    I appreciate your teaching approach. I already have spray fixative for my pastel painting, so I sprayed my painted ornament with that. Do you think that will prevent the paint from chipping off over time?

    • @StudioJanet
      @StudioJanet  Год назад

      Hello Suzanne! First I want to say thank you for watching my video. I think the fixative should work fine. It's non yellowing and should protect the painted design properly. Happy Holidays!!
      Warmly, Janet x

    Great tutorial! So does the gesso stay on without oven curing?

      Angela Canterbury Hello Angela, yes, the gesso stays on without oven curing. It makes a great basecoat. Thank you for watching.

    Hi Janet, I love your video. I'd like to use some of the products I already have on hand. So can you please tell me if Liquitex Pouring Medium is an extender? Also, for the finish, I have Minwax Water Based Polycrylic Protective Finish, DecoArt Triple Thick Brilliant Brush-on Gloss Glaze and Judikins Diamond Glaze. Is one of these a good alternative to seal the paint images as the final step? Thank you

    • @StudioJanet
      @StudioJanet  3 года назад +1

      Hey Roseanne.......Thanks so much for watching my video. I researched your poring medium and I am not sure if they are interchangeable. The pouring med. looks like it makes your paint more fluid as opposed to an extender, which just gives you a longer open time with your paint. It dries slower. You can always try just a touch of it. The extender is not absolutely needed, try it without. The Minwax polyacrylic finish should be fine as a final sealer. Be sure to let your paint dry completely. Have fun! Janet xx

    What kind of brushes and paints do you use?

    • @StudioJanet
      @StudioJanet  4 года назад +1

      Kelly Acker For this project are used artist grade acrylics like Amsterdam or Liquitex . Having said that if craft paint is all you have, that will work also. They are just not as highly pigmented as artists grade. As for brushes, I use lots of different brands. Some of my favorite that I’ve had for many years were purchased online at Artist Club, their Papillon brand. Round brushes are my favorites.
      Thanks so much for watching..Janet x

    Hi Janet, can I use plastic ornaments? I have quite a few that I would like to paint.

    • @StudioJanet
      @StudioJanet  5 лет назад

      Lynette T hello Lynette! I bet it will work beautifully. I would definitely give it a try. I see no reason why it shouldn’t work as long as you put down a base coat of gesso first. That will give your paint something to grab onto. Have fun painting and please let me know if you have anymore questions...janet x

    What brushes do you use please

    • @StudioJanet
      @StudioJanet  4 года назад

      kerryd59 hey Kerry.... I like to use a filbert brush for these roses. If you don’t have a local art shop, you can buy very good quality and inexpensive filbert brushes at artistclub.com
      Happy painting...janet
