Thank you all for the kind words. I really gave it my all and put my heart into this demonstration.
Special thanks to my uke, Alexandria, for her hard work and dedication in putting this demo together. Thank you to Roy Dean for his continued mentorship in helping me reach my Jiu Jitsu goals. Also, a big shout out the RDA crew for their support and friendship!

Great demonstration! - after years of watching these, and taking part in similar demonstrations of my own, it's the partner in the demonstrations that should be getting recognized as well. Finding someone who is willing to be committed to your craft and demo is not always easy. Their commitment, time, and dedication to being the perfect partner should not be understated. Congratulations to you both

Excellent- this is a great display of “traditional” or fundamental techniques as well as a lot of newer stuff. I think we’re finally entering into an era where the lines are blurred between styles and movement patterns to encompass a well rounded and most effective game- at the expense of no one’s feelings. Love it!

Garth. I watched your escapes from bottom side control so many times. They are inspirational. And your combo that started around 7:17 was exceptional I watched it a great deal as well and will be watching this video more as I prepare to go home to Japan and get my training in. But your defining moment was your dedicated pushing of your limits to get through the last roll with Mr Dean. We have all been in those moments.watching you and many others going through that difficult time to get to the other side is truly a Moment we all share. And thank you displaying your love for the art. I hope someday to come back to USA and train with some of you. It’s atop my bucket list to train at least one day amongst you all. @garthperkins3 my favourite was the transition into the leg attack off the tai otoshi around 19:52. However, it was all amazing.
Roy Dean's belt promotion videos are always fantastic. The kata-style demos always have a bewildering volume of techniques and the transitions/movements by his students are always very fluid and confident. I think the demos could be even better if there was sometimes a clearer indication of progression. There were many excellent examples in this video of tori responding to strikes or escapes by uke (à la the nage no kata, for example). And I get that sometimes (often) tori is demonstrating a variety of options from a situation that happened several techniques ago, like showing the armbar or wristlock potential from the turtle attack into mounted triangle. And maybe it was the video editing in some cases. But sometimes it appeared that uke was being passive and tori was just doing whatever for no reason.
Just my two cents. It doesn't mean I wasn't completely blown away. Amazing job. Thanks for sharing.

Great video as always! After watching several of these, I came upon a question regarding the curriculum. At the academy, are there any restrictions on techniques based on belt level? For example, Garth's demonstration included spine locks, bicep/calf slicers, knee bars, kani basami, wrist locks and heel hooks - techniques that are typically "not allowed" in particular competition rules sets for a purple belt or even brown. I am an advocate for teaching all techniques regardless of competition rule sets or gi/no-gi training, but I just wondered how this works in practice. Are there any restrictions on what techniques a belt level can perform during rolls or is there an unsaid agreement on what is allowed or good-form? Just curious...

@Scottierolls within the sport. Check out all the competitions that allow heel hooks in the gi. Usually It's reserved for upper belts because of how dangerous they are but still, they're there. As the sport transitions to less and less gi, alot of those no-gi and wrestling techniques are being recognized as vital to the game. As I said, you still have feet, why ignore them just because you have the gi on? Originally everyone ignored the feet. Nowadays it's all fair game.
