i got one recently
using it on my gaming pc because they are still unmatched^^
Instead of painting the plastic case, you can restore the original color by soaking it in warm Hydrogen Peroxide under UV (sunlight) all day. The Eight bit guy has some videos on how he does that to restore old computers.
Sunlight! This wouldn't be possible in Manchester.
The cheaper, cleaner, and safer method too!
Have you tried it yourself or just watched someone else do it.
@@firebladex8586 the 8 bit guy shows how this is done in many of his videos.
I think he couldnt use it due to weather problems or he didnt know that he could use 40% Hydrogen Peroxide

@@Rainbow__cookie Retrobrite is basically peroxide in some sort of binder. Straight peroxide gives better results, you don't end up with splotches or streaking from uneven concentrations of peroxide. Large objects can get a bit unwieldy to soak in a peroxide bath, but you can use a large feed tub or container to get it done.
He would still need to paint over everything because he had to use plaster to patch some parts, no?

not sure I would paint plastic cases. First, it'll never come up as it was. Second, you painted the LED :) Third, the sheen is never going to be the same. Fourth, I suspect it'll peel off eventually. Search for "retrobright", it may give you better results.
You painted right over the LED next to the power button. Not sure how you missed that.

either you got very lucky or you discharged it beforehand but you should have put a Big warning about discharging CRTs and they can kill if not done or done properly

Very good, only thing is I would either retrobright or if using spray paint, would have choose a matte finish instead of satin/semi-gloss.

I still remember this monitor it used to run Windows 98 when my my praents used it in 1998
My Oldest Monitor is an IBM Monitor for the PS/2 PC is from ~1990 but sadly id stand unused here.. i have no Place in my small Apartment... and it Works. Needs just some ne Capacitors.

Hope you discharged the tube before disassembly. Failure to do so might cause your video to end suddenly, not to mention your life. :D

@@The_Studioworkshop Just as a firearm is always loaded (per Cooper's injunction), a CRT is always charged, even if it's been sitting idle for years. Nearly lost a friend to a tube "which obviously wasn't charged".

I would strongly recommend you don’t paint the case as anywhere you touch will turn brown and you can’t fix it

When did they make CRT PC? Doesn’t CRT stand for “cathode ray tube” ? Think you meant CRT monitor restoration. I didn’t see you restore CRT in the monitor.

Anyone that goes this deep into opening up a CRT I’m sure knows to discharge the CRT First. I personally would probably electrocute myself …so I’d just buy a new monitor. Lol Great job though imo
