In Uttarakhand we have preserved every temple may it be if our gram devta, ishta devta or kula devta. Uttarakhand is a state which is called Dev bhoomi because in older times people only come here for meditation and pilgrimage. In past state was sparsely inhabited by saints and sages who had denounced their public life . It is after the Islamic invasion .People from north Karnataka,south Maharashtra ,Gujrat and Rajasthan migrated to Uttarakhand mostly Brahmin and Kshatriyas settled in Uttarakhand to save their religion they gave up their comfortable life and settled in hilly region in trying condition.

I m from Uttarakhand and here's one more legend. Dhari devi was an only sister of 7 brothers, she loved her brothers. when she was 7 year old her brothers came to know that dhari devi's zodiac sign was not suitable for them and they started hating her. Her brothers were everything for her as parents passed at early stage. with time 5 of her brothers died, only 2 married ones remained and the blame was on dhari devi's horoscope. when she was 13 one night the two brothers chopped her head and threw head and body in Alaknanda river. the head floated and reached Kalyasaud village where a washerman spotted it. suddenly a sound came saying you establish this head in this river bank and dont worry you will not get drown in this river when you will save this head. when washerman lift the head a ladder appeared till the bank of river, he came to know that this must be some divine form. he established this head which came to be known as Dhari devi.the lower body part was estabished in Kalimath by the name Maithyana devi.

I visited the temple as a small kid long time back when the temple was set atop rocks. It was shifted due to the construction of Tehri dam even when it is strongly believed that any effort of shifting the Devi from Her original place would result in great disaster, which eventually India witnessed in the form of 2013 flash floods in Kedarnath. As you said in the video that the massive floods took place right after the Devi was shifted from there. All the people in Uttarakhand firmly believe that this act led to the fury of Maa Dhari Devi.

We visited Oct 2019 just before Covid, our cab driver showed us this temple though was not in our itinerary. We got opportunity to speak to Poojari he narrated d event, as they took devi n just moved to shore little shower turned into thunderstorm by the time they reached the nearing mountain, flood had occurred n group had tough time with palki n village being witnessed getting drowned. Villagers resisted this move for years but authorities won n inevitable happened.
