    You guys are my guilty pleasure. You all are doing dark military humor right, and you are doing a great job capturing the side of military service most people never see. I recruited as an E6, then, later in my career, commanded a recruiting company as an O3; you guys are killing it.

    • @timothyhernandez3803
      @timothyhernandez3803 2 года назад +2

      @@ReanuKeevesAus it was great because I had complete autonomy to establish the kind of command climate for my company that I always wanted when I was a recruiter. I held company training that was focused on mental health for my recruiters, candidly discussing the mental stressors we were dealing with, being on numbers while dealing with PTSD suffered from multiple combat tours. I got my guys to really open up and share their struggles. A lot of us got real emotional, but we realized that we could lean on one another, and that I and my 1SG would always provide time for them to seek whatever counsel they needed to get well and not be overcome by depression and suicidal ideations.
      I was a gold badge recruiter with three sapphires coming into command. So, I knew the ropes inside and out. If my recruiters had problems with a future soldier shipping, or handling objections, I could come in and help them directly. I was a pretty good closer, and I was great at handling objections, so I was able to actually train my recruiters. I also knew what to look for in the stations, so my station inspections were actually useful at getting the focused on where they needed to be in their prospecting. I got along great with my 1SGs, we are still friends to this day. It was a great experience.
      That being said, it wasn’t all a picnic. When I took command I had to conduct 12 investigations within the first six months I was in command. Some were recruiter improprieties, and others were command inquiries on my own NCOs. I also had to crack the whip on basic military standards and lack of physical training. The previous commander was also a prior enlisted recruiter, but didn’t enforce standards for PT. His lack of standards left me with some plump NCOs. I whipped them back into shape and got the company back to the standard. I didn’t do it through organized PT either. I held them to the standard, and ensured they understood that fitness was an individual responsibility on recruiting duty. So many people forget how physical health is tied to mental health, so this also served to improve their mental state, and better enable them to deal with the mental stressors of recruiting duty. Family time was a must. I didn’t work my recruiters till 23:00, pissing off parents with P1 till all hours of the night. If you didn’t make it by 18:00 you weren’t going to make it; pack it in, try again tomorrow. Anyway, I could go on and on, but I’ll leave it there.

      @@timothyhernandez3803 I'm in the process now of gathering medical paperwork to submit to MEPS. I went through it once before and talked to a lot of recruiters. There are some really good ones and awful ones (usually because they are newer and/or don't know how to influence people). It's like any sales job. The product sells itself if you have the right people and climate to represent the organization and clear up misconceptions. It sounds like your office would be a great place to get started in the military.

    This is not as cool as you think. When you have civilians spoofing our service experience, we feel slighted and disrespected when you get close but not quite. The haircuts, placement of awards, posture, tailoring, etc., we worked really hard to earn the title of United States Marines and we look, act, dress, speak, and absolutely live in a way which you cannot replicate.
    Not only that, but the behavior, language, and attitudes you present when you copy us would never happen and they're denigrating to our service and our way of life.
    I'm sure there's lots of people who have no clue about this that think this is OK. I assure you that it is not.
    We are real, with a long and valued history. We do not appreciate the way in which you have caricatured who and what we are.
    Stick to acting and please stay out of the real world of which you know nothing about.
