      Don’t be too concerned. I like heel hooks in the gi. The guys in this video have smooth and effective Jiujitsu. It’s good to watch.

    Great technique during the demo. So sticky on his back. Then while totally exhausted and fighting for oxygen he takes on that big black belt. The black belt was 2 steps ahead at every turn, he gave him some opportunities but he was just too tired to jump on them it seems. They made him earn it, and he did. Great job.

    I'm a BB in BJJ and judo, but I get excited when a new Roy Dean video pops up on my thumbnail! Roy Dean is a classical individual, reflective with his students, manifested by their discipline. I felt sorry for the guy grading as his body is struggling for oxygen lol

      He is not trolling. He is saying that the way Roy teaches is different. Roy has a pedagogical plan. That's the reason for it. Not just going there and rolling.

    What a stunning display. Incredible perseverance and dedication even at high attitude. I can't imagine the stick sluggy muscle feeling he was going through the whole time from the limited oxygen.

      I don't know what it's called, but basically he initiated an escape from half-guard, switched to a half-guard sweep, elevated the trapped leg, grabbed the free leg, pushed him over to that side, then did a berimbolo from the top. Not sure if I explained that well, but I hope that helps.

      Red bar denotes a head instructor of a gym. Some lineages do it, some don't.

      Thank you, Jay, for your comment. No disrespect is implied. I did struggle against Nick, as he is an absolute martial artist. (3rd degree Judoka) In fact, it was Nick who gave me a black eye earlier that week. He was awarded his purple belt about a month later and it was well deserved. Enjoy the journey.

      There are two variations: plain red (for assistant instructors) and red with white borders (for head instructors). However, this distinction is rarely enforced or regulated.The rRed bar would also refer to independent club ownership.
