I was in a canoe with a .22 Savage bolt action And managed to citadel an Emerald. Now the Emerald did manage to torpedo me but fortunately I had some "flex seal" and patched my canoe up .....true story ! ( I'm a battleship guy, and cruisers frustrate the Hell out of me!) Great video Spartan !
O Spartan.. I really enjoyed the emerald, infact it's 1 of my favourites.. try William Tennant as your commander, he works superb for me.( Yamamoto and vian as insp.).. I find aiming alil further when leading shots (10 - 15%) and aim just above usual water line standards to find them sweet citidels buddy ... O and Spartan use the dam smoke properly, it last nearly 2 mins! Hide and farm damage. Hope you try my set up Spartan good pal. Keep up the good work ;)
Hey spartan...great vid a usual. But I noticed you were shooting BBs at the waterline in this vid. If you shoot at superstructure with British AP, you'll get much better results and A LOT fewer shatters and bounces. I love these British cruisers. It's a playstyle unlike any of the other lines. I
I felt that Orion's pain. It's all fun and games when the 152's aren't doing jack but shattering till those torps hit you. It's even worse when you're trying to pen through the bow and it still Overpens....My 356's just get laughed at by those ships.
Hey Spartan food for thought, try running triple armour pen on your commander slot 1, slot 3, and Yamamoto as inspiration. Also aim for superstructure on BB will get less shatters and more consistent damage.
Fiji is worth the struggle to get. Especially in tier five games - Edinburgh is just too hard - as soon as you are spotted you will see the target indicator showing 4-6 ships aiming at you - it is just such an easy kill that the entire enemy team will just focus on you immediately. Slowing to deploy your smoke often ends in instant deletion - run and hide -- Many thanks for your comments on Emerald - it just hurts to play it - did the cruiser challenge then used global xp to get out of it. Ok Spartan try this ship with piercer as first skill and refill station as legendary skill. Also put Isoroku Yamamoto as inspiration, also be prepared to citadel everything. Aim high on think armor ships tho.
J-Cran Cranford Yamamoto and piercer yep. Refill station I’m against. The percentage gained on already fast firing guns is not worth it. The extra smoke is imo.

I was attacked in someone's stream chat recently for being far too harsh a critic. Personally I consider Emerald to be strongest cruiser at T4. Not very helpful, but hopefully no one takes offence.

Spartan u said it yourself! The ship works best by ambushing and that is exactly how u have to play it. It’s torps are great and the AP works really well at close range. It’s not a battleship get in there and fight! I got 2 krakens while playing in that ship and I love it
The royal navy cruiser line has a high skill cap..... 14.27:shooting the waterline of a battleship(you need to shoot the belt rim or superstructure). The real question is the Emerald worth using over any other tier 4 cruiser, properly not. Although it has far more utility than any other cruiser at tier 4.
I really enjoyed the Emerald personally. It's a ship you've got to be aggressive in to have success. However I feel that it will be less enjoyable when every other enemy ship isnt an Emerald anymore as they were when I ground it out. Also helps if you're not stuck on Tier 7 mechanics when you use it xD
This ship I can use it nowadays since I moved into the Leander. But it is pretty much a big ass Destroyer. With AP. It is SILLY! Smoke, a lot of metal fishes and well a shame of the AP but...eh... with the right work and the right map [Hide behind islands] it works.

I have to say. So far playing this game, this has been my favorite ship so far. I find playing almost like a big destroyer. I had my first 4 kill game in this ship.
Emerald and Leander has bad armour, meaning it's like Omaha, Phoenix, Pensacola etc so will be citadeled a lot, Fiji however has a lower citadel so it's quite fun to play. Fiji is an AP Atlanta which shoots further, has a smokescreen, and better Torpedoes. However Fiji has i believe 50% worse reload than the Atlanta but still a good 7.5 seconds reload. I'm not a Cruiser guy, people who know me knows i suck in Cruisers but i can do okay in the Fiji and had two games over 100k and a 90k. Usually i get around 50-60k Damage in the Fiji.
I hear WG is going to make a Camo for the Emerald. It’s the Spartan Navy, it comes in the Halloween green, because you “Love” the ship so much.😂😂😂😂😂😂 GG
I love fighting the Emerald in my Königsberg, been completely destroying them and getting away almost unscathed, hell i love fighting 'em even in my Bayern using HE, the Emerald is so thin you are almost guaranteed to citadel the thing with HE from a battleship. My citadel record with the Königsberg was 23, with the British cruisers coming out and so much people playing the Emerald my citadel record is now 31 lol. had a match with 1 DD and one BB and the rest were cruisers and there were 4 Emeralds and a couple of Königsbergs, killed the DD as my first blood, then killed all 4 Emeralds and 1 Königsberg for the Kraken and i heavily damaged the other 2 cruisers scoring 31 freaking citadels in total. And i had about a quarter of my health left by the time i was done. Their team was very stupid though, it's not like i'm crazy good, i just got very lucky that game. I LOVE to play against the Emerald.
I see that spartan has specced for range instead of increasing the penetration multiplier. I strongly believe (and have my own experience in the Emerald) that this solves a lot of the shatter problems. Emerald is the dud of the line, but not thaaat bad after all.
They need to put in the USS Massachusetts into the game it was a beast during the war that took down lots of ships and damages the Jean Bart during the attack on Casablanca.
Sometimes running the other legendary perk for this commander can make a difference. If I'm correct its reload speed. If you want dpi select it instead of the extra consumables. Honestly with this ship you might be better using that reload speed considering your firing penalty in smoke is 4.7. To each is thier own spartan. I fire from smoke even though they are angry torp magnets. You still have alot to learn all of us do.
I'd say Hood has better Armor and Guns but Dunk has all the guns ready to fire over the front. Can be both a strength and weakness as it is easy to knock out all guns of dunk
I have a quick question about the store on PS4. As far as I know, there was supposed to be a bundle released on Feb 10 containing the Dunkerque, AL Dunkerque commander, and an AL dunkeque skin, but I can't seem to find it anywhere in the store. Am I missing something here? Thanks in advance.

I was in a bind. With two battleships the kongo and izmail and a destroyers a German tier 3-170. I blew up the destroyer with my guns, he got me with a torpedo, while my life was at half, two full health battleship coming my way. Now st this yime my points are at 34k, I went in between both battleship they pass me up hitting a mountain like a V shape, I came around and torpedo both skyrocketing my points up to 113k. Awesome win and that was the only time I had a win like that. Great post
This is funny. The emerald forsure is a pain to play, but I've averaged in the top 3 of the team more than a few times in it as well. When you do good in an emerald idk wtf the rest of the team is doing tbh lol
Great ship in GENERAL. Weak side= Slow accel and deceleration, guns are a bit too short so it needs smart tactics. Not a ship to get on the frontline and take the hits. I treat her close to how I would a destroyer. Maps without islands will be a great challenge. Don't try to stop the ship. Keep speed up and plan your path. Manouver between the islands and surprise close Battleships with torps. If you plan well, have patients and not on the front line you should easily get nr 1 on points
I have no idea what you are talking about with the commander commendations lol. The blue ones are only used when you don't have enough yellows. You should level up fraser to legendary 2 since you have 5 of his commendations! Lol
Spartan, I agree with the hate for this ship. Do they intentionally make Bureau Daily ships the ones that suck? I have put 40 broadside AP Shots into a battleship and gotten mostly shatters until they kill me. The better I play the more frustrating this ship is. If you suck and die after shooting 10 hits you can rage but perhaps it was your play. But when you put 50+ broadside hits into a battleship and cause almost zero damage it is not a good ship. And before I get the obvious, but the ship is not designed to hunt BB, it causes almost no damage to DD too. You cannot always choose who your target is going to be. But thank you very much for this video. It made me feel so much better every time I have to drive this turd knowing that I am not the only one that cannot penetrate with the papermache rounds it shoots.
Try using ambush tactics and not sail out in the open, if you can't manage that don't go up the line, it has a far steeper learning curve than most he spammers are capable of. Also it's a brutal dd killer, take them out and you'll be able to deal with most ships, just watch out for radar lol
Emerald was a pretty good cruiser for killing cruisers. Not too hard to get 100k+ dmg. At t6 though it's all down hill. I've landed over 50 hits on bbs to get a measly 9.4k dmg. Even landing over 100 hits on bbs and cruisers will only see 40kish on a good day. I get 100k on bbs with an HE cruiser in under 30 hits. The line just doesn't work after t5.
Thats weird. I can shoot the water 50 feet from most cruisers in that ship, and hit a citadel. The tier 5 not so much lol. I dont hate the tier 5 yet, but im almost there lol.
See I loved there emerald but I have Yamamoto as an inspiration and the first perk on Bruce for me is the extra pen perk all the way to the right soooooooo it penned all the things
You saw where you did the real damage. And that's where you need to play it unfortunately. My only gripe is it is totally useless against battleships unless you can surprise them with torps. At least with other nations cruisers you can set them on fire. The line does get better but they're still not good at ranged targets if you're looking for citadels. I've been doing better with the other captain ( Tennant ) as well since it allows me to get closer before I hit and turn or smoke up.
I got a high caliber in my emerald. Though the enemy team was bad. Killed 3 emeralds and torped a full health BB for a total of 78k. Not impressive I know, but my question is how come I've been hit with he by enemy emeralds I don't get it.
I treat the Emerald as a Destroyer. I rush the Battleship from the sides. It’s good Vs Carriers cause it has Anti Guns, smoke screen. I get 90% of my kills from torpedos.
You need to have all the pen perks used and yamsto etc as inspirations to get the best out of this ship.... You are going to struggle on this line if you play it like a Japanese or American cruisers.... But worth it if you persevere
Can’t wait to sell this ship. Blows up before the game starts. If you play against 3’s and 4’s you’re ok but 5’s kill you immediately. Especially Leander which has TWICE the firepower.
I hated emerald. Tier 5 I'm liking better. Not my favorite ships, but tier 5 us usable. Played 5 games in it and 85k damage is my highest so far. I'm assuming I'll have some food games before I reach fiji.
Spartan, I like your videos and I generally like and agree with your opinions, but this time I have to disagree. For starters you should ditch the smoke if you're just going to go charging in. Take the catapult planes instead. Waaay more useful. Personally, I'd have let the Omaha catch up and go in more concentrated. Still not my favourite cruiser line, so I'm with you there 👍
You need to be a team player in it not to get dead but you do get a fuck tone of citadel hits just not many kills. I didn’t enjoy playing it much either.
Spartan just dont know how to play cruisers especially light cruisers. British ap is essentially sap rounds( you cant aim waterline at any ship ,even broadside ships) your job aint to do mass amount of damage in a single salvo. Your sole purpose os to piss the opposition of a over time whilst being undetected.

yep, you need to treat it like the atlanta and give it more lead, granted most of the other players were emeralds so it was easy pickings
At tier 4 the games dont last long enough to do smoke

I play battleship mostly but I loved this ship. My best game with it was 20 citdels, 4kills and 6 torp hits and lived with 267 hp
I had some pretty good games in it. I prefer cruisers the way you do battleships. It seemed best at taking on cruisers in the 8-10 km range.

Agree Emerald is woeful, yet with a Konigsberg you can destroy some citadels and take on a battleship.

I have put 40 broadside AP Shots into a battleship and gotten mostly shatters until they kill me. The better I play the more frustrating this ship is. If you suck and die after shooting 10 hits you can rage but perhaps it was your play. But when you put 50+ broadside hits into a battleship and cause almost zero damage it is not a good ship. And before I get the obvious, but the ship is not designed to hunt BB, it causes almost no damage to DD too. You cannot always choose who your target is going to be. But thank you very much for this video. It made me feel so much better every time I have to drive this turd knowing that I am not the only one that cannot penetrate with the papermache rounds it shoots.
Spartan if you don't use smoke you can equip plane
Try using ambush tactics and not sail out in the open, if you can't manage that don't go up the line, it has a far steeper learning curve than most he spammers are capable of. Also it's a brutal dd killer, take them out and you'll be able to deal with most ships, just watch out for radar lol
Gun range was changed to 13.4 km for some reason.
Emerald was a pretty good cruiser for killing cruisers. Not too hard to get 100k+ dmg.
At t6 though it's all down hill. I've landed over 50 hits on bbs to get a measly 9.4k dmg. Even landing over 100 hits on bbs and cruisers will only see 40kish on a good day.
I get 100k on bbs with an HE cruiser in under 30 hits.
The line just doesn't work after t5.
The whole line has the same 152mm guns as the emerald so if your struggling to penetrate at tier 4 just wait until tier 7!! LMAO!

Thats weird. I can shoot the water 50 feet from most cruisers in that ship, and hit a citadel. The tier 5 not so much lol. I dont hate the tier 5 yet, but im almost there lol.

See I loved there emerald but I have Yamamoto as an inspiration and the first perk on Bruce for me is the extra pen perk all the way to the right soooooooo it penned all the things

You saw where you did the real damage. And that's where you need to play it unfortunately. My only gripe is it is totally useless against battleships unless you can surprise them with torps. At least with other nations cruisers you can set them on fire. The line does get better but they're still not good at ranged targets if you're looking for citadels. I've been doing better with the other captain ( Tennant ) as well since it allows me to get closer before I hit and turn or smoke up.

I got a high caliber in my emerald. Though the enemy team was bad. Killed 3 emeralds and torped a full health BB for a total of 78k. Not impressive I know, but my question is how come I've been hit with he by enemy emeralds I don't get it.
Only HE on an emerald is secondaries

I treat the Emerald as a Destroyer. I rush the Battleship from the sides. It’s good Vs Carriers cause it has Anti Guns, smoke screen. I get 90% of my kills from torpedos.
Spartan I just citadalled the Emerald with high explosive from 12.5 kilometers away with the Orion lol granted it is a light cruiser

You need to have all the pen perks used and yamsto etc as inspirations to get the best out of this ship.... You are going to struggle on this line if you play it like a Japanese or American cruisers.... But worth it if you persevere

Can’t wait to sell this ship. Blows up before the game starts. If you play against 3’s and 4’s you’re ok but 5’s kill you immediately. Especially Leander which has TWICE the firepower.
I hated emerald. Tier 5 I'm liking better. Not my favorite ships, but tier 5 us usable. Played 5 games in it and 85k damage is my highest so far. I'm assuming I'll have some food games before I reach fiji.
Spartan, I like your videos and I generally like and agree with your opinions, but this time I have to disagree. For starters you should ditch the smoke if you're just going to go charging in. Take the catapult planes instead. Waaay more useful.
Personally, I'd have let the Omaha catch up and go in more concentrated.

Spartan just dont know how to play cruisers especially light cruisers. British ap is essentially sap rounds( you cant aim waterline at any ship ,even broadside ships) your job aint to do mass amount of damage in a single salvo. Your sole purpose os to piss the opposition of a over time whilst being undetected.
