The energy of this man is unmatchable. Even in the end. He comes in and talks in just one breath. He doesn't stop to think it just bursts out of him :)
Such a great interview by Joan, don actually genuinely laughs at her jokes. If you watch a lot of his interviews he usually dominates the talking. So to see him actually laugh at something is rare.
I’m offended at your comment take that down delete it. How dare someone point out that my small minded ways are out of touch and elementary! Everything should be handed to me the easy way, whoa is me…
Love that Joan just lets Don rip. I've seen other interviews w hosts who foolishly try to manage and compete w Don. Takes a true comedian to just follow the humor.
She learned it from Johnny. And she said it a few times, and I’m paraphrasing, “let you guest shine. You (the host) will be there tomorrow. But if you make your guest look good, you look good too!
After Johnny retired Joan Rivers should have been his replacement. She was a natural for the position. Someone made a huge mistake overlooking her. What a shame.
Please do not get offended by anything that Don Rickles says. It's all and only done in fun and humor. He is a great humanitarian and making people laugh is his magic.
anyone who does get offended are just miserable people looking for things to be angry about. just don't watch. if they don't like it, they have to ruin it for everybody else
I agree skylinexj100, that generation is gone sadly. Pure talent, no one got offended. Just entertainment, and fun. They were all friends who worked together, entertained together and no one cared.
Don Rickles is unique. He makes an insult sound funny and that's his unique style but never crossing the line of good taste and the appropriate. He's a genius, he's so fast and always funny.
What he said then all came true. She did become a threat to Carson. If you think about it Don Rickles and Joan Rivers, although doing it differently, they have the same sense of humor
Masters and legends of comedy. Even their names sound phonetically similar. Joan, Don. Rivers, Rickles. If you spoke their names you can interchange them with ease. King and Queen of Laughs.
Rickles knows when things are slowing or going too normal... he then picks on Doc or gets loud or goes into his shtick..... today's his awareness and fearlessness.
The mutual love & respect, add to that, brilliance. As they say in show business, ‘Timing is everything’? Don had it, always on, Joan cracking up,but when her daylight came, she was ready & effortlessly made Don laugh, maybe like no other. Of course he loved & respected that. Makes me wonder of Leno ever saw this vid. He tended to always be lookin to get his quips in. Brings to mind a night on his show with Robin Williams AND Tracey Ullman as guests. As Leno said, ‘I’ve entered into talk show hell’, because they were goin lightning speed & Leno could not keep up. Tracey declared about Robin, in her bright UK accent, ‘I’ve met my match!’ Well before Robin, there was Don Rickles. Nobody like him really. This was great!
Mr. Warmth is truly one of the all-time best. No one could match his energy with zingers during his heyday. I love insult comedy, and Rickles was a big influence. Not an easy style to get away with, but it was a badge of honor when one was a "victim" of Don.
Yes, & Rickles has done the one about his wife’s Diamond ring that’s so large, she’s uses it to signal passing ships🛳 …..that one cracks me up every time!🤣🤣🤣

The enthusiasm from Joan and the love from Don is priceless. Never see that much anywhere in the media anymore.
The energy of this man is unmatchable. Even in the end. He comes in and talks in just one breath. He doesn't stop to think it just bursts out of him :)
Saw both of them on the same bill one night! Have never laughed so hard in my life! He opened for her! Omg!!
This is old Hollywood at its best! Two of the greatest performers ever.
Joan and Don: Perhaps the funniest ever man and women ever born.

I consider these two the King and Queen of Comedy, specifically insulting comedy. It is such a shame that both of them are gone now.
Joan is still alive, so we think.

I heard they would never have given it to a woman. I think they strung her along. Very sad. Joan was excellent
she got her own show on fox which pissed johnny off.
I read there were 10 people on the replacement list for Johnny and she wasn’t one of them.
Apparently once she got her own show Johnny never spoke to her again

What a load of shit.
The g.o.a.t. Combover. We need Rickles now more than ever.

The best of the best comedy. It's clean, hilarious and true entertainment. Joan Rivers and Don Rickles were both classic👏♥️ comedians.
Joan's Tonight Show interviews were always electric. Something about being the substitute teacher took it to another level.

Only Rickles could make Joan catching up to his speed and wit.
