This is something I seriously struggle with. I remember being bored when I was a kid and coming up with creative ways to pass the time. Now it's just total nonstop dopamine brainrot staring at this shiny rectangle in my hand all day. It gets in the way of my work and certainly also affects plenty of other aspects of my life. Only recently have I started realising just how strong the addiction is. I guess most people are in a similar boat. Hopefully with more awareness we can figure out ways to break out of it, but sadly I think it's just going to keep getting worse lol

Yea, I hate that so many people have this addiction. That's why I want to fill my channel with helpful inspirational content this year, so I might be able to make the world a better place.

What I started to do was whenever I had some off-time, where I wasn't doing something productive, or working towards goals I would simply do nothing. I did this by just sitting at my desk, staring at 1 spot on the wall in front of me and as a result I had zero stimulation in my off-time, little did I know at the time, this was a superpower. This newfound boredom made those other aspects of my life 10x more fun and enjoyable, I actually craved the hardwork. This worked so well because I would rather push for those goals than sitting there bored, and it gave me so much time to think, and as a result I matured much faster, I also realized that this immensely improved my social life as well. Boredom is simply put the most powerful thing I have found to this day.

Mate, I've been following your since your "I failed at being a RUclipsr" video, and your production quality and storytelling are genuinely really good, I'm shocked you haven't got more subscribers. That intro was amazing.
Anyway, great video. I've been thinking a lot about the exact same things lately and came to the same conclusion that I need to sit with myself for a while, to allow the thoughts and emotions to present themselves, rather than distracting myself with youtube/social media. I've started trying to just do one thing at a time nowadays. So if I'm eating, I'll just eat. No scrolling on my phone, no watching RUclips. If I want to watch something on RUclips, then I'll set a time to do it and then try to just focus on that. Which itself is hard because I'll see all the related videos on the side and then click on a few and never finish the first video. I mean, that being said, the platforms are designed specifically for that sole purpose, and catchy thumbnails and video titles feed right into that as well. It's genuinely so sad that your time is being harvested like that.

Thank you! This year, I'm completely committing to helping others, so even if they're on social media, they might be able to benefit from my work. Best of luck with slowing down on social media.
