One of the gun shops around here has had the Aguila .22 Auto ammo, have you tried that? I picked up four boxes of it when I bought my 1903, then went back and got the brick he had.
But it looks like the chamber is the issue with your rifle, a shame.

Michael Brooker It’s had a long life doing what it does best and still tries hard, no shame in that!
I could reline it but the scarcity of the ammo means it won’t be reached for often anyway. Technically, it works and a few rounds a year will prove that.
Still looks great on the wall and when people ask what it is it’s kind of cool to say, “oh that? That is the first semi automatic rifle ever made”.

@@MilsurpGarage ill try thanks. Racking my smalll brain putting a 1967 marlin 60 back in order, looked mint, someone tried to replace buffer and spring in. Now its my project. Unlike springfields marlin changed the action atleast 3 times.

I am currently making extractors for this gun. I have the blueprint done and a rough cut. I am starting over with a full cut out on the mill. These extractors are very hard to find.

I’m having another issue :/ I’ll load 1 round into the magazine and I can close the tube all the way down no problem. But If i try to load 2 or more the tube will not shut all the way. It’s very weird.

Tube is not letting the follower pass. Dented or obstructed somehow. Don’t push the follower past the dent, you’ll never get it back.

@@MilsurpGarage I just found out that someone switched out the 1903’s inner and outer magazine for a model 63. That’s why the .22 auto rounds don’t fit inside the tube but .22 LR will 🤦🏽‍♂️ I have parts on order I’m hoping to have this rifle back by this weekend.

I found this video 2 years late. This rifle can work. But your not doing enough. Cloth with polish isn’t enough. The chamber is tightening up too much when warmed up. That means it’s too tight. You need to take a spend casing. drill a small hole in the rim end, and screw it to a rod. Put some valve grinding compound in the chamber and on the spent casing. Spin it in the chamber with the drill. Don’t press too much on the chamber you don’t want to deepen where the rim seats, but you’ve gotta give the round a little breathing room to expand without tightening up in the chamber. 22 rounds aren’t so strong that the casing can’t handle a little expansion. And your not gonna reload them anyways. Until you give it some breathing room in the chamber it will continue to tighten up on the casing when warm. A lot of people don’t know you can have too tight of a chamber too.

      Never too late here......
I was planning a range trip with this rifle to check it's function again. I do not have a lot of ammo for it.....most of it real old and way obsolete anyway so I don't really need it to run for days. If I can get through 10 rounds I'm hanging it on the wall with the powder marks and all. I'll make a video of this endeavor. Stay tuned.

@@MilsurpGarage I have this same gun. A little tip. I make my ammo for it since it’s so hard to find for a decent price, and it might be perfect for your tighter chamber. I pull the bullets from .22 wrf ammo then empty the powder, then cut down the cases to Winchester auto length. The diameter and rim size on the 22wrf cases are almost identical. The diameter Is 5 thousandths smaller and would probably solve your stuck casings problem. You said there was some pitting in your chamber. When pitting happens the outer edges of the pits actually have swells. I believe this is what is causing the sticking. Valve grinding compound and spinning a spent case both ways in the chamber should open this up. And you’d have to do it a long time to over do it since your using the proper casing ,it’s only gonna open it up to its size. And 22 cases will stretch pretty far before rupturing. Have fun. Be careful

Believe it or not…..an ammo change corrected the problem.

Why Not Reline The Barrel and Then You Would Have a Like New Chamber and Barrel 😀

Number one, the ammo is obsolete so it isn’t going to do much shooting anymore and number two, it’s better to leave these 100+ year old antiques in their original condition.
My goal is/was just to get it to fire a few rounds semi reliably every once in a blue moon.

Can't find this ammo anywhere.......USA included. It's discontinued, even from a few modern sources that were producing some.

I converted muy 03 to use 22 Long rifle high speed. You have to make three pieces. .1) Chamber liner. 2) brake to hold back the next round. 3) point of magazine.
I firstly didn't not do n*3 and it worked fine till the last round when the magazine broke the brake piece I had made an I had to laboriouusly remake it.
