Took my son fishing today and I pulled out my walking lure... my son asked me if I had a mono leader. (I use mono leader for my walk lures) I asked "why do you ask?" He told me because Mr. Evers says it keeps the nose from dipping because it floats. Just wanted to let you know that you are reaching our youths. Total awesomeness.
Such a great and Humble Guy and not yelling at us saying you NEED half a dozen Rods and 200 hundred dollar Reels and I truly thank you for the great Intel on the Pro Qualifier etc.. I’ve heard it’s an amazing Reel. Stay safe my Friend Semper Fidelis
With colder weather coming, hope you do a video on Pitchin' a Jig and Craw to hard structure, presentation, subtle entry into the water etc. Thanks, I appreciate your efforts in putting this all together.
The more I watch your videos, to more I appreciate you! You are such... a great genuine guy. No BS, simple, real, etc AND great (awesome) bass fisherman. Where do I sign in for the fan club? Lol! Continue to post on your channel, it's gold! Ok, now a question: It's September, nights are getting cold (I'm North of the border...), days are still nice but cooler. What are the 3 techniques I must carry with me right now. Yes, they are a lot more depending of the conditions but name 3 that MUST be in my boat no matter what. 3 "go to", 3 "no brainer" when the temperature is starting to drop (leafs are still green, no colors yet).
@@EdwinEversfishing Thank you so much to take time to answer. It's never difficult to convince me to fish top water! Lol! But I will carry the 2 other ones for sure!
Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge of fishing and gear with all of us avid average Anglers. Best personality among your peers. When I am down on my success and feeling defeated I can watch you and feed off your enthusiasm and joy of fishing. Keep the great videos Edwin.
Edwin, i just subscribed to your channel yesterday and cannot watch enough of your videos. Awesome channel and your advice will work perfectly here on South Africa as well. Very warm summer ahead and the fishing is going to be brilliant. As a teacher i have more than a month holiday so the bank and small boat will be my best friends until the wife starts complaining...GREAT channel again, Bud. One of the best i follow (up there with flukemaster, trf and of course Roland Martin).
I picked up two 7’-4” MH fast favorite rods a month ago and love them for top water. One thing I struggle with is pitching, nothing really too helpful on the actual motion on utube. The first mistake I made was trying to use #12 mono. I’m probably not the only one out there. Keep it up great videos.
I love the old pro qualifier, I have had it for over 20 years and it it still works great. My favorite reel is a Curado DC, and I have a bunch of Curado 200s.
I gotta hand it to Edwin, he kicked some serious tail using that pro qualifier series from Bass Pro Shops! Great video and so many can learn so much from you!
How do you keep track of your fish and live well during a tournament? How to you cull and keep track of your fish weight? Maybe some basic livewell and tournament tips and tricks video. 😎 Thanks for your videos E!
I have a 7'4" MH bass x with a 8.2 shimano slx dc. Makes an awesome top water rod. I have a few mediums but they get most of there use for cranking square bills and medium diving crank baits. The only thing I really use my heavy action rod for is throwing big spoons or 10xd crank baits. I've learned a lot from watching you and the other pros over the years and I started doing tournaments a few years ago. I used the money I win from tournaments to upgrade gear when I can.
Awesome vid Edwin. And yes, I’m more a spinning guy, but I have 6 baitcasters too. And for the rcd, the good ole BPS Qualifier is most consistent and reliable. Lol
I thought I was the only one.. stuk to the bass pro qualifier and the jhony Morris version. Haha 😄 I love the way they work and feel. Super smooth. Compared to other brands out there . Big fan of the abu garcia. Have a couple. But my go to is the qualifier. 💪
Love the tips, thanks so much for sharing. My home lake is Wheeler in Decatur, Al. I watched your video from a couple of years ago when you fished it and you ran all the way to Guntersville Dam. Would love to have some thoughts from you of where to fish other than making that long run!
Good info EE. Thx! I dont know if this excites you for a video topic, but as a bank fisherman I have weight and rod limitations to carry. What do u think of doing a video on carrying 2 or 3 rods and what all techniques i could do on these limited rods i carry. For example, i usually carry my finesse spinning rod, 6-8 med light, fast action to use for dropshot, ned rig, wacky rig. Then I have casting rod 7-2 MH fast action, for almost everything. Then i bought a dedicated jerkbait rod 6-11 probably a med action fast tip, its a Megabass levante jerkbait special. Per Tactical Bassin videos i think i could also use this jerkbait rod for small swimbaits like the 2.8 inch and small finesse jigs. I also have a 7-2 Heavy rod, fast action that i ptetty much just use for 6 inch swimbaits. I sometimes carry the heavy rod. I sometimes carry all 4 rods when i want to include the larger swimbaits that day. So im wondering what techniques i could overlap and use on my limited rod selection. For example, would crankbaits work better on the MH rod or the med jerkbait rod or finesse spinning rod? U follow me? Given three rods, what techniques could i use on which rod? Thanks buddy.
Thanks for the video. I've been using a 7'MH for my whopper plopper and seem to miss quite a few fish. I'll switch up to a medium rod and see if that helps.
Enjoy you sharing your knowledge with us, always helpful. Messed up my Abu ambassador 521 the other day so looking to get a new reel, sounds like a good one.

Love your videos Edwin! Thanks for all the tips. Got any tips for bank fishing? I know covering water is important but dang my legs don't move too fast nowadays! Or tips and gear for co angling

Hey brother, how 'bout us bank fisherman? I`m 5'9 tall, would you choose a 6'6 rod for better action, or the 7'0 rod on those poppers for a little more distance?
Edwin, I do have bait casters but my reels are not high speed except one that is 7.3:1. Is it ok to use a spinning reel and rod. Duckett medium light and smoke speed freak 6.2:1. I can throw it a long way. Thanks Edwin.🐟🎣
I got a Dobyns Fury 703C for topwater because I’m in a kayak and I need it to do a variety of things. I can’t carry 15 rods with me so my combos aren’t dedicated to one thing alone.
All the medium 6/6 6/8 rods seem to only throw up to 5/8 at the most. Some of my spooks weigh 3/4 or so. Will that be ok? I’m throwing them on a 7/3 right now and it is wearing me out lol
What action rod, I have a 6'6" med heavy fast action rod I bought a long time ago for creek fishing when I was younger for creek fishing that I have rarely used doesnt even have a reel on it currently. Is that too stiff and fast for walking baits?
I always use 40# braid to a 15# mono leader for treble hook topwaters, and straight braid to single hook topwaters A great budget rod for non walking topwaters: www.tacklewarehouse.com/Daiwa_DX_Type-H_Glass_Reaction_Casting_Rod/descpage-DXT.html
I’ve got a 2, 7’ medium heavy fast action rods, one has 6:8:1 gear ratio and the other is 7:5:1, both 16 lbs mono. And then one 7’3” with 7:3:1 with 50 lbs braid, can you suggest what I should use each set up for?

I still use reels I bought nearly 20 years ago. Lews laser reels I paid $60 each I beleive. Rods was and some still are BPS bionic blade and crankin stik rods. I wanted all my rods to feel the same. The rods had same reel seats and handles. I used to fish tournaments. Quit fishing for nearly 10 years. So now I rely on you to help me catch up with the times. Spinning would be fine for most baits that you reel in like buzzbait and choppo. Might be harder to work a walking bait with though.
@@EdwinEversfishing l didn't think of that of course you are right.
Edwin is there a way you could do a video on the right way to do and things we should look for and do when doing reel maintenance

hey just wondering can I fish a 7 foot medium for jerk baits?
Quick question, what would you say is the best all around gear ratio for topwater fishing? Throwing like, poppers and walk the dog style baits
All the medium 6/6 6/8 rods seem to only throw up to 5/8 at the most. Some of my spooks weigh 3/4 or so. Will that be ok? I’m throwing them on a 7/3 right now and it is wearing me out lol
Is wtd action done with baitcasting discipline?
Is it easier to do with baitcasting or with spinning? for shore saltwater.
As far as rods go do you recommend a glass rod with softer tips? Or graphite?
3:38...there's a creature in your vicinity...;)
Is that the Johnny Morris Platinum rod & reel?
What action rod, I have a 6'6" med heavy fast action rod I bought a long time ago for creek fishing when I was younger for creek fishing that I have rarely used doesnt even have a reel on it currently. Is that too stiff and fast for walking baits?
I thirst would be ok, especially for bigger topwaters. If you loose a bunch on it go to monofilament to offset the stiffness. A medium would be best.
I always use 40# braid to a 15# mono leader for treble hook topwaters, and straight braid to single hook topwaters
A great budget rod for non walking topwaters: www.tacklewarehouse.com/Daiwa_DX_Type-H_Glass_Reaction_Casting_Rod/descpage-DXT.html

I’ve got a 2, 7’ medium heavy fast action rods, one has 6:8:1 gear ratio and the other is 7:5:1, both 16 lbs mono. And then one 7’3” with 7:3:1 with 50 lbs braid, can you suggest what I should use each set up for?
Use the 6.8 ratio 7’ for spinnerbait and bladed jigs. Use the 7.5 same rod for football jigs
Use 7’3” for frogs, swimjigs etc
How come you don’t use the same rod for top water with trebles and your crankbaits?
Do you label somehow what each rod is spooled with so you can remember on the water?
Thx for sharing
Do you ever use a quick clip for changing topwater lures?
