Great video, a three-year review is exactly what I needed. I just purchased this dishwasher and am now much more comfortable with my decision. I can't wait for it to arrive! Thank you!
All of my appliances are Samsung (refrigerator, dishwasher, gas range, microwave, and washer/dryer), have had all of them for a little over 2 years now from when I updated my house and appliances in early 2021. I wanted to go with the same brand for all. Have not had a single issue with any of them, they all look great, have great features, and are super efficient. I highly recommend Samsung appliances.
My Samsung microwave and dishwasher from 2020 are already breaking. Replaced the microwave. Trying to fix the dishwasher. Fridge is still working after the ice maker fixed itself
Love this 3 years later review. I love that the filter is easy to remove and clean without needing any tools, and that you haven't needed any service calls on it. This review really helps me decide that I want this Samsung Linear dishwasher too!🙂
Thanks for the helpful update! Our old bosch threw in the towel after nearly 20 years of service, so I've been looking for a new dishwasher. Found this samsung model on sale and picked it up! Your review and update video made the process of finding a dishwasher much easier!
Great review I plan on buying this unit for my mother as her basic LG washer went out on her about 4 months ago Glad to see the long-term review update that really sealed the case for me wanting to get this unit for my mother thanks again 👍
Thank you for this great review. I just ordered this from Costco on sale delivery and haul away included. My builder grade GE dishwasher gave out 12 years ago.. a few months after I got the place...Anyway, I've grown tired of drying dishes on the kitchen counter and looking forward to using a DW for a change. Thanks again 🙏🏿
If you don't have the heating element at the bottom, you can pretty much wash anything on the bottom rack. You won't have to worry about it getting melted by the heating element since it's built into the circulation pump.
Thanks for this update video. I also watched your previous or initial video introducing this dishwasher. After viewing your explanation of 'how-to' clean the filter on this video, I've decided to move forward with the purchase. Thanks again !👍🏻
So you love it but if you had it to do again you would opt for the 2 rack over the 3 rack? I love the idea of the 3 racks but they almost seem like more of a hassle than a help?
I don't use the 3rd rack and took it out. I found the 3rd rack would not allow me to wash taller glasses and if you placed large bowls on the 2nd rack it would sometimes block the water from getting to the silverware on the top rack. I find the silverware basket does a great job, so that is what I am using now. Otherwise I love this dishwasher.
I just bought one the other day, ill be hooking it up tomorrow, cant wait! Our current dishwasher is going on 7 years old and ive maintained it quite well as far as cleaning the filters and such, but it has not held up very well.. It now takes 5 or more hours for a heavy cycle and over 3 hours for the 1 hour cycle.. so when i got my christmas bonus for this year, i not only wanted an upgrade, but i had to have THE BEST, and i couldnt have chosen a better time! A normally $1,200 dishwasher was on sale for $779 at Lowes, and of course i went ahead and purchased the warranty with it. I let a few dirty dishes build up, so i cant wait to give it a try tomorrow!
Be sure to give an update. Is he surprised if you get much use out of it once you are past your warranty. Ask me how I know! Foolishly went through it twice. Waste of money and time. Probably aged a bit too dealing with Samsung who won’t acknowledge what a piece of junk this really is despite its sleek facade.
@@huntershortrepairs Too early to tell. Was happy with mine two until I wasn’t anymore. Enjoy it while it lasts. Please do update us once you go past twelve months and beyond.
I love it too. I still do use and like the third top rack. Sometimes I over load it and it knocks the sprayer blade off. It is easy to replace but the hoe too is not in the manual I got so I have to youtube to remember hoe to put it back on.
Have you experienced any issues under your counter with the steam that comes out at the end of the cycle? I am debating whether to get the linear wall or Storm+ model. Thank you so much for the review!
It’s your call really. I would suggest looking for a different brand. I have owned two of these identical dishwashers. First was purchased in the fall of 2019. Early 2021 it failed. Thought maybe I got a bad unit foolishly bought another unit. It failed just before the holidays 2022. Both failed a few months after warranty expired. No help from Samsung. I agree that when operating properly it’s a great, quiet efficient dishwasher. It just does not last.
Evidently, I received a lemon. I bought this model on November 2, 2020 and loved how quiet it was. It did just fine washing dishes...until it didn't. On September 21, 2022 the recirculating pump had to be replaced. Then this past August (2023), I noticed that it was washing dishes unevenly (i.e., the salad dressing on a bowl wasn't cleaned in the front part of the rack and the back part of the rack needed me to rewash some of the dishes). The repairman said that the linear arm at the bottom wasn't moving and needed to be replaced along with the computer board that operated it. Unfortunately, that computer board was already on backorder at the Samsung parts warehouse. Two days ago, the repair service determined that it would cost more to repair this dishwasher than just to go buy another one. I don't know which one I'm going to buy yet, but it won't be Samsung.
I've bought mine around the same time. the drain pump started leaking. It costs about $350 to replace it , if you can get the part, it's on factory backorder. Probably received the 2020 Covid edition. It's pretty shameful
We have this model. The previous homeowner bought it new about a year and a half ago and I have had to have a service call for a leaking door about a year ago. A few days ago a got a PC error code. The repairman came out today and we need a new control board that will cost $500. Not under warranty. I’m not sure what brand to try next. I also found the open spaces too big on the bottom rack. If I wasn’t careful, the dishes can extend a little below the rack which then blocks the water wall from moving back and forth. Would not buy again.
I love this model. It’s so quiet. Only thing is I feel like my mugs have a puddle of water on them that I need to carefully remove, or they get the other glasses wet, and them and place on a drying mat. Think it might be the third shelf dripping water during the dry cycle? I’m going to remove it and see.
I get the same thing for mugs unless I leave the dishes in for a few hours. I think some mugs just have to deep of a top and it traps a lot of water. I don't use the top rack as I needed the room for wine glasses and taller dishes on the bottom.
Great explanation, thank you for the review. I wanted to get an honest review before i buy a new one. I was confused which one to buy between samsung linear wash and LG steam wash.
Thank you for an excellent review and this 3-year follow-up video. Very useful. BTW/ In addition to the door opening automatically after the cleaning for air drying, does it have any light indicator? (My old Kitchen-Aid has a white light when dishes are ready.)
Sliding crossbar appears to be unattached to the slider rail. Is there an easy fix for that issue? This appears to be responsible for poor cleaning in the lower rack
Got to 7:20 in the video and I show how to do this. You should see the gray plastic piece in the center. You just need to turn that and pull it out at an angle so it does not hit the bar in the middle. You don't need any tools to remove it and you don't mess with the bar to clean the filter. Hope that helps.
Thank you for the update. Have you had any issues with the pop open air dry feature? Mine no longer works. I’ve tried to reset it and have done it successfully once. Any suggestions? Thank you.
I have not had any issues. I would however make sure the sides are all clean and don't have any gunk that might make it stick shut. That is the only thing I could think of outside of a more mechanical issue.
Is the water reflector bar supposed to be able to just lift off of the middle bar in the Center it rides up and down without any force? I noticed there are two circular knobs that little plastic cutouts fit into, but is it supposed to “click” into place or just sit on top sort of?
Mine does not lift off or move with me pulling on it. I have others posted saying theirs moves if you pull it with your hand, so not sure if the newer models that is normal or if something is not hooked up correctly.
If you can just lift the bar right if the track, it some how came off the bracket that is supposed to hold it. Unless it’s broken, you should be able to push it back on though.
@@enricohinz803 thanks for the replies, figured it out. Samsung support gave me the wrong information, they told me the bar is supposed to just sit on top, I didn’t want to force it and break something but I gave it a little extra push and it clicked into place. There’s two circular nubs on the motorized bracket that the holes on the water reflector click into.
Have you ever had any problems with the water deflector? We’ve had ours for almost 3 years and it just started making a loud thumping sound now when we start the cycle, and dishes don’t get cleaned as well as they were before. Lots of food particle left on dishes. 🤷♀️
I just installed this vety model and love it as you do. however, I notice the lower rack resists sliding after being fully pulled out. When I slide back in, the left side rubber gasket rubs against the left side wheels of the lower rack. I see on your video that there is an indentation in that area and seem to detect resistance when you push the lower rack in as well. Would you say that is accurate? Just a minor issue I've found with the smooth entrance of the lower rack otherwise love it.
If it is pulled out all the way out, i.e. removed completely, I would agree it has some resistance when putting it back in. I have always assumed that resistance is at the indentation which is to keep it from always sliding out. Once the bottom drawer is putt back in I don't get any resistance, so if you always have resistance I am wondering the drawer is just not aligned correctly.
Ours is less than 3 years old. Seems like the linear wash bar has not been moving for some time. Any pot or bowl on bottom that is facing down will not be clean at all.
I had the same model with a 5 yr ext warrantee. The motor on the water wall went out 3 months after the warrantee expired. I will not be replacing with a water wall washer. This is just my experience. The washer was worry free for 5 years
It has a self cleaning function and i just run that without anything extra. I think the type of soap you use matters on how dirty it gets. I use the cascade pods and it stays pretty clean.
@@PUREreviews Pretty clean? After "3 years" your dishwasher literally looks brand new! Glad you touched on that around the 3:45 minute marker. Still it seems too clean to be true! lol Great work either way! TY
@@mile62media Thanks. Personally I think the reason it looks clean is due to the cascade pods. I switched bands in 2020 when things got hard to find and it looked super dirty because the soap would not break down as well.
I will never understand why Samsung decided to switch their dishwashers to a linear wash system. All dishwasher brands use a traditional spinner to spray water, which is more powerful than water sprayed to a wall and directed towards the dishes. The only reason I can think why Samsung went with their linear wash design is less noise. Samsung did switch their dishwashers back to the traditional spinner in their bespoke models. Good to know you like your machine and that you got no issues.
Because it's a selling gimmick. The linear design doesn't make sense because one side is getting washed or rinsed while nothing is happening on the other side
So this is NOT a good design? I am about to purchase a new unit and was leaning to this one and this is the first time I read a negative response to this unit.
@@jf831024 Get the Bespoke dishwasher. It seems better built compared to other Samsung dishwasher models. I personally prefer Bosch (#1) and LG (#2) dishwashers over Samsung.
@@jf831024 , Well think about it. The bar provides a powerful spray, but one side is getting washed, while the other isn't. Does that make sense to you? Go look at the videos of the linear wash dishwashers in action
Not 100% sure if this is correct, but the UG looks to be the black stainless steel and I have the regular stainless steel. So I think that is the difference.
@purereviews i got this installed yesterday and my auto release is not working despite of the option being enabled!!! Do you have any idea why is it not working
We have issues with this particular unit cleaning anything round (bowls, pots, pans... etc.) Have you experienced anything like that with this particular unit? I think our linear unit sticks sometimes and doesn't go back and forth. But I don't know for sure.
I don't have issues with large bowls or casserole dishes. However, I have learned not to place them right in front of the location the cleaning pods go as they block the compartment. I always put my casserole dishes in the back and my bowls in the front on the side next to the silverware. We always handwash our pots, so I have never tried washing those. I have also placed some medium size bowls on the top shelf, but they take up more room that way. If you are placing them in front of the detergent door try switching them around and see if that helps.
We need a new dishwasher, and this review helped so much. I don't like the third rack as we need room for tall water bottles. I absolutely agree with the detergent comment, it does make a huge difference! And yes, the Cascade will keep the dishwasher clean and sparkled. Thank you so much! Keep up the great work!
Hello, Sorry, I did not watch the entire review. I own/owned two of these dishwashers myself. Question: did you have any issues with your unit during the three years? They clean well and are quiet. Love the auto door open feature. But, both dishwashers had the lower deflector wash bar stop working. Won’t move anymore, stuck in one position. First unit also developed a leak around the pump. Both units did that three months after warranty expired, which is only 1year to begin with. No service centers available in my state and Samsung offers no help other than: “We are sorry that you experience issues with your appliance. Feel free to locate any service center in your area”. Again, any issues with your unit at all? Just bad luck on my end?
I have never had to add salt to my water and didn't know that is a thing, but I don't have hard water. I googled it and it looks like the salt container is on the left hand side wall. I don't have the manual anymore so I am guessing that is what I am seeing as it looks like the same thing on the internet. Hope that helps.
Ah. Therein lies the problem with the more natural detergents. You said that you rinse your dishes. Big mistake, particularly with the natural detergents, which contain a lot of enzymes. All dishwasher detergents contain enzymes. In fact, that is what they largely replaced phosphates with. But the natural detergents often contain more. Enzymes require food soil to properly activate. If you rinse your dishes before putting them in you can experience that build up you talked about. Also I prefer the spray arms on the other models, and also the food disposer that at least one of the Samsung models has. I'd rather put up with a little more noise in order to have that feature.
Good to know on the natural detergents. Yes, we always rinse to get rid of any food chunks as I don't want those on the trap below. I don't however scrub the dishes or anything.
Cleaning and drying would be two separate issues. It dries via the fan, so have you noticed an issue with that after it pops open? If it is not cleaning as well have you tried the self cleaning option? Maybe the nozzles are clogged or dirty on the bar at the bottom, not sure as I have never had these issues while I have owned it.
Assuming it’s the dishes on the lower rack that do not get clean, correct. Most likely the lower deflector bar stopped working. Therefore water does not get sprayed up towards the dishes thus leaving them dirty. Let me guess, you are past the one year warranty by just a few months?
This Samsung DW80R9950US sucks! Do not buy it! It does not clean the bottom rack. It splashes some water around with that dumb horizontal water reflector, but it doesn't get anything clean.
If you want to consume more microplastics, continue to use the pods. That plastic sticks to your dishes and you're eating a lot of extra plastic over time.
Do not buy this model. Installed unit and it leaks out both corners of the door, (left side is worse). The rubber flap that is at the base of the door thats installed between the kick plate actually hides the leak. My hardwood floor is now damaged due to this. Discovered the leak when using a heavy cycle, it had leaked outward so when explored by removing the kick plate i noticed that it had been leaking for a while causing the flooring to swell and lift. I contacted Samsung warranty, they sent a technician. The technician discovered the unit unlevel and thats when Samsung closed the ticket. I told the technician that (I) raised the front of the unit to limit the leak pooling to the front which assisted in it leaking out the door but didn't stop it from leaking. I waited two weeks to call Samsung warranty after the technicians visit and now that they closed the ticket they have to forward to another supervisor dept. to create another technician visit. The technician shared that Samsung is the worst at making repairs. He said that they would likely close the ticket because of him finding it unlevel regardless that it still leaks. He continued to say that his in his experience with Samsung they won't offer any repair or exchange. This model cost me nearly $900 @ Lowes. Word of caution "DON'T BUT THIS MODEL" !!!!!!

The bar running front to back should not move as that is what guides the jet bar...which runs left to right.
Does the bar on the bottom (linear bar ) is it suppose back and forth if you move it manually?
My bar does not move at all manually, so you might have a broken part if yours does.
Thanks for the follow up review
For the cleaning cycle, do you have to use the dishwasher cleaning pods that bought from the store? Or it has self cleaning feature like some ovens?
Thank you, I will clean my filter today:-)
Appreciate the review. Perfect timing!
Glad it was helpful!
@@xcmskim4 Sounds good, I was actually researching the Bosch too.
Thanks!
@@jf831024 , Well think about it. The bar provides a powerful spray, but one side is getting washed, while the other isn't. Does that make sense to you? Go look at the videos of the linear wash dishwashers in action
Does the last letters in the model matter? The stores im looking to purchase have “UG” at the end instead of”US”
Not 100% sure if this is correct, but the UG looks to be the black stainless steel and I have the regular stainless steel. So I think that is the difference.
@purereviews i got this installed yesterday and my auto release is not working despite of the option being enabled!!! Do you have any idea why is it not working
Sorry, I don't have an idea why that would not work.
I'm about to return mine bc my 10 yr old one I replaced is better at cleaning dishes
@@chrishayes4023 What is the model number of the ten yr old one that cleans better?
Thanks this truly helped me out a lot.
Do you know how to load the salt inside it?
Is the top 2 racks removable?
only the top silverware rack is removable. The middle rack is height adjustable though.
Ugh mine is only 1 yr old and the lower bar stopped moving it broke! I loved it till now
Mine too, after nine months; what did you do to fix it? I didn't see anywhere where it had a warranty
Mine never did work right! I hate this dishwasher and I spent a lot of money on something that doesn’t work
Thanks, great review!
Thanks and glad it helped
Agree hate the 3rd rack
Very informative video. Thanks!
Hello,
Sorry, I did not watch the entire review.
No, I personally have not had any issues with mine.
Oh, that’s great. Happy yours actually keeps working as it should.
I gave up on my two units and switched to a reputable brand
Funny how major appliance sellers say to stay away from Samsung. Glad you had luck with it.
Thanks!! Loved the information
Glad it was helpful!
Where does this dishwasher carry the salt?
I have never had to add salt to my water and didn't know that is a thing, but I don't have hard water. I googled it and it looks like the salt container is on the left hand side wall. I don't have the manual anymore so I am guessing that is what I am seeing as it looks like the same thing on the internet. Hope that helps.
Thanks for the info.
Thanks!
Apricate the review.
Thanks for watching and commenting
Thanks!!
You sold me. It gets delivered in a couple of days
Glad the video help and hope you love it like I love mine!
Try a brand named “Dropps” no toxic chemicals and cancer causing agents like cascade and other brands
I chip malfuntioned 3 years in $259 labor cost. Then the sliding arm malfuntioned. They replaced the machine.
Thanks
It seems like my dishes are not cleaning as well and not drying as good as it used to
Cleaning and drying would be two separate issues.
Let me guess, you are past the one year warranty by just a few months?
cool vid

You should never put wine glasses into the dishwasher!! it dulls the sheen of the glass! Don't put your nice knives in either!
That layer of white is because there's too much soap it's not rinsing away properly.
Thanks!
Thank you very much for the support!
