I’d rather have a thrifted gift that people put time and thought into than a more expensive present that people grabbed to quickly mark the task off the list. My favorite gift that I ever received cost a dime. I was with my cousin and she showed me a little book from the fifties on making dress gloves. I really wanted that book but she had found it first. I was thrilled when she gave me the book for Christmas. I made several gloves and matching blouses, including a shiny neon blue set for the holidays and a scarf set made out of a leopard print. When we exchange gifts, it’s what we have found that we know will make each other smile, not the cost.
