It makes me so happy how you make sure your bowls are cleaned out. The amount of waste from other people is crazy to me. You clean yours out just like my mammaw taught me. Waste not, want not!
I was just going to make that SAME comment Stephanie, then I saw yours! Yes, I like to see the measuring cups, spoons, bowls, etc. scraped out and ingredients not wasted. Other cooking video's make me crazy too! Thank you Paula for doing that. :) ~~M~~
For the life of me I can never fry good chicken. I cook it to death because I am so afraid of it being not cooked through. I learned from another famous TV chef to coat it and fry it just long enough to get that brown crunch on each side and then transfer it to a baking sheet and finish it off in the oven. You get that fried crunch but it is so good and moist.
Buttermilk and cornbread? Yes! But leave the cornbread in chunks and eat along with a spoon and a spring onion for crunch. I can drink buttermilk alone too. Rich, thick like a milkshake and buttery with just a touch of tart. Try it!
Love using the buttermilk to marinate. Usually use a combo of Panko, reg bread crumbs and seasonings. It comes out pretty good and crunchy. But oven fried chicken doesn't compare to deep fried!!! 😂
Going to try your delicious recipe. Fried Chicken was always on the table for Sunday dinner at my mother inlaw’s house. Love the family stories you share that go along with your recipes.

My grandmama and grandpa used to drink buttermilk and eat cornbread with buttermilk. I'm with you Paula, I cook with buttermilk but I do not have the nerve to eat it with cornbread or drink it. It's so thick, you know it would coat your mouth and throat. Ick, I'm getting peaked just thinking about it. Thank you for sharing your recipe with us Miss Paula. Your chicken looks delicious, of course.
You need to put some yellow cornmeal in there with the flour and oatmeal. It gives it a sweet-and-sour crunch. We Floridians have done this for decades because we are often frying fish, and we discovered that the corn meal you fry the fish in is also very good for chicken. Give it a try, about 20% of how much flour you are using. So for this I would add about 1/3 cup of yellow corn meal to the flour and the oatmeal.
@@ericac7870 Just make a mixture that looks enough to bread your protein. I use egg and milk...but, I want to try the buttermilk. I just wing it as far as the breading mixture...but I do dip in the wet then the flour then the pork skins. I do use the plain skins, preferably baked ones...just crush them in a zip lock bag. Try it...it's great! I also have done pecan encrusted salmon this way as well. Just crush the pecans and follow the same method.
Howdy all and precious Miss Paula!! I love love coming into the kitchen with you, so casual, just like visiting with a dearly loved family member. We love and pray for you Paula!! 💕💕💕💕
My daddy's parents loved buttermilk and cornbread in a tall glass too. They would use one of those long tea spoons and stir it up. I never cared for it either Paula. But like you said buttermilk is good in a lot of recipes. The baked fried chicken looks delicious !! The only way I've ever been able to make the perfect fried chicken is frying it my electric skillet. I guess it's like you said, it's keeping that temperature just right. Plus it's great having that lid on top of it too. Thank you for sharing another delicious recipe with us. Hope you had a Happy Mother's Day !! ❤
Hey Paula! I love watching your cooking shows, i always feel like im right there with you in the kitchen. Thank you for giving me joy and comfort during troubling times. I want to share a recipe with you its a cool minted chicken salad and its light and flavourful. Its very simple and not very fancy but i hope you enjoy it! Love tia. Cool minted chicken salad 2 cooked chicken breasts, chopped in bitesize chunks. ( from a Rotisserie chicken) 2 spring onions, chopped 1 cup of mayonaise Juice of one lemon 1 tbsp of mint sauce from a jar, or 3 tablespoons of fresh mint, finely chopped. Salt and pepper, garlic powder (house seasoning) Mix all ingredients together in a bowl, season to taste. Allow flavours to marry together. Serve with salad leaves, cucumber and tomatoes and garlic bread. Enjoy! :)
Good morning Miss Paula.. I remember my Grandparents and babysitter us to do the same thing! Especially if there's pot liquor left over from the greens and I would just sit and look..😂 Great memories. Love this chicken recipe..💐💛🙏🏽
Hello Paula, I do like oven fried chicken, my Aunt use to make it and it was so good she also soaked her chicken in Buttermilk butter she rolled them in crushed Kellogg’s corn flake crumbs and the chicken was wonderful, I didn’t know if you have had it rolled in corn flakes crumbs, I think that you might like it. Love watching your videos Sincerely Vannessa G Dallas Texas
This looks good! I would use garlic powder rather than tarragon. And I also would use the panko crumbs! I have also used crushed cornflakes which adds a good crunch!
I purchased a bottle of your hot sauce at PD Famiily Kitchen in Branson, MO. I love it! The flavor is tasty without the heat. Great for the whole family .
That looked so good I am going to try it! I made your son’s strawberry cream cheese stuffed French toast this morning. Now I know why they didn’t use the Texas toast bread. I used that and cut a pocket in the bread and stuffed the strawberry mixture in the middle. Man that was a chore. Next time I am going to make it their way.😂😂😂😂
I love ur chicken! I love your food. And I went to ur restaurant at myrtle beach! Yum-yum! Gotta have butter milk! My dad loved drinking butter-milk...I won’t drink it BUT I love cooking with it. Cakes, fried foods.etc... ur the best Ms. Paula!
Did you know if your meds give you indigestion you can take with a little buttermilk and it helps coat the stomach. I learned all about ears when I was cutting hair. Always look at the ears first 😆. Most of the time, ears are not level and you have to adjust or your cut and style with not be level. That seems like a lot of tarragon. I might use a spice containing a mixture of spices designed especially for chicken.
Special K cereal is also good as an extra crunch in flour. Does anyone ever double coat their chicken? Run it through the egg milk mix, roll it in seasoned flour and then run it through the buttermilk again and add cheese and crushed cornflakes to the flour and bake in the oven/broil a few minutes at the end...how would you guys finish that?
Ms Paula I have them cut up a chicken for me all the time at Publix. Of course they charge more but well worth it to me. Its the only time si get a pulley bone! 🙂

Would y'all use something else other than tarragon? Let me know what seasonings you would use!
I like poultry seasoning. It may have tarragon in it, for all I know.
I like to add garlic 🧄 powder, & a touch of 🌰 onion powder. Mmmmmm.
I use poultry seasoning, sage, seasoned salt and parsley. I end up putting parsley on mostly everything it seems.

Try the cornflake crusted oven fried chicken which is found on the Kellogg's website or on the back of the cereal box. It's the best!
Yes it is. I like adding some ground cumin and crushed garlic to the marinade.
You can buy the pre-made cornflake in small packets too. By the Panko.
