichael couldn't manage it (and he wrote it). Until now with this beautiful lady whose voice is straight out of the forties. Brava, madam! X

Breathtaking! What impeccable technique and styling and channeling all my favorite cool school from the 1950s. Beautiful phrasing and tone. So warms my heart to see brilliant artists like yourself.. carrying on the great tradition of Great American Songbook composers.
