A few clips I threw together from a project I finished a while back with Kyle Hirt.
This car came to us as a 1997 Camaro RS with a V6 engine and we swapped an LS1 V8 into it from a '98 Trans Am. The easiest way to complete this swap was to drop the entire front crossmember with Engine, trans, and suspension out of the Trans am and simply bolt it into the Camaro.
We sourced a computer from a 98 LS1 F-body camaro and purchased a custom made wire harness from BP Automotive. Everything was plug an play and there was very little fabrication needed.
The Engine received a refresh of the top end with a new Texas Speed cam, dual valve springs, and chromoly 5/16 pushrods. We also upgraded a few other engine parts as needed such as the oil pump and water pump.

I would suggest finding a donor car that already has an LS in it. Usually you can find them really cheap if wrecked and it will have tons of parts that you need for the swap.
Is the suspension on the v6 the same as the v8???

They can be found really cheap but the swap can get expensive real fast

Unfortunately I do not know.. I was just the technician performing the work. I don't know anything about the final costs of the project.
What was the custom harness for I’m doing the exact same thing to my 02 Camaro with a trans am donor 01 ls1 I’m confused on the wiring it up part though that’s why I ask
It was a custom made swap harness from BP automotive. Everything was plug and play
I have a 94 with a v6 I'm doi.g the same with a 5.3 what motor mounts did you use
We swapped the entire engine and front subframe/K member from another F-body that had an LS1 in it from the factory so they are OEM motor mounts.
did you keep the v6 trans?
No the trans came from the trans am that had the LS1 already mated to it. It's a 4L60E auto trans

@@offensivetomato2294 I don't think so. The V6 Bellhousing will not bolt up to the LS engine blocks

Yes the K-member Is from an F-body that originally came equipped with an LS1
