  • Maniphesto and Father John Strickland discussed the importance of understanding history, particularly from an orthodox Christian perspective, and the role of the Orthodox Church in providing a transformative process for modern individuals seeking a life of purpose and meaning. They also explored the historical and cultural developments that led to the division between the Eastern Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church, and the disintegration of orthodox Christianity after the great schism. Lastly, they discussed the challenges and opportunities facing men in contemporary society, and the need to understand the past in order to move forward and overcome the challenges of the present.

This is the priest of our Parish. Thank you for having him on your podcast. He’s a humble, authentic, and incredibly caring priest, and an exceptional historian.

15:12 - As a Protestant/Evangelical convert (coming up on 11 years ago), I wrestled with all the normal stuff: Mary, the Saints, Icons etc. But this was really the biggest roadblock for me. If this is it, if this is THE Church, the true Faith, how is it that none of my family or devout friends are here on this journey with me? How is it I ended up here? The only answer is the sheer mercy and goodness of God. But it still troubles me. Why aren't these other people I know, who are devout and love God more faithfully than I, not finding their way into the Church?

I heard in Orthodox Catechesis something your comment brought to mind. We Orthodox Christians do not believe only Orthodox Christian’s get into Heaven. We simply believe the True Church provides the best opportunity when practiced fully. God bless!
