She never turned down work offers. I remember Graham Norton, the talk show host in the UK, he had launched his first talk show, which was going to be very rude, a lot of sex jokes, risque material on it, he asked Joan to be a guest in his third season and she flew over as fast as she could to be on it, and was fantastic. Graham and Joan became great friends, and she always appeared on his shows when he asked her.
Joan Rivers at her peak. You can easily see the admiration Johnny had for her. He helped her so much, and It was all so unfortunate what happened between the two of them.
Everyone said that Carson never ever did false laughing. He only laughed when he was really amused. Unlike many current talk show hosts now in 2021, who laugh when a guest says "hi" to them.
Sicri De La Ho@ what she meant by that was McD's would put how many burgers were sold underneath the sign (ex. fyi- there's an excellent live radio show avail. on youtube with Joan filing in for WNYC-AM host Brian Lehrer from a few years ago...with long-time Carson lawyer Henry Bushkin. Bushkin also had an eventual falling out with Carson.

I read through Bushkin's book//on Amazon Prime....Bushkin was not being "personal"....just giving facts, and where it applied, mentioned his role in some of the issues between him and Carson. Overall, Bushkin remains positive about Carson. Both say Carson was the greatest talk show host in history..and earned it.
Fair enough and I agree with you but I still think it IS sad to hear them talking about him especially Joan. Johnny really loved her I think and she said he made her career. So to think it came to that show with the two of them. I vacillate on my opinion of the fallout between the two of them. Both of them are valid in their feelings I think about Joan and her move to have her own show. I think the fact that it was on in his time slot was the nail in the coffin, Joan owed nothing to the Tonight Show and had every right to move on. Johnny wasn't leaving and there was no clear picture that the show would ever belong to her exclusively.
One of the most iconic women, and a pioneer in comedy! I don’t think her style of comedy would really fly today… she would be cancelled so many times, and wouldn’t give a damn! As far as the Liz Taylor jokes, Liz actually wanted to be in Joan’s act! It meant that she was still relevant. It was either Liz or Cher that Joan took out of one of her acts and they called Joan up and told her to put them back in the act! They understood it… Joan was hilarious! Absolutely hilarious! It was never mean, or malicious… it was all just simply humor! Comedy! Back when comedy was actually funny…

LOL @ 3:49 Jackie Onassis getting engaged to Tito. (note: IMDB shows this appearance as April 3, 1980, and Josip Broz Tito died on May 4 at age 87 after being the communist dictator of Yugoslavia for nearly 40 years.)
Thanks! That helps. The only Tito I could think of was Jackson and that wouldn't have made sense!
Why can't she still be here? I really miss her
1980 she was already famous, wow!
